Metro Park Challenge
Can t wait to see the improvements Metro Parks makes to the course. Everything they do seems to be first class.
Was ok
It was a nice day so course was packed never saw a ranger played front nine with not to many back ups. I made the turn and waited in every shot from the par 3 11th hole on. It was a group of 4 older men who were player from different tees and on several occasions we observed them hitting 3 to 4 extra tee shots. On the par 4 15th hole 4 groups were backed up while they hit 20 shots from the tee. I had enough I hit a driver up by the green and I think they got the message. People wonder why golfers get angry this is it
Pleasantly Surprised.
Never played here until today. I was t expecting much since all the reviews were knocking the conditions. I figured for the price, and the fact that the Metroparks took over that I would give it a shot. I am glad I did. I loved the layout. Some truly unique holes and some just plain fun holes. I was surprised that we got done in 4.5 hours on a Saturday too. The conditions were not the greatest but I have seen worse. The greens were good and very little bare spots in the fairway. I can only assume the dry summer has not helped. Like I said, I’ve seen way worse conditions on a lot more expensive course. I am putting this on my list of must play courses. Fun layout, decent conditions, overall quick round and super affordable.
Way overbooked. Played 5 holes in an hour and a half had to leave it was so bad.
Nice people good course
Challenging course that is in really good shape. Cart party’s were nice but the carts were a little slow. A lot of people on the course and pace of play was slow but Sunday golf is typically slow at any municipal track. Staff is extremely courteous.
Here is my plan….
I had to come out to see this course for the first time since Metro Parks took it over. I believe in Metro Parks based on the renovations of Seneca. The conditions of Ironwood are similar to Seneca when Metro took over. Seneca had to be completely remade. Ironwood will need a lot of work but you can’t remake the outstanding footprint. I trust Metro to put the time and money to make it a gem. New tee boxes , tree removal and cart path renovations would be a good start. This course did not have any sand traps at all. Holes 13,14 and 15 need regraded for drainage. This footprint could become the best Metro course.
My plan- come out next year and see where they are at. My expectations by year two would be the course is greatly improved.. the best recommendation is to shut down 9 holes at a time, renovate and reopen. It could be the best course based on natural footprint. I believe in Metro!
Cart Natzi
The starter was very rude spoke down to us like children he was the new one in this situation and cared only to join golfers together to get done earlier... Very disappointed since th metro Park took over the course and Jacked the prices.
Go Metros!
Great addition to our parks! Think his name is Fred a managing supervisor took time to talk to me and he's excited about bringing the course to Metro Park standards.. everyone was working hard.. the back 9 is fun.. great job cleveland!
Cleveland MetroParks New Owner
The course needs a lot of work! I look forward to seeing how things improve now that the MetroParks have taken over. The layout is interesting with the exception of a couple holes out in the back. The power carts are just plain awful.
