Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club

About
Located just 30 miles west of Cleveland, FoxCreek Golf and Racquet Club is one of the best golf courses in Lorain County. The layout has a classic design with a shorter length and forgiving fairways. The terrain is hilly, which provides the most challenging elements of the course from the rolling undulations to the elevated tees and greens. You'll encounter numerous doglegs as well as a few blind approaches. The postage stamp-sized greens can be especially tricky. They are faster than they seem and have subtle breaks where you wouldn't expect. From the back tees, the golf course will test even the most seasoned golfer, however, FoxCreek has a nice balance of tough and player-friendly holes with plenty of variety. Your score will depend more on how creatively you utilize your shot making skills rather than on sheer strength or distance.

Been to this course numerous times however on this particular day my experience was atrocious. I booked a tee time in advance however it was not honored. The course had booked a large outing and I was forced to wait an hour past my original tee time before I could tee off. Pace of play was about 6 hours for the round forcing me to leave early. There were several opportunities to start me off the back 9 but the starter refused saying “ I am in charge, you will tee off when I say you will claiming I would hold the outing up.”
Not what I’m used too
Compared with other courses around me this course is a much tougher course than most. Not saying any bad just tougher. Nice challenge for the intermediate golfer
Decent
Staff is always a bit serious as in not overly friendly like they should be. Layout is challenging enough from the whites. A couple holes are small dog legs which don’t feel like proper holes in that it’s a five iron and wedge onto green if u very lucky. Hate losing a ball on a hole only 300 yards long! Would not pay full price because course is always slightly rough whether its bare spots or just not manicured well. In its day it might have been a clear four star but I’d give it a 3.5 now. Just u always get a small weird vibe can’t explain it. Not super professionally ran.
Good ole Fox
Fox Creek is easily turning into one of my go to courses
I was very unhappy that we got put into a group of 4. We were told it’s because we booked on GolfNow. We have never had this happen before here or anywhere else. I won’t book here again if this is the case.
Unplayable
The back nine was closed and the front nine was unputtable because of the amount of sand on the greens. The course said they tried to call me but had an old number that wasn’t what is listed on GolfNow.
Fabulous Golf Course
I played this course in late October, and it was in surprisingly great condition. The greens were firm, and fast. Over all the fairways were clean, with nice tight lies, the staff was extraordinarily friendly, and accommodating. Even the “regulars” that were playing the course were extremely helpful and friendly. The course has decent cart paths, that made it easy to find our way to the next hole, it has a nice lay out, I highly recommend you play this course.
I’d give it a 4.5 out of 5 if I could.
I can’t give the course a 4 star rating cause it was better than that but not a true 5 star rating. Especially for the time of year, the course was in nice shape. I liked the mix of holes, different dog legs and elevation changes. Greens were fast, small, and very sloped. Made the shorter course more challenging due to that fact. My main complaint and reservation about playing here in the future is the layout (and short length) makes it very difficult to have quick pace of play. I could see it easily taking 5+ hours for 18 holes with a foursome on a busy day. I played solo on a very light day and still played through 6 different groups (only 1 foursome, the rest were pairs or other solos). Thankfully everyone was very nice and let me play through quickly with no complaints. I’d play again for sure, as long as the tee sheet wasn’t super packed.
Usually a fun course to play. Mix of challenging and forgiving holes with a nice layout and elevation changes. Last round I played was ridiculously slow. Tee sheet seemed overbooked. Had a 9:50 tee time and first tee was backed up with 8-10 carts. Did not tee off until 10:15, then proceeded to wait at least 8-10 minutes every shot. 5 1/2 hour round. Longest round I have ever played. No starter or course attendants to monitor play. Value just not there anymore.
