Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club
About
Located just 30 miles west of Cleveland, FoxCreek Golf and Racquet Club is one of the best golf courses in Lorain County. The layout has a classic design with a shorter length and forgiving fairways. The terrain is hilly, which provides the most challenging elements of the course from the rolling undulations to the elevated tees and greens. You'll encounter numerous doglegs as well as a few blind approaches. The postage stamp-sized greens can be especially tricky. They are faster than they seem and have subtle breaks where you wouldn't expect. From the back tees, the golf course will test even the most seasoned golfer, however, FoxCreek has a nice balance of tough and player-friendly holes with plenty of variety. Your score will depend more on how creatively you utilize your shot making skills rather than on sheer strength or distance.

Rude owner and swampy fairways
Have went to course multiple times and one of owners is also at front desk to check you in… she’s always short with answers and rude but today got there 30 minutes before tee time and she said we had to check with other 2 people that we got grouped with if we could take a couple practice putts on the practice greens. Again, our tee time was at 1107 and it was 1035. She stood outside and continued watching us take practice putts Tuesday until we tee’d off.
Finally, it has been fairly dry except for brief rain last week and there were multiple areas in fairway that had puddles of water.
First Timer
Greens are very fast, I was surprised. Not overly difficult but a few holes will test you. Cart paths were a mess, but the rest of the course was a decent shape. Few traps, did not ended up in one but many looked fine. A few bad ones.
Fox Creek best when Dry in the Bowl
Fox Creek is nasty when wet & soft, but today the greens not only rolled nice but held incoming shots too. A few tough putting greens, 3, 6, 9,,11,12; a few demanding doglegs - 10,11,12,13 & 17 is a bad hole ....but I can't complain due to good driver & scrambling 1putt par saves. I actually scored so well I don't know if I wanna go back this year. Thanx to GN for the Hot Deals special price, and most mornings are a great time to play & avoid the late afternoon Leagues.
Decent course
Decent course. A lil rough around the edges. Layout needs more imagination. Too many dogleg lefts. Just decent.
Bad layout $7.50 hotdog
None of the greens were holding and the course has a peculiar unsavory layout that penalized good shots and left nowhere to miss. Hotdogs were also $7.50, that is too much
Course was in ok shape, however considering the days leading up to we’re fairly good weather, the course was quite wet. The rough was extremely thick and lost a lot of balls that should have been easy to track down due to it. Cart path only in the afternoon was fairly unnecessary as most of the course had dried out by then.
No club house or pro shop
Very nice course but disappointed in the amenities
Fun day in the sun
The course is in decent condition. Fairly challenging with some tight shots and lots of doglegs. A little out of the way but well worth the trip. Lack of Food and Drinks for the turn was a little disappointing.
Greens still great
Some of the toughest greens in the county. Staff doing a great job keeping the place playable and cut. Got deal was $27 for 18 w/cart. Can’t beat it
Not bad good greens but very circus
A lot of wild doglegs & crazy holes but in decent shape. Nice bar in the clubhouse
Beware booking through GolfNow
Finding the course and “clubhouse” is a nightmare, no signage and calls to course were going to voicemail. After driving an hour was told course did not have reservation booked and paid for through GolfNow, then they said GolfNow cancelled my reservation the day before but did not notify me. We could play if we paid again but would not honor GolfNow price. Paid and fortunately got money back from GolfNow. Course had no yardage markers other than 150 yards, no signage on cart paths to direct to tee boxes. Course was wet and has some real issues with drainage and large pools of water everywhere and geese droppings all over. Round started poorly with reservation issue and never really improved, just a scruffy course with little to no customer service. Next time I drive an hour to Lorain heading to Valley of the Eagles, a little more expensive but they appreciate golfers.
Smooth
Smooth and quick greens after lots of rain. I was highly impressed with the greens and the way the cups were cut.
Nice course, but needs yard markers!
We were rained out after five holes, but the guy at the counter had to check with the owner to see if we could be given rainchecks, which I thought odd. We did get them, though.
