Getting better every time I play it
I have played this course about 5 times and played it twice in the past two weeks. The first couple times I played were two years ago and the course was not in great shape - dried out fairways and unkept tee boxes. Hey have definitely done a great job with maintaining it lately. In the heat of 90 degree weather the greens were immaculate and fairways pretty good and not dried out. The course layout has some odd holes where they dogleg severely and you end up going into the next fairway. Also some tight holes where you have to dodge other players mishit balls. It is a dry course so they don't sell alcohol but readily encourage BYOB with coolers on each cart and a bucket of ice next to the carts to fill up before teeing off. Overall nice experience and definitely my course of choice to get out early and get in a 3 hour round with tee times starring as early as 5:30.
A very Long Round
I have played at Rancocas golf club many times over the years, but the pace of play is over 5 hour. Unfortunately this is not the first time it has happened. I enjoy the course but not the over booking?
Not Bad
I found the course in good condition. The greens were on slow side. Several of the tee boxes were crowned, but playable.
Only played the front nine. Couldn't beat price. Front nine plays pretty straight forward, Would play again interested on how back nine stacks up.
Good Time
Some tee boxes and parts of fairway could use work. Greens in good shape. Guys and i enjoyed the round even in the heat (6:40). Pace was excellent. Course worth $$ with GolfNow deal.
Decent for the money
Course layout gives you two very distinct 9's. Challenging but will not overly difficult. Played from tips at 6,600 yards. Fairways were in good shape. The greens were not mowed so were very slow. Bunkers not raked. Not a lot of sand in them either. My main issues was pace of play. We went out as a 2some. Cruised through the first 4 holes no problem. Ran into a 4some and hit the breaks. There were 3 full holes open in front of them. At no point did they use common sense and allow us to play through. Matter of fact they seemed to slow down as if they were playing on the PGA Tour. What's worse - not a single ranger the entire round. Their pace of play was unacceptable.
Last time we play there
Have played at Rancocas over 25 times in he last 3 years as it has early morning times (5:00 or so). Although the course gets better every year - (the greens are in fantastic shape), the rudeness of the staff has never improved. Nasty comments, bad attitudes and LATE opening times are just a few of the things that they need to improve 100%. I am not the only golfer with issues, EVERYONE I talk to early in the morning has the same problems. We are gone... Me, my 3 friends and the other 12 guys that play there regularly. Plenty of other golf courses around... Goodbye
Course in great shape
Played here about a year ago and was very disappointed in the overall condition of the course. Gave it another try and found it to be in excellent condition. Fairways well maintained, greens slow but true and the only drawback was the bunkers - hard sand. Course was crowded but pace of play was very good - got through the course in about 4 hours. Look forward to playing again.
EARLY BIRD
PERFECT DAY. GREENS WERE IN GREAT SHAPE AS WAS THE REST OF THE COURSE.
HAD A 5:06 AM TEE TIME AND THE STAFF WAS READY TO GO. WILL PLAY AGAIN FOR SURE.
Challenging layout
Enjoyed the course overall. Layout gives some variety. Challenging but not stressful. Bunkers haven't been maintained in a while, fairways could use some vitality. Greens were slow but ran true. Still good value.
Greens are much better
First time playing here this season and I have to say I was impressed with how well they've re-conditioned the greens. If you can find a good deal online this place is definitely worth it.
The rough is Rough!
Definitely a fun time, until you land in the rough. Got to be on point with hitting fairways and your golden at this course. The greens are great! Very challenging. We stopped to grab a hot dog and was told we have to eat in the cart while playing. That was a little odd, especially since the course was a ghost town that day. Other then that it was a fun time!
Decent course for the money
Rancocas is not the best course around the area but it's priced accordingly and you can't complain about that. I personally don't love the layout, especially the back 9, but again it's cheap and convenient.
I had a 9:40 tee time with my cousin. We got stuck behind a string of slow golfers but fortunately the weather was great. A third actually ended up joining us which was fine.
The conditions of the course were pretty well, especially for Rancocas. I recommend this course to anyone who just wants to get out for a few hours and not spend an arm and a leg.
Challenging
Played here a number of times. each time, is about the same. It's a tough layout. lots of bunkers and some are very firm making it difficult to play a standard sand shot. Must have good control of your tee shots to score well here. Will play again.
Awful
The greens were horrendous a week after aeration. The fringe around the greens is burned out on many holes. They've basically ignored the conditioning of this course for years. Not worth it.
Fun Course
Had a good time playing here. It was my first time playing this course. I enjoyed it very much. The course does not seem long or challenging when you look at it, but there is trouble all around. You have to be accurate. it is a fun course to play.
Course could use some TLC
The course was soggy but playable however the greens were not. Many of the greens had never ending gashes and the fairways at times were patches of grass.
Pretty Good
Course is in pretty good shape, some greens are spotty and the bunkers are in bad shape; but it is "winter". They are continuing to make improvements to the course so I think by late spring things will be in much better shape.
What happened to the greens?!
Beautiful December weather but can't say the same for the course. Lots of brown spots in the fairways and the greens were in terrible condition. They were littered with dead grass and dead spots so bad that they filled them with sand. For the amount of play that this course receives you would think the course would be better maintained, ie, where are the greens fees going towards? I will not play this course again until it starts to receive more positive reviews.
Slow!
I've played this course a few times now and I would not recommend it for anyone trying to get a quick round in. The tee times are every 8 minutes and they have been behind schedule on the first tee each time I've been there. There are a few par 4s that act like 3s so everyone bunches in a lot of spots. Took me 4 hours for 14 holes.
Ok experience for the value
Must have been a real jewel in its heyday. Course is a bit run down now. Fair layout and challenging but not a ball stealer. Parkland style with minimal rough and medium bunkering that has sand in need of a fill up. (Crusty dirt instead of sand in some cases). Staff was friendly. Course does not offer a 9 hole rate but golf now had $32 rate with a cart that was cheaper than the courses senior rate (I took my parents out and they are only up for 9 holes now at 75yrs young). Enjoyed the day and the layout..would have liked to see the condition a little better but hard to argue with the price. If you are looking for a 19th hole you need to bring it with you as the course is dry. Staff said BYOB is allowed and the carts all have coolers. Overall I would go back.
