Ageless enjoyment!.
Some very tricky holes. Played it in high school 30 years ago and will hopefully be playing it 30 years from now. Will continue to recommend this place to everyone!
Great Value
Played at 5:15pm on holiday weekend 18 holes for $17 dollars a player, great deal!
Fun course, will go back again
Good layout and fun. The greens were aerated 4 days ago and the greens were very slow. It will be a great course as soon as the greens recover.
Poor Ranger
There was no starter so people went out on our own. Ahead of us were two 5-somes! They were playing at a very casual pace. We called the club house and they sent out a ranger who was 75+ years old and he did nothing. He said when asked, that they were celebrating and it wasn't that slow. There was at least 1 full hole open in front of the 5 some. I told him I would comment on this on the survey when asked. The round took almost 4 3/4 hours. We waited on virtually every hole from 4 on. They did give us a free round for our "inconvenience", Without a free round I probably wouldn't play it again.
Ehhh
This course is nothing special. Greens were air rated and six days earlier and were even worse then normal( hard to believe). Tee boxes are brutal, not a flat lie to be found on them. Not a course worth playing
aerated greens but forgiving holes
First time playing here but I'd definitely play again, especially since they gave a half price voucher since the greens were aerated the day before. Course wasn't crowded at 3pm on a Tuesday, yet the attendant still harassed us on 11 (par 3) to speed up even though the guys behind us chose not to play ahead when we asked them on the first hole. They weren't close to us for the rest of the round. I think the attendant was just bored.
Not what it once was but still a go to
Rancocas is one of the most convenient courses for me location wise, I've been playing since I started about 7 years ago. The design is nice and has some really challenging holes (especially on the back 9). I have two problems with Rancocas, the first being the over crowding. The staff put off groups basically every 5 mins causing slow pace of play and waiting on nearly every shot. My second issue is with course conditions. The track isn't in the best area so coming up with ways to hide the surroundings a little would be nice. Also over the last few years the fairways have gotten harder and the rough more barren so be prepared for tight lies and awkward almost unfair lies in the rough. Tee boxes need to be evened out big time...almost forgot that. If you play Rancocas you'll see the skeleton of a really great design, ownership needs to make a commitment to bringing it back to its former luster.
Nice round at a nice price
An above average public course. Tee boxes not in great shape but overall course in good shape. Price on weekend afternoons is not bad at all.
Very nice course, challenging, reasonably priced
Best course in the area for the price...not perfect but most will enjoy especially for price compared to others of similar quality.
Rancocas excellent golf course
Rancocas is a well manicured public course that has many challenges. there are many well developed sand traps and plenty of up and down grading. the water features always factor into your play.
Nice old style course!
classic Robert Trent Jones design, fun to play, and good rate
Poor Condition and Slow Play
When I checked in, the shop asked for more money even though I thought I had paid in full...I've never seen another club do this when I used GolfNow.
Also, the staff was rude to me because I showed up 5 minutes late for the tee time.
He informed me that if I would have registered directly with them it would have been less expensive.
I tried to go off at 6:30AM in the morning and there were already 3-4 foursomes ahead of me at the first hole.
Myself and another single had to beg the starter to let us go off the back nine which I played twice.
The tees are in poor shape crowned and unlevel, but there was new grass planted.
Fairways were OK, but the greens were terrible.
Course also needs new and additional sand in bunkers....sand was brown.
Un-repaired ball marks everywhere, 12th green had tons of crab, greens were unputtable on the first nine because they were uncut.
This course was in pretty good shape when American golf owned, but now that it is owned by Goldman Sacs it is getting deplorable.
Spend an extra $30 and avoid the crowds and get a real golf experience somewhere else.
Fun track, rough greens
This course provides a somewhat challenging, but fair layout. The only drawback is the condition of the greens- they're a little rough, and a bit hairy, but at least they're consistent. Ball marks are a problem, so fix a few while you're on the green- if players took better care, this course could be even better.
very challenging
this public course is probably the best deal in the area. where else can you play for $15 in the late afternoon or $20-30 at 6to 9 in the morning with a fast electric cart. of course there is a catch. sometimes this course can get get very backed up(there is no pattern for when it will get backed up) and you could be in for the dreaded 5 1/2 to 6 hour round especially on the Wednesday special of $22.22 all day. greens are average speed and good amount of break.
tee box gets heavy usage so play from the furthest tees so you will have some level ground to tee off of and you will pretty much shoot the same score as normal anyway
you will find many friendly deer and people on this course
finding your ball in the fall when the leaves are on the ground will be tough especially on the back 9.
my pet peeve is that many of the trees around the green punish a draw or even a straight shot .they need to prune some of those back. some trees overhang the green. the majority of holes will favor a fade and punish a draw severely.
fairways and rough are in good shape
Decent layout
I have played Rancocas several times as a single, with a group of friends and a couple of outings. It's usually in decent condition and the greens vary from medium to slightly fast. The bunkers need some attention (pretty hard, not much sand) but overall this course has a nice layout with some challenging shots but very playable.
Fun Time
Had a great first time playing here. Back nine better than front 9
very few issues
The course was in good shape. Pace of play was a bit slow due to the holiday week end, but I prefer to play slower.the only issue we had was the water jugs on the holes were empty. One good feature we did find out about was they offered ice for your cooler or the one attached to the cart.
Rancocas Golf Club
Average course conditions, the problem being the pace of play. They schedule tee time too close together. My tee time was 2:15 and I was paired up with the 2:12 group. The opening hole is a par 5 which doesn't help the pace either.
If you get the discount, it is worth the money, some hard holes, front 9 more open then the back nine.
Rancocas Was fun
Rancocas provides a challenging terrain, that is very pretty, with water fountains and beautiful trees. We had a great day.
