Poor Condition and Slow Play
When I checked in, the shop asked for more money even though I thought I had paid in full...I've never seen another club do this when I used GolfNow.
Also, the staff was rude to me because I showed up 5 minutes late for the tee time.
He informed me that if I would have registered directly with them it would have been less expensive.
I tried to go off at 6:30AM in the morning and there were already 3-4 foursomes ahead of me at the first hole.
Myself and another single had to beg the starter to let us go off the back nine which I played twice.
The tees are in poor shape crowned and unlevel, but there was new grass planted.
Fairways were OK, but the greens were terrible.
Course also needs new and additional sand in bunkers....sand was brown.
Un-repaired ball marks everywhere, 12th green had tons of crab, greens were unputtable on the first nine because they were uncut.
This course was in pretty good shape when American golf owned, but now that it is owned by Goldman Sacs it is getting deplorable.
Spend an extra $30 and avoid the crowds and get a real golf experience somewhere else.
Fun track, rough greens
This course provides a somewhat challenging, but fair layout. The only drawback is the condition of the greens- they're a little rough, and a bit hairy, but at least they're consistent. Ball marks are a problem, so fix a few while you're on the green- if players took better care, this course could be even better.
very challenging
this public course is probably the best deal in the area. where else can you play for $15 in the late afternoon or $20-30 at 6to 9 in the morning with a fast electric cart. of course there is a catch. sometimes this course can get get very backed up(there is no pattern for when it will get backed up) and you could be in for the dreaded 5 1/2 to 6 hour round especially on the Wednesday special of $22.22 all day. greens are average speed and good amount of break.
tee box gets heavy usage so play from the furthest tees so you will have some level ground to tee off of and you will pretty much shoot the same score as normal anyway
you will find many friendly deer and people on this course
finding your ball in the fall when the leaves are on the ground will be tough especially on the back 9.
my pet peeve is that many of the trees around the green punish a draw or even a straight shot .they need to prune some of those back. some trees overhang the green. the majority of holes will favor a fade and punish a draw severely.
fairways and rough are in good shape
Decent layout
I have played Rancocas several times as a single, with a group of friends and a couple of outings. It's usually in decent condition and the greens vary from medium to slightly fast. The bunkers need some attention (pretty hard, not much sand) but overall this course has a nice layout with some challenging shots but very playable.
Fun Time
Had a great first time playing here. Back nine better than front 9
very few issues
The course was in good shape. Pace of play was a bit slow due to the holiday week end, but I prefer to play slower.the only issue we had was the water jugs on the holes were empty. One good feature we did find out about was they offered ice for your cooler or the one attached to the cart.
Rancocas Golf Club
Average course conditions, the problem being the pace of play. They schedule tee time too close together. My tee time was 2:15 and I was paired up with the 2:12 group. The opening hole is a par 5 which doesn't help the pace either.
If you get the discount, it is worth the money, some hard holes, front 9 more open then the back nine.
Rancocas Was fun
Rancocas provides a challenging terrain, that is very pretty, with water fountains and beautiful trees. We had a great day.
Great course on WEEKDAYS
After playing this course a few times, I've made a firm decision to never play it again on the weekend. Very nice course that's challenging on front and back and usually in great condition. However, they PACK the course on Sundays and do very little to expedite play. Because the price is so reasonable, it attracts a lot of amateur golfers who know nothing about 'Ready Golf' and the rangers are no where to be found. If you can play this course midweek, it's definitely worthwhile.
Nice course but maintenance during play an issue!!!
We had the 4th tee time of the day and still had a slow 4 hr round mostly due to course maintenance actually stopping us from playing so they could spray a green once. Had to wait 10 minutes on another hole for them to completely rake ALL the bunkers around the green!!!! Several other holes groups in front of us had the same challenges adding to slowing all golfers down. If you are going to schedule tee times at 8 minute intervals you cant be stopping play to do maintenance that should be done while course is closed!!! If you play this course later in day I'm sure it would be a 5 hr round. Very sad because course is very nice but frustration ruins what should be a good day of golf.
poor timing of maint.
the course was in fair condition prices on food to high turning water on in the middle of round ridiculous wont go there again unless desperate.
Bang for the Buck
Great course for the fee. Tough middle-of-the-day round with maintenance and on-course sprinklers being run but overall a good place to play.
Rancocas
Rancocas is in great condition. The pace on the back nine was slow, but other than that great place to play...good value!
Nice round
The course was extremely busy, but play was great for a Sunday afternoon, 4 1/2 hours. The rough was very difficult. Greens were good condition. Love the electric carts, quiet. Will play again.
Over 6 Hour Round!
They. Ran. Out. Of. Carts. Seriously, when I got there, I had to walk to the range and was told to walk back to the clubhouse before my tee time to get a cart.
I was a single, and watched the starter send off a threesome (at my tee time) while telling me that 3 foursomes were ahead of me... no idea why that made sense in his head, but ok. I walked back to the clubhouse and 12 people were standing there waiting for carts.
I asked to get a refund so I could go play a course that had capacity for me. Well at that point, it was decided it made more sense to join me up with a group. The group they joined me with were SHARING a set of 1960's era blades...
The round took over 6 hours and was the most frustrating event of my golfing life.
rancocas
Love this course but, we had an early teetime-5:00am
When we come around there are people teeing off
on the 10th hole in front of us. This is not the first
time this has happened at this course. I don't think
that's right.
Awesome Day
I have been to this course a few times and it seems to get better and better. The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. They seem to work on them and make sure they are well groomed.
The people are always friendly and in a good mood. I would recommend this course to all!!
additional cost
Course was in good condition, staff was friendly only hiccup was I did not wear a shirt with a collar so it coast me $50 to buy a collared shirt.
A great course for beginners !
It was a great day! Course was excellent!
I also found this course to be very woman friendly. There were a lot of couples golfing when I was there.
Nice day of golf
Course is in good shape, greens are moderate in pace, I understand they are speeding up from the last couple of weeks. I found the course to be enjoyable and challenging enough although a little short it does require some course management club selection.
All in all I would recommend !
