Brown's Run Country Club
About
Brown's Run Country Club in Middletown offers a championship layout that stretches to just over 6,830 yards. The team of William and Brian Gordon, brothers who have designed more than 85 golf courses all over the U.S., designed Brown's Run in 1958. It has a classic layout that is gentle enough for beginners, but it is an enjoyable round no matter what skill level. There are a few strategically placed sand traps throughout the golf course, which make up for the absence of water. The design is pretty straightforward although there are a few slight doglegs to watch out for. In addition to the challenging but playable design, the course boasts some of the finest fairways and greens in the area. Brown's Run also offers other amenities including an Olympic-size pool and four lighted tennis courts.

HIDDEN GEM IN MIDDLETOWN
Really enjoyed this former private country club turned public course on a clear sunny fall day with very few other golfers on the course. The single most outstanding thing this course offers are the pristine fairways, it was like hitting off of plush carpet. Greens putted true after fall aeration. Layout of holes offered a very good variety with several doglegs and options of tees. One very unusual item is there are no lakes on the course whi h explains why our group didnt lose many balls. We are long time golfers and play a variety of courses in the greater Cincinnati area. The price for our round of 18 holes obtained from Golf Now was $30 and very fair for the outstanding quality of the course. One thing to mention is that the two nines have been reversed, the former front nine is now the back which fooled some of our gps distance finders. The former restaurant has been closed permanently however the pro shop offers brats and dogs, beer and non alcoholic beverages and various snacks. Limited clothing items and only a few hats were found. On course bathroom only on back nine. There were no tee markers other than white paint on the grass. Course could benefit with a few directional markers as well. It is a beautiful track with many different types of trees and no problem with leaves during this fall season. Traps with sand but not really playable, hard pan and needed more sand or just remove them from course. We will definately add this course into our regular list to play. Staff very friendly and helpful. Price a real bargain. Gas powered carts in good shape, no onboard navigation.
Great Course!
Fairways were in the best condition of the courses around. Greens were recently punched so they were a little troublesome. They were also very challenging. A par 3 had the hole placement in the very front on an extreme slope that was reminiscent of a “groundskeepers revenge’ tournament. The golf cart was extremely slow but still nice. Loved the staff, the pro shop and club house area, very clean as well.
Browns Run
Good challenging course. Some Drought damage. Need sand in bunkers. Over all good
Pleasant surprise
The course was in better shape than just about everywhere we've played in the last few months with the dry conditions. Good layout. I would strongly recommend giving it a try.
Pace of Play & Excellent Shape
This course is a gem. The rangers are excellent at managing pace of play and the ground keepers keep the course in great shape. I can’t say enough good things about this course and when this comes up on a hot feal I jump at the opportunity to play.
Nice Day
I am a True Amateur Golfer. Course is suffering a little from our long dry spell, but I do imagine all public courses are suffering the same right now. Still a nice course to play.
I played alone and had a team of 2 in front of me and a team of 3 behind me. The couple were amateurs as well. Very nice people. They seemed to play both sides of the faraway. It was cute watching them. They were having a great time. Anyway, I would say by the 3rd hole, the team of 3 had caught up to me, when I finished the hole I waited and let them play thru. Very nice and funny guys. This have the team of 2 to have some time to play without feeling rushed and allowing the faster paced player to keep their pace. It worked out for all of us I believe. I did speak with the couple after we were heading to our vehicles. They were from Northern Dayton and trying out this course for the first time. So I asked them what they thought and their reply was they were disappointed in the condition of the course for which I replied. I am sure all public courses are suffering because we haven't had rain I also told them that int he spring and early summer is the best time to play public courses. That's when they are the most watered. I believe they will be back. They already have the GN app.
Pace of play
We had a 9:15 tee time. It took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Were told by 2 rangers there was 2 old guys slowing play and they were going to Ask them to take rain check.
This never happened and we decided to quit after 9 holes.
They did give us a rain check but since they never took action I’m sure everyone who played that day regretted it.
They stuck a twosome between our 4some and the foursome behind us???? And on hole # 13 one of the 2some drove the ball right over our head. I think they were members. But doesn’t the ethiquette apply to them also?
It’s too bad because we enjoy playing your course. But felt like second class players !!
Excellent course
Has to be in the top 3-4 public courses in the area . Staff couldn’t be more friendly & helpful.
Definitely be back !
