Not Worth the Time or Money
This course has quite a few problems.
1) Even though it hasn't rained in days, the sand traps were all un-playable. Not sure if on almost every hole the sprinklers were broken, but the sand traps were under repair or had a lot of standing water in them.
2) They couldn't even provide a starter even though they were trying to pair up 2-somes and such.
3) There was a 2 some in front of us playing quite slow. So slow in fact that we were waiting on them every hole. I was playing with a 3 some, and there was a 3 some behind us. On hole 5, we were sitting in the fairway waiting to hit, when wouldn't you know it, there is a ball that goes flying past us 30 feet in the air. Couldn't believe this, but yes, it was intentional. How do I know, the group never once apologized and no one could yell a simple "four!". To hit into someone and say you didn't know you could hit it that far is one thing, but when you hit past them by 30 yards and don't yell four, it's intentional and dangerous. We called the club house, because there is no marshall or anything on the course, and they blew it off basically. They came out finally and talked to the group, but they didn't do anything! UGH! Frustrating! The group still never apologized, and the guy didn't try to speed up play by letting the 3 somes play past the slow two some. The groups actions of hitting into us was uncalled for, the course's response was negligent at best.
4) When we asked for a refund on hole #5 because of this, it was not granted, we were forced to play with these conditions. Finally, we just left at hole #9, no refund given.
Nicely kept course with somewhat fast greens. I liked it.
The front nine is pretty open with wide fairways. A slice on holes 4,5 or 6 will put your ball into a house or yard. The back nine has tighter fairways with a little more water involved on possibly 4 holes.
Hitting fairways are important, pace of play slows at green, for most everyone. They are amoung the best in county. Large and fast w subtle brakes
A fun corse with great fairways and large fantastic, smooth, fast greens. A pleasuring challenge to putt on. Bunkers are in need of work.
Excellent value 4 star course
Cumberland Trail has some of the best greens in the area. The course was in excellent condition. It is an excellent track with diverse holes. Course has generous fairways and is mostly open with a few tight holes. The only downside was the bunkers varied quite a bit with the amount and texture of the sand.
Every hole is a challenge. No throwaways.
Greens are the fastest I've played this year and in very good shape. Challenging driving course because there is water or OB on almost every hole, although the landing areas are fairly generous. Definitely need a cart b/c there are long green to tee distances.
Must Play
If you want a course with little elavation changes that is in great condition on the east side of Columbus, this is the one for you.
True greens, pretty good condition overall
The course was a little beat up; seems like its seen a lot of play recently. The greens here are always good. They rolled true and were in overall good condition. Definitely faster than your average course. With a little more care the course would be in great shape. There are a lot of houses on the front so if you want total privacy, this probably isn't your track. For the money and location, this is always a great place to play. Top tier public course.
needs marshal law
we got put behind a group of 4 seniors that each had their own cart. they were put behind a group of 4 seniors that each had their own cart also. Both groups were very slow and the golfers from both groups were hitting 2 and sometimes more balls throughout the round. We were waiting no less then 12 to 15 minutes to tee off per hole on the back nine. would have left after 13 except that I had never played there before and at least wanted to see the whole course. I will not play it again ever. They need a marshal to keep pace of play up and to keep golfers to hitting just 1 ball. I must admit watching 4 to 8 carts driving back and forth on the same whole was quite amusing for awhile.
greens quick course holds water
Overall, this is a great golf course for the deals you can get.
Greens are large and quick and roll really true. Beware though many undulations make for a challenging putting day!
Only drawback is the course holds water after its rained.
Great course!
One of my favorite courses! The greens are always great and I love the layout!
Pretentious
Let me start by saying that this is a nice golf course. The course is well taken care of with the exception of not having enough sand in the bunkers so after a rain the bunkers play more like clay.
The issue I have is with the staff and some course members. We had a foursome so we let a couple smaller groups play through on the front nine. At the turn we stopped to get a hot dog and something to drink, and since the course wasn't very crowded, we decided to eat at the clubhouse before making the turn. The person working the grill area made it a point to come find us and tell us that a league was coming in 4 hours....let me repeat 4 HOURS....and that if we weren't off the course they would kick us off. This after we had played the front nine in an hour and a half.
So after that unpleasant exchange, we finished eating and went on to 10. There a member pulled up behind us after finishing 9, and berated us for not immediately making the turn, even though throughout the final 9 we never saw them because they played so slow.
All in all a very nice course, but I would never recommend it to anyone for the way we were treated and spoken to. I've played Muirfield, TPC courses in a few different states, and several country clubs and public courses, and this was by far the rudest group of individuals I have encountered on a golf course.
Save yourself the headache and play Westchester or Blacklick on the east side of Columbus and you'll have a much more enjoyable experience.
NIce course, friendly staff, slow play
The layout has good character, the distances are marked on many sprinkler heads and the course was in good condition. Friendly helpful staff, but pace of play was very slow in a five hour round. We had to wait on nearly every hole on first & second shots. Our foursome was playing behind a male & female twosome that we were told were members. The man waited to hit his shot even if the players in front of him were impossible to reach with his limited abilities. Twosomes on a Sunday morning are not a good idea.
I love this course
I would play this course every week if I had the money and time. I typicslly play well here and never have a bad time. I would recommend this course to anybody.
Fun Course
This course is fun and friendly to the average golfer. My only negative is both times we played the course was backed up. Waiting at the tee box each hole seems to be the norm.
course is in great condition
I love cumberland trail. It is only ten minutes from my house which is great and the course is always well maintained. I would like to see the driving range open. The last few times ive been there the range was closed and the weather was good.
foster
It was a good round and the pace of play was my only concern, over five hours to complete the round, waited on every hole, however relaxed and took my time and did not mind because I was in no hurry.
Great value/conditions considering weather
Played here yesterday... Course was in excellent condition consider the recent weather challenges. Greens were extremely soft which surprised me since I've heard they run very fast... My home course's greens are much faster as of today but the greens were in great shape so can't knock them too much. Overall....fun little course, had challenging holes but by and large rewarded well targeted shots.
Bunkers weren't maintained yet and pace of play was an issue (tee'd off after 3pm Sunday!), but this is a borderline 5 star for me. If we wouldn't have jumped a couple groups at the turn and skipped the halfway house we would've had a nearly 5 hr round.
Bottom line...solid course and I'll definitely be back, especially at very competitive golf now prices!
Sand trap needs a lot of work!!!!
green was big, fast and well maintained.
Hole # 12 was very challenging so was hole #16.
Greens Great Shape For Early Spring
The fairways, tee boxes and greens were in good condition for early spring. I wish golfers would repair more of their divots so I could rate the course in pristine shape.
Great conditions
One of the nicest conditioned public course in the central Ohio. Usually fastest greens around the area. It has nice mix of holes and never disappoints.
