Manakiki Golf Course
About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Must Play Metro Course
I played this course many years back and always thought I needed to come back and play again. All too many years later I finally did with my 3 sons and glad we did.
Overall the staff was great. Starter at the first tee is awesome. Makes sure everyone is ready to go and announces he is on the Tee box. Gentleman in the pro-shop where you have to pay was the least friendly person we met at the course.
course was in good condition despite a rather dry summer. Greens rolled very true and FAST!
When we think of N. Ohio we think of everything being flat. Not this course. Great layout without lots of rolling hills and trees. Nice to play a round of golf and feel like your out in nature as opposed to playing target golf laid out in a housing development. housing type development.
We will be back!
This is too good to be a public course!!
I first started playing here after moving to Cleveland in 1983; at that time the course was usually rock hard dry or standing water in the lower fairways. Now this is truly one magnificent golf course! The layout is classic Donald Ross-open access into the front of the greens allowing run up shots but don’t dare go long!!! Greens are fast and amazingly good shape (better than many private clubs in Cleveland I’ve played!) for a muni. As with any public course, pace of play can be iffy. The ONLY negative thing I can say about the course is that the quality of the bunkers are not in keeping with the rest of the course but some have already been improved and hopefully the rest will follow. If you have the chance-Don’t Miss Playing This Course!
A classic gem
Truly wonderful layout and conditions...greens aren't slow by any means and run very true. Only encountered 1 group that was hesitant to let myself (a solo) through, everyone else was very mindful of etiquette. Can't say enough great things about this place, just wish covid would go away so water coolers, cart girls and ball washers would come back.
Too good!
First time playing Manakiki in 2 years and it just keeps getting better. Greens were perfect and rolled so true. The layout is timeless. Front nine was a little slow, but one group seemed guilty of holding up everything. They were done after 9, and we flew on the back. Played in 3:50. Can’t recommend this course enough.
Great Layout
I've played here for years and love the layout. Can play very slow at times but yesterday finished in 4 hrs. conditions of the course were a little dry in some spots but generally excellent
Uncle Joe
The cups seem to move right after you strike your putt. On the other hand I did beat my three sons so it was a good day and I won’t further complain.
Great track !!!
First time playing this course after hearing about it for so long. Loved the layout and conditions.
Awesome find and worth the drive
We come to Cleveland often to visit family but usually stay on the west side. we decided to make the drive to Mankiki for something different and what a great experience it was!
we thouroughly enjoyed the experience. You can tell it’s been getting a lot of play (what course hasn’t this summer) yet the greens and fairways were in great shape.
Picturesque with veeg few houses to distract you from the courses beauty. a classic Donald Ross design that gives just the right amount of challenge.
The Ranger was just as nice as can be and gave several tips. you could tell he takes great pride in his course.
Will most definitely play this course again!
Rained hard chased us back to Hubbard
What a shame to drive from Hubbard 1hour 20 minutes to be rained out after only 12 holes .what I saw i really liked. Kind of tuff playing first time. Wish senior tees were around 5500 yards not 5000 yards or 6000 yards. All in all it was a great course and the staff was all very friendly. Probably will return next year
