About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Dont play right now Bad greens
Course is in great shape, However the greens are horrible. They were airrated and haven't grown back in, so they decided to roll them super fast...big mistake...
Couldn't even keep a flop shot on the greens, ball bounces 2 feet in the air apon landing and shots off the back like concrete...
Wait to play once the greens have fully grown back in, and can be rolled properly..m
Classic Donald Ross must play.
Fantastic albeit difficult course to navigate. Many uphill/forced carry approach shots. If hitting into uphill greens gives you trouble you will not like it here, but the course if so awesome the big number you’ll surely put up shouldn’t bother you. If you have an appreciation for Donald Ross, this is a historic layout that is an absolute must play for serious players. Beginners beware, you’ll shoot 120, maybe. Have fun.
Greens were punched
All the greens were punched and sanded. Ball did not hold and it bounced and wiggled while rolling. No where did the Golf Now website say the green were not 100% ready for play! We were not happy!
Course conditions fair...greens awful
Pace of play very slow and greens were recently aerated and sanded. Holes were not filled in completely so putts bounced all the way to hole.
Nice course, WORST staff
Overall, Manakiki is the best of all of the Cleveland Metroparks courses. Couple of gimmicky holes, but it is a fun and thought-provoking design that challenges players of all skill levels. Back is super hilly while the front is pretty open with a good amount of doglegs.
From a staff perspective, I would rate them a solid 0/10. Played last weekend and after an hour frost delay (it's Cleveland, it happens), we decided to play 9 holes. I asked the starter if we could just go off the back to which he snapped back "No." When asked why, he simply said "because I said so." When I gave him a blank stare back, he simply said that we would be cutting in line but if we were only playing 9 holes, how would we be cutting ahead? He also said that he wanted to prevent the other golfers from only playing 9 instead of 18, which was absurd. I worked at a golf course for 6 years and if I responded like he did to a customer, I would have been fired on the spot
A Donald Ross classic - well maintained and great layout
Played on a near winter day. The course was in good shape, I have played many times before. The staff was friendly, and the course setup and design are classic Donald Ross. Important in Cleveland in the fall, leaves were blown so one can find their ball. highly recommend.

Nice course. Tough course. I signed up for their rewards program but it doesn’t work if I book online. And I always book online. So that was a waste.
Rough Start... Probably won't return.
Arrived and checked in great 12:40 pm . Our Tee time is 1 pm, paid in full online. Was told no golf carts available. Go and wait at the cart return area and wait for a clean cart. Went to the starting booth twice asking if someone was cleaning the carts. Finally got a clean cart at 1:05. Loaded clubs, drove to the tee, and got harassed by the starting booth saying they called our 2 some and sent my grouping out and we needed to catch the 2 some walking up the fairway .And we need to hurry up. I talked to them twice. They knew I was waiting for a "clean cart". We were ready to tee off. THEY WERE NOT!! 3rd time at Manakiki and each time I've been there the organization has gotten worse each time. Probably won't return.
Brutal but magnificent course
Played on a sunny but cold day and had rained the last couple of days so it was muddy in spots but a magnificent layout with no boring holes! What a beautiful course but not for beginners!
Well worth the time and money.
Enjoyed playing this Donald Ross layout. Very nice golf course with a fair degree of difficulty. The staff was very friendly and help to make it a very pleasurable round of golf.
Great layout and Greens
Even though the greens were aerated the week of Sept. 21, the greens still rolled really nice and quick. Group in front of us on front 9 was slow, but back 9 went really quick. Fortunately, they let us go ahead of them on the back, which was nice. Course is always in great shape, along with fun and challenging to play. The staff is great.
Had plugged the greens and tee box area a few weeks ago and was a little sandy but still very playable.

Course is in great shape! Pace of play was a little slow, but we finished 18 in about 4 hours. Just seemed like we waited on almost every hole. Greens were super fast.
