Manakiki Golf Course
About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Always a nice place
Great golf course nice layout the geeens were fantastic and running true as can be staff was really nice at the snack bar and the clubhouse one of if not my favorite course
Course has fun/challenging holes and very decent conditions
Staff very friendly. Pace all day was slow due to a very slow 4 some. On back 9 a 2-some let me play through but 4-some would not!!! Where was the ranger? Finally had to skip a hole to get ahead of the jerk 4-some!!!
Excellent Experience at Manakiki!
I returned to Manakiki after about 10 years and wondered why it's been so long since I last played there! The layout is excellent - challenging, but it's a beautiful course. As always, the greens were in excellent condition - very smooth and very, very fast. We took the day off on a Monday to play, and it felt like we had the course to ourselves. I highly recommend this course for decent players - I would probably not recommend for beginners, unless your pace of play is no more than 4.5 hours. Some of the fairways are narrow, trees are large and established, and there is some water and quite a bit of sand.
This course is in great shape except for the hornets in most of the sandtraps
Always seems to be in good shape. Takes time to buy your ticket. It seems everyone is moving in slow motion. Need to play at the right time because play is usually slow.
Golf Heaven
I cannot put into words what an incredibly beautiful course this. I doubt there is anywhere in the world where you can play a Donald Ross gem for anything close to the very reasonable fees. The course conditions were PERFECT! The staff were all very helpful and happy. The greens were country club perfect and probably rolling 11-12 on the Stimp. Tees times run every 10 minutes not every 7-8 at many muni course. Even playing with a VERY slow friend we played in four hours. If you do not enjoy this incredible, fair test of golf, you must not know golf. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! N
Tough, tough greens, Yikes!
The course is well-maintained and the layout challenging. Very hilly. But the greens are the hardest I have played in NE Ohio. Very fast and very difficult to read.
You must play this course.
Stay Away and Don't Play!!!
Great course, great layout. However, stay away and don't play here. The staff make the experience so miserable that you want to pick up your ball and leave after 5 holes. The staff doesn't seem to understand that when we pay greens fees we are guests and we should be treated as guests. Instead the staff is dismissive, condescending and they are extremely rude to you when you are on the course. Several others players complained after the round was over, but I'm sure they will not write a review here. The people who work at the snack bar are very nice, but the on course staff are truly rotten. Stay away and don't play until the people at Manakiki learn to treat people as guests. Awful experience!
Quality of this golf course
The holes are laid out well. Each hole has its own set of challenging features but is definitely a great challenge for any level of golfer. Extremely impressed by the grooming of the course. I can definitely tell that the property is treated well
Challenging but good course!
Course is challenging if you fail to hit the fairways! The day I went the course had gotten a lot of rain the night before so the course was sloppy. It doesn't drain that well but I'm sure I would've had a better experience had it been dry. If you miss the fairway you might as well add another stroke to your card. All in all the course wasn't bad layout wise but I wish I would've went on day where it wasn't so wet.
Manakiki
I absolutely hated my round there. The course could have been in so much better shape. The course looked ran down and retains water terribly. Drainage is horrible. Greens are solid, fairways nice, rough challenging but tee boxes are garbage. Pace of Play is terrible. Been to places busier and they didn't run this slow. Averaging time between holes was 30 plus minutes. I will not come back to this course and not sure how it is "rated" in top 3. Don't waste your money. Sleepy Hallow 100x better.
Rough, rough
Course in great shape, green rolled really true, the rough was thick and you really get penalized for hitting it in there. Great test!
always a great place to go
don't pass up getting to play one of the best courses in the area. the people are great too!!!
As a frequent golfer of Manakiki i can say in the past year (2017) the grounds crew has been working on installing water drains threw out the course. This i believe has solved the water retention issue and the pace of play is only slow during busy weekend hours.
