Good Old golf course!
Some would say Mohawk golf course has seen its better day but the layout is still there but the action has slowed down! I have seen the course in better shape but Mother Nature has not been good to the course. Still, one can get an enjoyable round out of it. Golf Now got me a reasonable price and made it worth it. Probably wouldn’t pay full price to play there since the rates have gone up like everything else?
Mohawk golf course apocolypse
Through the years, I've played here. Was a decently cared for course.
But my how times change.
Really rundown.
Tee boxes are so-so, but half of them are unmarked either by missing markers, or deteriorated lettering.
The cart paths are atrocious, you should have 4x4 rentals available.
The fairways are mostly rough, patchy, and dirt.
Needs a tree trimming on some locations.
The greens are doable, and they keep cold water coolers on the paths.
The price of 32-45$ to play 18 holes is not a good value here.
Should be a $20 course.
Can't really recommend this course any longer.
But it is something to practice on.
Slow
There were a group of 8 in front of us. No one patrols the course there were people jumping around took us 5 1/2 hours to play. When it’s 100 out you don’t want to play a 5 hour round. We called the martial and after multiple calls from others they came out and split them up. That was on hole 14 at that point it was a waste they were on hole 16. Probably won’t play here again.
Good layout but terrible conditions
Sand traps are gravel and no sand. The roughs are too thick. Cant find your ball. However the layout is good.
This is a complete dirt track
For the price they want for this course there are many many many other courses you can play cheaper that are in way better condition. The hunkers haven’t been touched in years and are full of weeds and mud. The fairways are literal dirt in most places with patches of grass. Will not play here again and wish I occupy get my 50 dollars back only to light the money on fire as that would have given me more entertainment than this course did.
same ol mohawk
been playing here 50yrs. city will not spend $$ on it. greens are fine, bunkers are TERRIBLE, and fairways are spotty at best. staff is great, great Maxwell layout but REALLY needs major surgery. only reason i play is cheap online times and a good place to work on game.
Good Value
Woodbine was surprisingly spongy on the greens and most of the fairways. They are still recovering from some harsh winter damage last year. Whereas there are some bald spots that are a bit of an eyesore, they are extremely playable. I ended up on a few and got up and down fairly easy. Its not a particularly difficult course to maneuver and holes 12 and 14 are nearly identical besides the tree lines. 13 and 16 are essentially twins as well. However 14 and 16 are a smidge longer. Its very easy to get lulled to sleep and misjudge 14 and 16. The front plays fair, 1st hole is a breeze if you play middle to right side on the fairway, taking the trees out of play. The 2nd and 3rd are pretty straight forward. The par 3's on the front are complete opposites. 4 is very short and 7 is very long. You get a good variety on Woodbine as far as clubs, youll typically use your whole bag in one round which creates some skill required, but not entirely much. The wind is typically your worst enemy on most holes. Also, hole 10 is home to a whole mess of water moccasins so steer clear of the pond on the left side of the fairway. I made the mistake of hitting one too close to the waters edge and saw some good sized snakes retreat to the water, which will give the nerves a good shot taking your stroke with you back to the waters edge. All in all I love the course. Obviously some landscaping needed but, when its finished Im sure its going to make it a beautiful course. They do good work on the greens, Id wager its professional quality. I have noticed on both Pecan Valley and Woodbine both greens play exceptionally well. Great quality.
Woodbine with the grands
Was able to get a round in walking with my two high school aged grandsons. They are new at the game so we were not moving fast and let a couple of vf groups in carts play through.
Being early in the season there are some large areas missing grass from last years storms where brush had accumulated and killed the grass. Hopefully these will fill in.
Always have had a good experience here.
Good day at Woodbine
Had two. We golfers with me so our pace was not great 4 hour round walking the course. We did let groups play through.
Due to the tree damage last year and the subsequent dead areas that resulted from downed trees and debris, there were lots of grass free areas that impacted play. Hopefully they will fill in soon. Always appreciate the course for its easy access and friendly staff.
Still not spring ready
Fairways still have a long way to go. Lots of dirt rather than grass.
So Disappointing
Played this course a lot pre-2000 and have a ton of memories. Yes, it's early March, but this course isn't worth playing until the fairways recover...many dead spots in the fairway. The city of Tulsa should be embarrassed by the conditions of our City owned courses. The amount of trash in the creeks, the conditions of the rough and fairways were rough. The bermuda greens were the slowest greens I've experience in 15 years. Hey Mayor, where are we on this? https://www.cityoftulsa.org/press-room/city-announces-renewed-commitment-to-municipal-golf-courses/
I won't be back until the City invests in golf.
