About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

Challenging but fair
In the best condition I have seen in years. Great greens and fairways and the rough was cut to a manageable height.
You get what you pay for
I picked up a 2 spot hot deal for $50 and that's what this course is worth. It was not worth the additional $40 for the cart. I play courses that are 3x more expensive and don't pay that much for the cart. You can't drive to the range. The GPS in the cart did not work the entire front 9, The pace of play was good until we caught up with a 4 some of 50 year old guys who were basically drunk and obnoxious. I even had to intervene when they were making the cart girl uncomfortable. There was no ranger at all the entire day. At times, we had 2 other groups behind us waiting. The course has a few nice holes, but most of the tee boxes had weeds. It was not worth the hour plus drive from New Jersey and was not worth the $90. I won't be coming back, No Thanks.
Great Day With My Sons!
Course was so lush and so manicured. The fairways were like an expensive country club. The greens were smooth but a little slow and I have no problem with that. I think it’s smart. They’re keeping them a little bit slow so they’re much more smooth and not burnt out, too many courses too fast and it’s not as fun for the average player….A wonderful wonderful day with my two sons…. highly highly recommend! Good food also in the Restaurant! My two sons ordered a hamburger and they told us to play the 10th hole and they’ll bring it out to us. So they delivered two hamburgers on the 11th Fairway… classy establishment!!
Private club like conditions!
You won’t find a public course with better conditions, in this area, at any price. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were soft and smooth. The carts have GPS screens, which is a nice feature.
The only negative things for me would be that I felt rushed for the majority of the round, probably because I wasn’t playing with scratch golfers, and the carts have that auto shutoff feature. That feature is always annoying but it would help if there was some kind of markings on the course to let you know areas to avoid, and to allow the cart to go in reverse once it shuts down. Maybe I just had a bad cart because ones I’ve used in the past ( at other courses) would always allow you to back up.
Overall, though , a great golf course which I will definitely be playing again!
