Casperkill Golf Club
About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

Great shape
Course has come a long way from what it looked like from the start of the season. It was in great shape in my opinion. Greens were a little slow, but very healthy and beautiful. I just wished attitudes of some of the employees their were better.
Great course - Excellent condition
The course was a super deal on golf now.... GPS in every cart... Excellent condition... Will surly play this course again.... Loved my round.....
Pro-shop staff openly hostile to Golfnow users
I've made the trip to Casperkill twice after finding deals on Golfnow. The first time I got there 5-10 minutes before my tee time and Jennifer in the pro-shop told me my group was already out on the course. I smiled and said oh, they got out a little early eh? She replied, "that's why we tell you to be 20minutes early!" I went out and found another golfer on the practice green with my tee time and we paired up. The place was not busy. The next time I walked into the pro-shop and Jennifer came out of the back room and I smiled and said I have an 11:40 and she told me to wait here because she liked to "deal with all you Golfnow users together." When I came back she pointed out to the carts and said I'd be riding with "that guy over there". I asked for my own cart and she said no. I said golfnow said I get a cart. She said "you don't get your own cart". I said it didn't say that and she practically yelled, "you are paying almost nothing!". I asked why she posts sites on golfnow if she doesn't want us there and asked for her name. She told me to "go ahead, write golfnow about it!". So I did. Beware golfnow users. Jennifer treats Golfnow users like 2nd rate citizens.
Ranger danger
First time playing the course with some friends. The course was in good condition nice tee boxes and fairways the greens were in good shape challenging but fair. The only thing that needs improvement is the signage and the friendliness of the Rangers pretty grouchy but I guess everyone is entitled to have a bad day every now and then.
I would recommend the course to others it was a nice day out.
Nice challenging course
This is a well laid out course suitable for all intermediate and advanced players.
Employees mad at golf now
Casperkill is a great course to play. The only think I didn't like was when I went to check in for my tee time the man at the counter was annoyed that I booked the time on golf now. I paid 10$ for a round that usually costs 50$. He then went on to tell me how they are losing money by letting people book tee times on golf now. I didn't really see how this was my problem, but my experience would have been better if I didn't have to hear the guy b itch about scoring a great deal. Thanks golf now!
A Pleasant Surprise
For a public course that sees considerable use the fairways and greens were in fine condition, rivaling several local members only courses. Lots of contours and challenges, and a very beautiful layout.
Lovely course and kept in good condition
Only issue was that the greens had damage due to the bad winter and several are still not entirely back. Otherwise very enjoyable and some nice golf holes.
good course
A great course to play and was in excellent condition
Casperkill Golf Course
Course is in good shape. Greens seemed to vary in speed. Staff was friendly and helpful.
good course, friendly staff
good course but all the par three tees were way up. Had a 1:00 start and finished in the dark.
Great Day
first time on course, very well maintained very nice staff i would recommend playing here. I will be back it is challenging, but definitely fun
Casperkill
Very nice course. In very good condition. Greens were a little slower than I like to play. Nice layout, fairly open, so not too difficult. I would certainly recommend it if you are in the area and looking for a nice course at a reasonable price. Play did seem to be a little slow for a week day, but not unbearable.
Great Course
There were many challenges and difficult holes with creeks and multi-tiered greens to navigate. It was fun
Better than average
A very nice course. Scenic, well maintained, nice fairways, greens, and bunkers. More difficult than most with a 129 slope from the white tees. Try it and you will be glad you did!
Great Course, Pace of play.
The pace of play was kind of long for mid-week, almost 5 hours.
Great Condition
The course is in great condition, the greens were a little slow but not bad. They put new sand in the bunkers with makes sand play much better. You will not be disappointed playing this course.
You have to play this course!
Course was in excellent shape! Never waited at any hole and staff was friendly and helpful! This is a Robert Trent jones course and it's fun and have some tough but fun holes. Highly recommend it!
Great course but poor bar and food service
We played as a threesome and found the course challenging but fair. The green were slow!!!!!! The use of GPS in the carts was a definite plus!!!!!
Overall the course was in good shape. The only down side was when we used the option on the GPS to order food. We ordered on the 8th tee and when we arrived at the bar/restaurant to get our order we were told by the very sexy waitress/hostess/bartender that the cook was working on our order. Well 20 minutes later we FINALLY got our order. Worst burger I ever had - HOCKEY PUCK that was over cooked - I MEAN BURNT!!!!! We went to the 10th tee where we found ourselves behind 3 more groups.
However, we had a great time.
