Casperkill Golf Club
About
Casperkill Golf Club in Poughkeepsie is situated in the heart of the Hudson River Highlands, surrounded by acres of lush, rolling countryside. The course wanders through stands of towering oak trees and circles a few tranquil ponds before moving along the banks of its namesake creek. The gently rolling hills provide the course with elevated tees and terraced greens. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1944. He created a traditional layout that fully utilizes all of the features of the scenic terrain. The course finishes with a player-friendly hole that offers a great opportunity for a birdie. There is a bunker in front of the green but if played smartly as a three-shot hole, golfers will be generously rewarded. In addition to the golf course, Casperkill also offers a driving range with multiple target greens and a large practice putting green with a chipping and bunker area.

Great course
We had a great time. The course was beautiful and played the same. We will definitely be going back
Fun course to play
Course was in great shape, rough was thick and greens were slow. I expected greens to be quick since it was sunny and hot out. Overall I would recommend this course.
Casperkill
Fun course. Challenging but fun
Ed@Casperkill 6/30
Course in excellent condition.Greens were true and had good speed. Rough is tough to find ball because of clover. My twosome played 18 holes in less than 4 hours.
One of the premier courses to play in the area
As always, this course was a pleasure to play and got a bonus of playing extra holes thanks to an outing being held there. Excellent weather too.
The course conditions were awesome.. fairways, greens. A pleasure to play.
good condition
much better condition than the last time I played last year
Rough and bunker need to be address
Bunker need sand and the rough are extremely high , need cutting
Always a nice experience
I have been there on several occasions and found the course always in good shape. Some holes are very challenging (b. e. 2 and 11) others are quite easy, it's a good mix.
Golf in Nov.
First time here, thought the carts were noisy and lacking any power. The course was in excellent shape, the only thing I noticed was that at a coupe of holes it wasn't really clear where the tee box was. This happened on 9 and 17 I believe. Way finding could have been better for a course of this quality. If the weather gods permit we may book a tee time for next weekend here.
The clubhouse was pretty beat other than that I would highly recommend this course.
Greens we're in superb shape!!
Course was in great shape, staff very Friendly, unfortunately there was a foursome in front of us with zero etiquette. Overall good experience. Looking to go back next week.
Casperkill was great but GolfNow had problems
I booked a time & a great price at Casperkill in Poughkeepsie, NY. Course was in great fall shape. Normally when I use GolfNow, everything is good and I sign in, pick up cart and I'm playing. At Casperkill, I needed to pay for the round as the only thing charged was a GolfNow processing fee and then I had to pay for the cart. I didn't look closely enough at the GolfNow voucher to realize it was different than what I normally expected. The proshop accommodated me and I played and got a great deal. And I saw 3 deer up close.
Great shape
Course has come a long way from what it looked like from the start of the season. It was in great shape in my opinion. Greens were a little slow, but very healthy and beautiful. I just wished attitudes of some of the employees their were better.
Great course - Excellent condition
The course was a super deal on golf now.... GPS in every cart... Excellent condition... Will surly play this course again.... Loved my round.....
Pro-shop staff openly hostile to Golfnow users
I've made the trip to Casperkill twice after finding deals on Golfnow. The first time I got there 5-10 minutes before my tee time and Jennifer in the pro-shop told me my group was already out on the course. I smiled and said oh, they got out a little early eh? She replied, "that's why we tell you to be 20minutes early!" I went out and found another golfer on the practice green with my tee time and we paired up. The place was not busy. The next time I walked into the pro-shop and Jennifer came out of the back room and I smiled and said I have an 11:40 and she told me to wait here because she liked to "deal with all you Golfnow users together." When I came back she pointed out to the carts and said I'd be riding with "that guy over there". I asked for my own cart and she said no. I said golfnow said I get a cart. She said "you don't get your own cart". I said it didn't say that and she practically yelled, "you are paying almost nothing!". I asked why she posts sites on golfnow if she doesn't want us there and asked for her name. She told me to "go ahead, write golfnow about it!". So I did. Beware golfnow users. Jennifer treats Golfnow users like 2nd rate citizens.
Ranger danger
First time playing the course with some friends. The course was in good condition nice tee boxes and fairways the greens were in good shape challenging but fair. The only thing that needs improvement is the signage and the friendliness of the Rangers pretty grouchy but I guess everyone is entitled to have a bad day every now and then.
I would recommend the course to others it was a nice day out.
Nice challenging course
This is a well laid out course suitable for all intermediate and advanced players.
Employees mad at golf now
Casperkill is a great course to play. The only think I didn't like was when I went to check in for my tee time the man at the counter was annoyed that I booked the time on golf now. I paid 10$ for a round that usually costs 50$. He then went on to tell me how they are losing money by letting people book tee times on golf now. I didn't really see how this was my problem, but my experience would have been better if I didn't have to hear the guy b itch about scoring a great deal. Thanks golf now!
A Pleasant Surprise
For a public course that sees considerable use the fairways and greens were in fine condition, rivaling several local members only courses. Lots of contours and challenges, and a very beautiful layout.
Lovely course and kept in good condition
Only issue was that the greens had damage due to the bad winter and several are still not entirely back. Otherwise very enjoyable and some nice golf holes.
