Mountain View Golf Club
About
Mountain View Golf Course is located half way between downtown Portland and Mt. Hood in Boring, Oregon. This 18-hole course stretches for 5,926 yards from the blue tees and is an excellent course for those of you who are looking for a challenge. Rolling fairways lined with trees and greens with well-placed bunkers await the unprepared golfer.
The biggest attraction at the course is signature hole #12. This is one of the most unique holes in the Portland area. It's 184 yards from the blue tees and 180 feet down (that's almost 18 stories). If you would normally use a 4 or 5 iron for 184 yards, you better switch to an 8 or 9 on this one. Check out the hole in our photo gallery and then call for a tee time.

Wonderful Walk
This is a lovely course but definitely you will want to grab a bite at the cafe or bring a snack ~ right around the 5th hole you will be glad you did. Those with a long drive will particularly enjoy this course but watch out for those water hazards!
Great rate, nice staff, course was in good shape, beautiful day in November.
Keep up the great service! Beautiful course with great people running it.
Fun course that needs to be played a couple times to score
Second time on the course in two months. Dosen't drain great. Experience in September much better. Fun shorter course great buy now but not prestine conditions.
This course is an average Oregon course. It has great scenery, with views of MT. Hood.
Hole # 12 is a fun hole to play. You shoot into a canyon from an elevated tee.
Signature Hole a Hazard
Mt. View is close to our home, located in a beautiful setting. My husband has played there several times; I've played there just a few. After this last visit, we decided that we won't be playing there any more. The front Nine is quite nice, and can be walked easily. The back nine is another story. The signature hole--12--is located down a STEEP, narrow path that would be extremely difficult to walk, and was nearly impassible even with a cart. We slid, skidded down the path even though the brakes were fully applied the entire time. The rest of the back nine is more accessible, but very challenging for an average golfer.
Course conditions are bad
It would've been nice to know before making the reservation, that the greens were going to be sanded and aerated. The greens had almost as much sand as the the sand traps and when we book the tee time, there was no indication that they were going to be sanded. Also the fairways had a lot of mowed grass and debris on it.. Course seemed to be in poor conditions. Also a lot of excess water and mud on the cart paths. Will be our last time playing here
pace of play too slow.
pace of play way too slow. Fairways in OK shape. Multiple tee boxes to fit all levels of glofer. Greens had been punched recently. Starter a very nice gentleman.
Not sure why it played so slow, but they should do something about it.
Gorgeous course, maintained well, easy walk-on
Very nice course, great condition, good golf carts, front 9 relatively easy walk. After 1 pm rates super cheap, after 4 rates unbeatable. Staff is very accommodation. Don't recommend walking back 9.
Quite a par 3!
Fun course. Careful on the drive to the bottom of the par three, especially if it is wet. Deer, nice views, interesting test.
this course is fun to play when you're playing good but I wasn't playing very good but I had fun anyway
I played your signature hole took a 8 iron and dropped the ball 4ft from the flag and should of made a birdie but settle for a par. the greens were great, but man they were fast the fairways were cut nice and were nice and green. I alway enjoy playing here. the only thing I can say bad about my experience here is I need to learn to play golf again.
Great greens
The course was in decent shape and the greens were excellent! They were deceptively fast but rolled true. Not many people so pace of play was good too. Nice course for the money. Will definitely be back!
good shape, fast greens...carts need new batteries.
Course is in decent shape, first time played here. Course has fast undulating greens but putt true to the line. Back 9 is very hilly and carts couldn't carry the weight of a 110lb lady and 170 lb man - invest in batteries -
Wow!
I hadn't played here in at least 25 years. The course and clubouse have been fixed up, with new greens on some holes and one par 3 lengthened and improved. The greens are in tip-top shape. We throroughly enjoyed our round.
Nice course for everyone
Played here on a Sunday morning, super friendly pro shop, range was right across from pro shop. The starter was great gave us a few pointers on the trickier holes on the course. Greens rolled really nice and the course looked in great shape, the membership obviously look after the course as there was not very many divot marks on the greens and no broken tees on the tee box. Signature hole is the par 3 12th, 180 yds but you tee off 200ft above the hole, great view. Nice walking friendly layout, carts are provided but the course is very easy to walk. The restaurant was good value with the good service continuing in here as well. definitely would play here again.
Hole 12 is very unique!
Mountain View is located in Boring, Oregon with Mt. Hood as a backdrop. It is a well maintained course with a very friendly staff. The front 9 is pretty straight forward, however, the back 9 becomes more technical. There you find the 12th hole, which is a par3 with a tee box 100+ feet above the green. Be careful navigating the switch back cart path, it can be a little hairy! Mountain View is a nice course located in a quiet setting.
The best value for the Golfnow price.
First time at this course. Its a ways from me(almost an hour) , but the overall value and fun we had was great!
I didnt know what to expect with the pricing. I was pleasantly surprise by the condition of the course, some challenging holes, water comes into play, and the course is not flat.
I want to give hole 12 another chance to land a ball on its fine postage stamp green. I dont want to walk that hole again, you definitely need a cart with good brakes and tread.
We saw the cart girl several times - which is always good for a public course.
We will, I will , play this course again. This is the best value on Golfnow!
Challenging but fun
A challenging and difficult course. Plenty of hard hills and blind shots. Better to play with a member who knows the yardage and where to hit the ball.
Love playing number 12, dangerous and steep cart path to get from tee to green. Be safe,
Mountain View
Played the blues (6018/68.8/122) in slightly less than 4H on a prepaid Golf Now deal for $16.99 that included a cart. Carts are older, no GPS, which would be beneficial here, because the course is NOT well marked for yardages. They have cement stones in the center of the fairways @ 100/150/200 that have not been repainted in awhile and are often hard to see from even 20 yards away.
The greens putt nice. They are smooth, medium fast to fast, firm and many greens have moderate to VERY severe slopes/breaks. The greens (along with many tall trees) are the teeth of this course, some of the short par 4's and short par 5's look like birdie holes on the scorecard and from the approach shot... until you get up to and see the green. Holes 2,11,12,15,16 & 17 in particular have very sloping greens from back to front that can produce some downhill putts impossible to stop near the hole unless you make it and even worse, side hill putts with 5, 10, even 20 FEET of break. There also have a couple of greens that are some of the smallest I have ever played on a regulation course. The greens are definitely the best and most challenging part of the course.
The fairways and rough were decent, a little dry but good overall.
The tees were fair to good, they could use some work.
The sand traps were fair, they did not look like they were regularly maintained.
The layout is OK. Their signature hole is #12, a 184 yard severely downhill par 3 where the green is 186 feet lower than the tee. I played it 2 clubs short, should have guessed 3, my 8 iron that sailed over the green into the red hazard (sticker bushes) was my only penalty shot AD.
They have a very nice clubhouse and a restaurant onsite that I did not try. No drink or snack cart and only a few water stations on the course.
Fun little course about 45 minutes SE of Portland, but not one you should drive by other courses or come very far to play.
Overall play was snail like.
I've played this course before and have enjoyed myself. However, 8/2 was ridiculous. We had to wait 15-20 minutes at each hole. Please don't make tee times every 7 minutes.
