Mountain View Golf Club
About
Mountain View Golf Course is located half way between downtown Portland and Mt. Hood in Boring, Oregon. This 18-hole course stretches for 5,926 yards from the blue tees and is an excellent course for those of you who are looking for a challenge. Rolling fairways lined with trees and greens with well-placed bunkers await the unprepared golfer.
The biggest attraction at the course is signature hole #12. This is one of the most unique holes in the Portland area. It's 184 yards from the blue tees and 180 feet down (that's almost 18 stories). If you would normally use a 4 or 5 iron for 184 yards, you better switch to an 8 or 9 on this one. Check out the hole in our photo gallery and then call for a tee time.

terrible course
worst fairways I've ever seen in 80 courses. So bumpy the bag falls off the cart several times. Had to borrow a bungy cord from the pro shop. They need to bulldoze the fairways and reseed. All of the bumps also create holes where the ball hides. I'll only play this course if the price is as low as it was yesterdary. 14.00 with a cart for 18.00
The course was in good condition, many greens had difficult pin positions, almost too difficult, and some of the tee boxes were a little uneven (level
Overall the course was in good shape, fairways were green and the roughs were not cut too high. The back nine pin placements were very difficult. Some of the tee boxes didn't have very good footing as the ground was somewhat bumpy and not level, but overall this was not that big of a deal. Not many places to gauge your distance, the standard 100, 150 and 200 yard markers were in place however.
My home course!!!
Great quiet course just outside the city. Good mix of forgiving and challenging holes. Holes 12 & 15 are tough!!! The best value in town!!!
Pitching wedge on the 12th
The 12th has a 180ft elevated tee box. Quite the shot. Overall course was in good condition. A lot of hackers out there on a sunday. Play was a little slow. Would be nice midweek. Front 9 is more forgiving than the back. Like playing two different courses.
FUN COURSE
MY FAVORITE COURSE IN PTLD AREA. GREAT COUNTRY SETTING. ALL FACILITIES WELL MAINTAINED AND CLEAN.
The course was In very good condition.
I loved that the fairway was cut short, the ball ran a lot . The green were super fast but felt good.
Much Impressive Par3 Hole#12
Thank you for including cart in the Price.
most courses are smooth and moderate, and Awsome Par3 Hole#12. I've seen like this Heights of Par3 at Great Hills C.C in Austin,TX when I was there.
The 12th
The 12th hole .... a 184 yrd par 3, where I hit a wedge, if you are afraid of heights don't look over the edge of the tee box. This is a very pretty course with some very inyeresting holes. Most enjoyable.
Great value, fun course.
We've played it twice since the New Year. Very enjoyable 18. It's just challenging enough to make you feel good about tough shots, and easy enough to make you feel good about average shots. We've already been recommending it to people we grouped up with at other courses.
I just love this course
this course is in great condition and when i'm playing good here i'm playing great at other courses
fun course for your money
We got a deal on golfnow for carts and 18 holes for $15. cant beat that anywhere but this was a course I would pay full price for. it was a little wet, but its spring so that will happen. I really like the whole on the back nine that has the crazy change in elevation. I thought the cart path on the way down was pretty sketchy though.
Mountain view, good golf, good food, great service.
greens were in great shape and fairways drained pretty well for this time of year. it was cart path only which was fine since they
are kindd of narrow anyway so it was never a very long walk. as always the number 12 hole is a site to see and the most fun to play. never get tired of watching that ball drop down to the green
which seems to take forever. i'll come back for more when the weather gets better.
We loved hole nu 12 .
Need a little gravel on the cart path, was a little rough. Course was in great shape for march.
Befitting course for the location
It would be hard to justify a round at full price. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is relaxed. Some of the other golfers can be rather boisterous.
Fun to play
It has it's challenging holes, (especially if you have not played it before) some of the greens on the back are not quite fair ( sloping dramatically) their signature hole is always a blast. Quiet, lots of trees, great view of Mt. Hood.
Fun course, reasonable and in nice shape.
Worth the drive, reasonably long and some tuff greens. #12 is a hoot!
narrow holes make it challenging.
The course has some short par 4's and 5's, but what it lacks in distance it makes up for with tight, hilly, fairways. The Par 3 12th hole is fantastic view from above as well as the view of the creek and nature down below. I will definitely be back.
Challenging but fair!
This course is just FUN to play. Generous fairways, large greens and well laid out. The signature par 3 12th is to be looked forward to. Not only is it a kick in the butt to play but it has a view that might just take your breath away.
#12 is this whole course
Mountain View is fine in the summer, but in winter, forget it...mud, ball plugging, etc. Of course, hole #12 makes it worth it. But be forewarned...when it's wet, it's almost impossible to stop carts from skidding on the steep slope down, even with the brake locked. In fact, we slid into the guard rail once. Also, they need to redo the tee area on #12....it's getting kind of embarrassing. How much would it cost them to rplace the mat occasionally? A few of the greens, particularly #15 and #17, are tricked up to the point as to make them almost unputtable.
There are some unuaual holes and som challenging ones
We had an enjoyable day even with threatening weather. we moved along at a good pace.
