Mountain View Golf Club
About
Mountain View Golf Course is located half way between downtown Portland and Mt. Hood in Boring, Oregon. This 18-hole course stretches for 5,926 yards from the blue tees and is an excellent course for those of you who are looking for a challenge. Rolling fairways lined with trees and greens with well-placed bunkers await the unprepared golfer.
The biggest attraction at the course is signature hole #12. This is one of the most unique holes in the Portland area. It's 184 yards from the blue tees and 180 feet down (that's almost 18 stories). If you would normally use a 4 or 5 iron for 184 yards, you better switch to an 8 or 9 on this one. Check out the hole in our photo gallery and then call for a tee time.

fun course
The greens were kept soft. Important this time of year.
This is a fun course.
The only problem the day I played was that the greens had just been sanded. However much that may bother some, it helped me by making the greens much slower - I had only ten putts on the back nine. The signature hole, #12 is amazing, and lots of fun. This course is just the right difficulty for a beginning golfer, with some challenge available for the better ones.
Unique setting with something for everyone
This course has one the best holes in the northwest. The 185 yard par 3, 12th hole is one you will never forget; or the ride down in the cart. Down 180 feet from the tee box, this hole is sounded by trees and a green that has no mercy. Putts left above the hole will see you roll off the green if not accurate. The cart ride down ziz-zags with hair pin turns that can leave you holding your breath.
The course could be kept in better condition, but overall it’s not bad. Cart paths are not smooth. Can be challenging for someone with a slice; or hard fade. Several holes that slope right, some into OB. Pace of play is not too bad; most players in carts.
Good deal for $16
Greens are a little bouncy, but course was good for the price. Thanks for the fun.
ok for the price
With the exception on hole 15 its a decent course for the money. Hole 15 is a waste of time, laid out poorly and the green is the worse green I've ever paid to play. It's a backyard joke.
Gimmicky
Cow pastures are in better condition. Bumpy, rutty. Hang on to your drinks and fillings. Waste of time and money. I wouldn't play there again even if it was free.
poor condition
the fairways were in poor condition and too many slope off to the right. very small and lightning fast greens
For the money, this course and staff will rock your socks.
11:00 am is the best time to go. Holes one through 11 are fun and very easy. 12 is different. You need to go and see. And for heaven's sake, get a cart if you're playing 18. The massive hill is not too bad, but it could end up bad if you've had too much to drink.
Mt. veiw
play, there quite often . the back can be very challanging ,#12 is one of those favorite hole s180 ft drop. # 15 is a tough par 5.
NIce track.
Always a pleasure to reacquaint myself with this course.
Pretty setting, variety of hole styles, overall nice conditions.
Hadn't played there for 6-8 years and was pleasantly surprised at condition since we had so much hot weather.
I had forgotten how mounded and undulating the greens were but they putted just fine. Slow play in front of us on the greens. They thought the Golf Channel was filming them and they were lousy golfers, but that's what you get on a holiday weekend at a public at a discounted price. We had a great time and will go back soon before it gets muddy. We had drinks and snacks on the deck and enjoyed the day even after the round.
Fun & unique qualaties make this a fun course to play
I have played a alot of public courses, around the Northwest, & this course stacks up as one of the most fun that I have played. Hole #12 is everything that is advertised, & has to be seen & played to be fully appreciated, the most unusual & chellenging hole I have ever played. Imagine a hole that the drop from tee box to green is about the same as the horizontal distance of the hole & you have a idea of what this hole offers.
Great value!
Got a great deal on Golf now. Not a super long course yet has plenty to challenge golfers of any level. Fun to play.
Hidden Gem!
I really like Mountain View.... beautiful course in generally good condition, with some challenging terrain and a few "fun" par-3 holes thrown in for good measure. Can't really say anything bad about it. Seems to be an easy walk-on as well, as it's never been busy there for me. Steepness of terrain makes a golf cart highly recommended.
Fun and Challenging Course
Great course. I always enjoy playing Mountain View. The key to this course is to stay in the fairway. With the amount of trees, you can get into trouble in a hurry that can cost you 2-3 strokes at least. Though the hardest hole on the course, #12 is by far the funnest hole.
