Great municipal course...
Nice course with some fun challenges. There are some hills to negotiate but as they say "what does up, must come down" so things even out.
Average condition
Over all the greens were in good condition.Might be a few areas were course could use some attention.Very slow play. The marshall was nice enough to let me jump over to the east side were play was alitte faster since I was playing by myself.
Cleaned Up!
I used to play Glendoveer several times a week. Since the new management company has taken over, there have been several changes for the better. I would have had a hard time paying full price to play either East or West sides. Things are looking up, however. As for the West Side, it is being worked on and is slowly improving. The fairways look nice and with the heat, they are rolling well. The greens are running pretty fast on the front nine but on the back nine they are quite a bit slower. West side is very easy. Wide open, for the most part and there aren't too many hazards to contend with besides a few well placed bunkers on a couple holes. For a cheaper rate, the Glendoveer West can be well worth it. Especially for a new player. The East Side is under Aeration on the fairways for the first time I think, ever. I am excited to play it.
better
the fairways are better now, new mowers for the greens too.
Great old course
Great old course with a lot of trees but forgiving fairways. The elevation changes are taxing at times especially for seniors (cart suggested). The spring 70 degree weather with sunshine made for a perfect day.
Wet weather course
Played on Memorial Day early in the morning and despite the amount of rain, the course held up great. There were a few holes on the back nine that had some water on the greens, but other than that, the greens were pretty fast. The fairways didn't plug and the ball rolled nicely.
Can't wait until the course is dry and the ball will really roll.
pretty expensive
I usually don't play during the day because its to expensive, but for the hot deal on GolfNow I got on for $10 during the day.
Rude, nasty staff
I used GolfNow to get an 8:22 tee time as a single. When, I arrived, they had a tournament going on that conflicted with my tee time, and it wasn't honored. I gave my ticket to the starter. At 8:55, the starter asked me, "When is your tee time again?" When I told him, he said I had missed the group I was supposed to go out with. He didn't tell me or show me or introduce me to the group, so I had no way of knowing who I was playing with. I went into the shop to get a refund. They acted like THEY were inconvenienced...no apology...no nothing. Customer satisfaction or civility is not something Glendoveer staff concerns themselves with. I will not be back.
the course was in good shape. Some of the tee boxes had been moved up for the white tees and as a result they were more like temporary tees.
Overall good condition. Some greens had debris from trees and some of the tee boxes were temporary as they have been moved up for the white tees. Overall the course was in good shape. The rain over the last few days left some wet areas on the fairways and the sand traps had alot of water in them. Good value for the money however!
Good course to challenge your placement.
The course was ok for just getting rained on. It is always a good course to play from the lazy west to the challenging East course. These courses will challenge your shot accuracy. Enjoy it and have fun.
I'm glad we didn't pay full price!
Glendoveer has always been a great course to play but the new management failed to impress us this past Sunday. The west front nine greens sprinklers are broken and the greens are parched and dry plus not recovering from aeration. The pro shop said they were hand watering but I saw no sign of it. Also, no visible repairs were being made to the system.
easy course but overpriced
Straightforward course; don't need any locals knowledge to play. I almost never see discounts for Glendeveer on Golf Now, just full price, which is pretty high for this muni compared to Heron Lakes
Had a great time,
New management is making some new changes and upgrading to course. They are working hard a making this a very goof=d course.
Poor service, bad conditions
This was my first time playing Glendoveer and it will be my last. Arrived at the course and was told they have no power carts available, was not told that when time was reserved. Greens were punched 2 weeks prior and in very poor condition, lots of divots and sandy bumps. Fairway was cut longer than average and the 2nd cut was deep and soggy.
Pro shop was rude and unconcerned with improving the experience of a 1st time visitor. No cart refreshments on the course either.
If you're used to playing nicer courses around Portland don't get your expectations up for this place.
This is a very good course.
The course was in excellent shape and well maitained. Getting the tee time thru Golf Now was easy and quick to get. The green had just been sanded so after a couple of weeks they should be excellent.
carts need upgrading
the pace was a little slow and the power carts were in need of a little attention. personal were friendly.
Nothing to write home about.
The course played very slow on a Friday morning. The old East course is better than West but still a pretty average city course.
Fun test
This was the second time for me to play here this winter. The course was dryer this time, but still very soft. The course is under new management and appear to be making plans for improvement. The course is an unusual par 73, 36-37. There is only one par three on the back nine. There are a couple of short par fours, this played from the right tees are a fun risk reward challenge. I anxious to play here this summer and play under dry conditions.
If this is new management
Driving range is basically shut down except for the ball machine and the mats. There are no teachers, no clubs to demo, nothing. The new management has completely closed down the "people" part of the range. If you need anything, a golf glove, any help, you have to hoof it back up to the pro shop. It's totally ridiculous.
Now it may just be winter, but the greens and fairways are horrible. The worst I have seen them. It appears there is no course maintenance staff working on the weekend, not one. I'm guessing this is a glimpse into the future with our beloved Metro running this course. I used to play here a lot over the past 40 years. I won't be back
You got me GOLF NOW! Hopefully for the last time...
Had a great day, winter golf in OR isn't easy but the course was in OK shape as it hadn't rained in a few days, sun was out, what more can you ask for. That's not why i'm writing this review. This review is to hopefully point out that I paid an extra $6 to register my tee time at GOLF NOW and recieved no discount on the green fees. Its my fault, i should've called the course first. Its $25 to call in a tee time, its $25 + $6 to do it via GOLF NOW...BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
