Juniper Golf
Juniper is a very good golf course. We booked for two of us at 1154 and got on early with no delays at any time. The round took under 3 1/2 hours. The course is green, the bunkers were well cared of and had plenty of sand (it was a shame we found the bunkers so often) and the greens were quick.Overall an excellent game for $20 a head.
Good experience but challenging
Good course, however challenging for those with a high handicap. Has some long holes. Overall a great setting and experience.
Terrific course and finally good weather
I got the chance to place yesterday. The pace was a bit slow but the scenery and cold beverages made the round very enjoyable.
One of my favorite courses in central Oregon
Juniper
Turf in fine condition for this time of year. Sand well maintained and very fair. Greens were slick and true with nearly healed verticut. Easily walkable. Will return asap.
Very slow round
Many circumstances during this day made for a very slow round at the end of the day. This was through no fault of the course. Until this exception, have always had good paced rounds.
A fine course with fine people.
Bit of a blustery day that turned really cold toward the end. We would have finished before the cold kicked in if not for the ridiculously slow play of a 5some that went out before us. And that 5some did nothing to speed up their play. Ive played at juniper many times and slow play has not been tolerated in the past. That group of 5 should not have been let to play as a 5 and should have been monitored for pace of play. It really turned our round of golf to a sour experience:(
Challenging, but nice
We played in mid-November, and it started out windy and rainy-brrr. We REALLY appreciated the enclosed canopy on the cart.
The whole course was firm, even in the rainy weather, and in very nice shape.
Super course and great weather
Course was in excellent condition. Greens were fast. Great value!
Awesome challenging
We played as a foursome from BC,excellent course, will definitely challenge you in a big way. Can't wait to play again next year upon our return!
Get a course marshal
We had an early afternoon tee time and were told, despite the crowded parking lot (the weather was gorgeous), that we'd have clear sailing for our round. NOT! There was a threesome in front of us -- three guys in three separate carts; what's that? -- then a twosome and then two walking foursomes who held everyone up, including groups behind us. Played first nine in 2.5 hours and then gave up on 12 when there were three groups on the tee, a group in the fairway and one on the green. Get and use a course marshal who can 1) prod slow groups to speed up; 2) take corrective action when prodding doesn't work. For a busy course the place seemed very understaffed.
Good course, greens not taken care of and slow play
Slow play. By the 3rd tee box, I called the clubhouse to let the staff know we needed a marshal to speed up play amongst the 2 foursomes in front of us. Took almost 3 hours to play the front 9 after a 3:30PM twilighlight start. The clubhouse staff took the call and, did not acknowledge there was a marshal on the course, and said he'll see what he can do. But nothing ever happened. Sometimes had to wait 10 minutes to play a shot because of the bottleneck in front of us. And the bottleneck did not occur because of a crowded course. As for the greens, they are big with a nice layout, but they clearly are not taken care of. I typically repaired 5-7 ball marks of others on each green, but could have repaired 10x that many. It would be nice to see more active course management encouraging faster play, caring of greens, and reinforcing basic rules of the game.
Cost
Loved the course but would not play it if I had to pay full price.
Recommended play
Good golf course that was in good condition. Don't miss the fairway or the lava rock will take a toll on yor clubs.
mountain side bargain!
this was the first course our group played on our trip to the Bend area. it was conveniently located just minutes from the redmond airport allowing us to play the day we arrived. my flight was delayed, so i went from sitting on an airplane to teeing off in less than 30 min!
this course did not disappoint. my expectations were lower since this course doesn't have the national awareness of course like Pronghorn or Tetherow, but wow! our whole group really enjoyed the layout. it was in great shape, and the course is beautiful.
it isn't the most challenging course, but it's not push over either. and it certainly is not just a bland 18 holes you've seen before.
i would definitely recommend this course for any trip to the Bend area!
This is a course that can challenge your short game.
Juniper offered us a challenging day of golf on a well-maintained course in a very scenic location close to both Redmond and Bend, Oregon. Pin placement made putting difficult on too many holes, but that will not keep me from playing there again next time I am in the area.
Great experience
Been playing poorly lately. Needed time to play alone so I could focus. Had my own cart...no one pushed me...only had to play though one group. 2 hours and 45 minutes for 18....course was in great shape...hot day but plenty of water on the course.
A beautiful Central Oregon golf day!
Great course
This place is and always has been great especially for the cost. Course is challenging but also allows for the not so experienced golfer to hit some good shots. Greens were very fast which didn't help me but the way greens are supposed to be. Views at this place are amazing.
time and pairing
I arrived 30 mins early as a single golfer with middle skill level (~14 hc). My plan was to move through quickly. There was no one in front to be seen. I was told I had to wait the 30 mins even though no one was out front and that I was matched with a twosome. Fine. At 3, a single showed up to the tee..still no one had gone and so we had a solid half an hour of empty fairways. The twosome was late and the club house would not let us get off the tee as a twosome..holding us back. This was frustrating when t became clear that the twosome were beginners.
