South Shore Golf Course

I don't say this lightly, but this is the worst course I have ever played in my life. I have legitimately played at pitch n putts that had more care than South Shore. To summarize:

- No grass in tee boxes

- Fairways completely non-existent

- Sand traps were rock hard with grass growing in them

- Crab grass, dead grass everywhere

It's actually a shame, because it COULD be a nice course, but seems like they stopped caring about it a long time ago (I guess there's a reason they actually had tee times).

To add final insult to injury, they have the nerve to charge $75 to play 18. If it was a $30 course MAYBE I would say you get what you pay for, but $75 is completely insulting.

The course was extremely dry with a lot of grass missing. The grill was closed with no beer cart person going around, so there was no way to get any food or drinks.

The greens on this course were challenging, but very well kept. Unfortunately that was the only part that was maintained, lots of downed trees to shoot around. Where you had a clear shot, the fairways were rock hard. The tee boxes were all sand, and uneven. And the bunkers, though well placed were also terribly hard. It is possible that the course wasn't kept well, because of COVID, but they shouldn't be charging as much as they had for the quality of course.

Course is kind of beat up, especially the tees and fairways. Was difficult to find grass to hit off of. In all fairness, the course probably gets a lot of play.

The fairways were rock hard and awful to play on. There was almost no decent grass to use and it was a disgrace. Then after finishing at 17 the manager came over and told us we had to finish and bring the carts back. He complained to us that if we didn’t “he would have to leave at 7:30” and it was only 6:30 at the time. It was still sunny outside and there was plenty of time for us to finish. His name was Michael and he was extremely rude and raised his voice several times to us and the other pair we played with. It was absolutely disgraceful and disrespectful and I will never come back here again. They would not refund us for the hole and we finally asked if we could just walk the 18th hole so that we could at least finish playing. Totally ridiculous to give us so much attitude and be so rude when it was sunny out and we would be done in a few minutes anyway. Plus we started 20 minutes after our tee time and the other pair had to wait for a cart because they didn’t have enough carts. Will never come back!! Avoid at all costs!

Good challenge. Off fairway areas need clean up. Too much debris, mostly beer cans, lying about. Fairways could be trimmed as well as tee boxes. Greens need to be rolled.

Lack of maintenance and on course amenities hurt overall rating.

Absolutely abysmal. I’m not sure if American golf still runs this course, but it is horrible as is Dyker and Latourette. COVID is not excuse, because many other courses in the area have managed to keep their courses in decent playability.

The greens were air rated and it made it impossible to put!

Also the sand traps/bunkers where in terrible shape even though i don’t spend too much time in there.

This course needs a lot of help and some money put into it for the price that we paid i would rate it a 2 or 3 out of ten.

With a little work the course could’ve been 4 stars easy

Tee boxes were weed covered. Fairways had some brown bald spots but we played lift, clean and set. Some of the greens we really nice, but some were in poor shape. People need to repaid ball marks. With COVID, they must have gotten a late start. We enjoyed the round, but it really could be spectacular if areas were addressed

This course in now the worst I have ever seen. The bunkers are all mud with weeds growing out of them. The greens have weeds growing out of them also. The fairways have large dirt patches all over on every fairway. The rough is wild with weeds everywhere. They have the nerve to charge players full rates. It is not worth $10 to play there. It's horrible!! This dump is controlled by American Golf unfortunately.

Fairways are horrible, greens as well but 1. Tee boxes are bad...course is not in good shape at all.
