Not With the Money
I have never seen a course in such bad shape. I mean crabgrass everywhere, some green aerated with sloppy sand distributed unevenly. The best however were the sand traps...no sand and weeds growing everywhere. Oh yeah the tee boxes I'd say 80 % no grass and those that had grass you guessed it crabgrass. I played here a couple if years ago and it was in much better shape. STAY CLEAR until they put some work into this course!
This course needs work.
The course was neglected for quite some time and it showed. The sand traps were like concrete. The greens were in need of care. There were trees that were down.
Decent considering Covid
Much better than LaTourette ...don’t expect much going into it and it will be a decent experience ...
Absolutely trash, don't waste your money
I have been playing here for 5 years and go to numerous outings here every year. They let covid completely destroy their course. Every green was destroyed and some even had sand poured all over them. It was 95 degrees out and they had no food or water available. They had no problem keeping their pro shop open though. I wouldn't pay $10 to play here nevermind the $50 they had the stones to charge me. Go to silver lake, they actually give a crap about their course, it's immaculate. DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE ITS IN SHAMBLES AND I WOULDN'T EVEN CALL IT A COURSE.
This course is in the absolute worst condition I’ve ever seen. Tee boxes are not leveled and are basically just hard dirt. If you hit the fairway don’t get excited you were better off hitting it in the rough 40 yards to the right. Wasps everywhere and the bunkers are cement with weeds growing out of them
Worst course ever played on
Let’s start this off by saying this is top 2 worst golf courses in New York and La Tourette is included in that top 2. Hit your ball in the fairway... you’re better off in the rough you will probably get a better lie. If I could upload the picture to this review (it won’t upload) you would think the ball landed on a construction site, not on a fairway. Hit your ball in the rough? Good luck finding it as the grass is completely overgrown, covered in branches and dead leaves. Sand traps are concrete bee traps. Once you reach the greens they are covered with divots and equivalent to putting on a bed of gravel. Very sad cause this used to be a well maintained course. If I ever play here again it’s because someone is paying me to play there. For all of this, they are charging around $70 for a tee time. Disrespectful
Trash
Worst course I ever played on. How can you charge people 75$ for playing here? You should pay people 75$
Been better.
I’ve been playing here for years. Always liked the course however the grass currently is far too long. Hit a ball in the 18th fairway and couldn’t find it.
Never coming back
First time playing here. When I paid $75/round I expected an above average course and couldn’t have been more wrong. I’ve never seen a course where the tee boxes where uneven dirt patches, sand traps (if you can call them that) so unkept there were weeds growing in them, branches and leaves everywhere on every hole, we had to call the course by the third hole because my cart wouldn’t start, there was no available drinks/snacks at the club house and half the holes were swarming with enormous wasps.
Jumanji Course - Beware!
This course is in the worst shape I've ever seen any course. Rumor is that when it was closed during COVID, there were people just hopping on and playing for free, and the greens were not cared for. Even so and if that's the case, there's no excuse for the condition that the course is in. The tee boxes and fairways are like cement, giant dirt patches everywhere. The greens are rock hard and bumpy. The bunkers are overgrown like something out of the movie Jumanji to the point where all you see is weeds and tall grass, and no sand. And to top it off, we played a 4:10 tee time, and all of a sudden at 7:40, the course attendant started driving around and booting us off and telling us that the carts needed to be in by 7:50. We were on the 17th hole and he didn't let us finish. But employees did absolutely nothing about the snail slow pace of play that caused us to be so backed up. And the nerve of this place to charge $50 on a weekday twilight. I definitely would not recommend this course to anyone right now. It needs a TON of work to get it back where it was previously, and for the prices they're charging, it is NOT worthwhile. Just a miserable round.
I've played better
Course was okay but I won't be back. Tee boxes need work, greens need to be maintained (slow and bumpy) and cart paths are barely visible. Not to mention, no drinks...I mean, not even water.
I'll be playing elsewhere but hey, it was an experience.
Awful Conditions
Tee boxes are terrible. Fairways beat up. Greens are overgrown. This place has seen better days.
Play at your own risk
The worst thing about my round was finding no one wearing a mask. No employees wearing one. No golfers wearing one. The cart I got was not cleaned. The starter did not have a mask on and had everyone sign for their cart with the same pencil. I’ve played other courses in the area, LaTourette, Dyker, and both of those courses were practicing appropriate COVID-19 hygiene. Come on South Shore, wake up and start enforcing the COVID rules.

South Shore has always been notorious for that chasing you away towards the evening when you have a cart out.
