Greens And tee boxes
Greens are burned up rough bumpy tee boxes have crab grass fair ways some not cut but for what we payed was worth it
Arrowhead
Some of the greens where chewed up - had to move ball to get a clear putt.
Tough year for golf course
With all the rain and some bad luck Arrowhead facing thought times. Hopefully the old gal will make a comeback.
Worst fairway and tee box ever
Great condition in Putting Greens but that is all. Tee boxes and Fairways are all covered by crab grass 60%, mud 30%, weeds 5%, and others. This course is not even worth for $5 and I'll nervergo back there even for Free. They'd better to shut down the course and change it into corn filed....
Crab Grass Galore
This was the worst shape I have ever seen this course. They clearly aren't maintaining it.
Crab grass on tee boxes and the fairways were all crab grass. It was terrible.
Should change the name of the course to crabgrass hills. I never saw this much crabgrass on any course I’ve played. Tee boxes not any different than rest of so called fairway. Tee boxes not mowed and some not level. Cost of round not worth the experience. Too many much nicer courses not that much farther away.
Don't waste your time
Horrible horrible horrible. That's the only way to describe the condition of this course. Don't waste a beautiful day at this place as it has been badly neglected. I played here years ago and it was one of the nicest in SE Pennsylvania, but not anymore. The greens are burned out and the worst I've ever played. The fairways are almost completely crabgrass and in need of maintenance, and the rough is shin deep in most places. Dissapointment doesn't adequately describe the feeling you get playing here. So much potential, but so poorly maintained.
Horrible condition
When you show up at noon on a Sunday and only 3 other cars are in the lot I knew something was wrong. The course looks like it doesn't have a groundskeeper. Over grow grass in fairway on some holes. Greens were so bumpy and patchy. Just poor maintenance all over. Left after 7 holes
Big improvement
I continue to enjoy playing at Arrowhead. It's continues to be improvement on and off the course.
Love the attendees. From the folks at the counter to the folks working on the course itself.
Slow play and grass clippings everywhere
I played the first six holes in an hour and then played the next 9 holes in 2 1/2 hours before quitting. There was a dreadfully slow threesome of men playing and at least four groups behind them including mine decided to just give up and head to the clubhouse as there was no way to reasonably finish the round.
A Ranger to maintain pace of play would have been helpful. Also with the number of long grass clippings laying around, balls in the rough and even sometimes on the fairways were hard to find. It is a moce layout but the maintenance of the course and controls on slow play need to be improved
Conditions are Not Good, but Layout is Entertaining
I've been going to Arrowhead for countless years now. The conditions are never good, in fact if you are looking for even fair conditions, don't come here. Only come to Arrowhead if you are looking for a challenge with the layout. It's an old style course that has me coming back every time.
Awesome people working in the clubhouse.
They are really friendly and helpful.
Course is getting better care.
Cart path
I think they should let u know when it’s cart path only. Or give you the option to play or not
FALL ROUND
Always enjoy playing Arrowhead, an interesting layout with back to back par 5's to start your round. Course was in good condition overall for this time of year. The only negative is the significant amount of leaves on the ground everywhere causing major challenges finding your ball and making the round play a bit longer. Just bring plenty of balls and plan to drop and play on or you'll spend a lot of time looking for your ball even in fairways. Still a good time especially for the time of year!
A bit of history
Arrowhead is often missed by people; it’s hidden away off the main highway (Rt 422), and it’s not very well-publicized.
I’ve been playing it for over twenty years, and nothing about it has changed. It appears that the original course was laid out almost 100 years ago, but then, about fifty years ago, nine new holes were added to that portion of the course which is across the street from the clubhouse, making it a 27- hole facility. There is a small lake to hit over on hole 8 which makes it one of the best holes. The age of the course shows itself in some short and somewhat awkward holes. If you can play the original holes behind the clubhouse, you’ll get an experience of what early golf in America was like!
There are many hills, but they tend to run perpendicular to the direction of play, so you’ll have more up- and down-hill lies than side-hill. The greens are slow but they run true, and they don’t have a lot of slope.
The pro shop bears mention because they make great quick lunches, cheeseburgers, etc., at very reasonable prices.
All in all, a very enjoyable and low-key experience!
Nov golf in Pa.
Good bang for your buck. It's a quiet, peaceful course with no houses or condos to hit. Conditions are typical of public courses this time of year. Fun, some challenging holes, some hills, some tree lined fairways...good place to just play golf and enjoy the outdoors.
