Boone Golf Club

About
Boone Golf Club is one of the area's most popular public courses. It was designed by Ellis Maples, the architect of many of the South's finest courses. Utilizing the dramatic Hill Country landscape, the course is as scenic as it is challenging. From the elevated tees you'll get a view of the surrounding mountains and the winding streams that meander through the golf course. The wide fairways are bordered by colorful wildflowers and the greens have subtle but tricky undulations. The par-5 sixth is one of the most memorable holes on the course. The green is the most challenging element of this hole, not only is it steeply pitched there is also water guarding the front. Boone Golf Club is a challenging but fair layout that golfers of all skill levels enjoy playing.

Slow But Beautiful Day!
Our first time at the course, staff was friendly but the scenery was the star today. Thank goodness it was nice to look at because we had a lot of time just to admire it. I believe the starter didn’t space us well and we ended up behind 2 foursomes that were hitting the ball everywhere but where they needed to. We finally called the clubhouse on #12 when we got 3
Groups deep waiting. Greens were absolutely laser fast and holes were perched at some is the most difficult spots I’ve ever seen. It’s a beautiful course, and we will return. Just need to be more on top of pace of play and staggering groups!
Great Course
Played here for my second time and it impressed even more so than the first time. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in great shape. The course challenges you but is playable for all skill levels. Got paired up with three other older gentlemen and we all had varying skill levels but ended up having a great time with everyone having a couple memorable holes. Starter and the pro shop staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend everyone that has a chance to come play this course.
Challenging layout
The course was still wet from three days of heavy rain, which put all grasses longer than usual in the fairways, rough and greens. Greens held the approach shot well but were very slow, although rolling true. Streams came into play on most holes, making shot placement critical.
Great value and course is nice and holes have great variety.
Highly recommend. I am a 7 handicap and has plenty of challenge with large rolling greens. Would recommend for anyone looking to get out and play a fast round with nice Mountain View’s.
Fun, convenient, value
This course is convenient, well-maintained, has beautiful scenery all around; a good layout, and in great condition for this time of year (early fall). The staff are very cordial and accommodating, friendly, and efficient.
This was our first time to play anywhere in the area, and we’re very pleased with the whole experience. It was also recommended highly by a local we met, a member of the local private club, after we had made a teee time reservation, but before we played. It was good validation of that recommendation.
Tough on the Greens
Nice layout, but some of the greens were impossible to get close and if you had to putt downhill, you'd be lucky to stay on the green. Hole placements were unreal for a midweek day.
Nice course but fairways looked like they had not been cut in awhile. They were more like a first cut. Maybe the previous week’s rains had something to do with that.
Beautiful Day in Mountains
Always enjoy coming up to play Boone. Course has gotten a bit pricey but still enjoy playing. Course was in good shape, greens were very fast and some of the pin placements were very penal. Someone was upset that morning. Main problem as always is slow play. Took 4:40 to finish with no help from a ranger.
Always a good choice!
Another enjoyable round at BGC. The course is always well groomed and the greens fun, although a bit tricky!
Fun worth playing
Fair course with difficult, fast, fair greens.
I always enjoy my round here. All in all a good spot.
Great course, pace of play not so much
Beautiful course, challenging greens, good value. Don’t book late in the day or on a tight schedule because you’ll be skipping entire holes and multiple groups that play at a 5 hour pace just to finish in time. Hopefully we just got a rare and unlucky tee time.
Best public course nearby
Boone is a pretty course. I haven't played it as much this year as in the psst because the prices have soared and it is hard to get a deal online. But it stays full so apparently many are able and willing to pay the price.
