About
There are two 18-hole courses available at the Hickory Valley Golf Club, the Presidential and the Ambassador. The Presidential is the flagship course and it is also the longer and tougher of the two. The layout incorporates nine of the club's original 27 holes. The Presidential is nearly 300 yards longer than its sister course at 6,721 yards from the championship tees. The golf course has a nice balance of player-friendly features and challenging hazards. The wide fairways are quite forgiving, while the large, undulating greens are framed with bunkers. The signature hole is the par-4 second, which gently doglegs right, requiring a long and accurate tee shot. You're not out of trouble yet though, you'll still have to face the heavily bunkered green that also has a pond to the right.

Last round of the Year
This course never disappoints. It our last round of 2021, the weather was cold and damp, but except for standing water in the fairways, the course was in great condition and the greens rolled moderate but true. The grounds crew did a great job clearing all the leaves from the course. Looking forward to our next 50 degree winter day to get out again.
Challenging but not too hard
This is a fun course with the right amount of obstacles and hazards. Switching to electric carts would eliminate the unpleasant exhaust fumes and help the golfers enjoy the natural setting more.

Wind, rain and a cold front
We were the only twosome on the course that teed off after 12pm. We had to hide among the pine trees to fend off the driving rain for quite awhile BUT the then the sun came out and we decided to finish. Hopefully we'll play "The Presidential" next year in drier conditions.

Course was in rough shape but the worst part was pace. There was a foursome that wouldn’t let anyone play through and no marshals to monitor. At least 2 other groups gave up and turned around or skipped holes
Shame, Ambassador is a tough course
Great potential - poor condition
Overgrown trees, Ida flood damage, highly variable greens made this a really tough course to play.
Great course and great price!

Unlucky Bad Weather
The only truly bad thing was my swing and the wetness of the course. The pace of play was excellent - finished in 3 hours with cart path only. The conditions were extremely wet due to a good amount of rain - no fault of the course. The best thing about the experience was the starter, he did a great job welcoming us to the course and it was our first time. He went out of his way multiple times on an early morning tee time which was really appreciated.
