Landis Creek Golf Club
About
Just a short drive from King of Prussia, Landis Creek Golf Club (previously known as Limerick Golf Club) is situated right along the border of Chester County and Berks County. Opened in 1965, the course has a traditional layout that is player friendly enough for all skill levels. In 2012, the golf course changed ownership and also underwent a major renovation. The greens were reconditioned and the irrigation system improved, which has elevated the conditions of the course. The layout is a classic links design that is mostly open though there are a few mature trees that call for accuracy. Strategically placed bunkers provide challenges throughout but you won't find much water on this golf course, though there are two lakes that come into play occasionally. Landis Creek Golf Club has some tricky holes but overall it's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence.

A well designed course.
This is my second time playing Limerick and I had a good time. We played the day after some heavy downpour so course conditions were as good as they could have been. A big pet peeve I have is getting ready to load up the cart and seeing that every cart seat has a puddle of water that needs to be cleaned off. Otherwise, this course was a good challenge that allowed me to use all clubs in my bag. I look forward to playing Limerick again.
Unchallenging, poorly conditioned, no pro shop, no range, lousy practice putting green, etc.
This course is easy, poorly conditioned and has no pro shop. You pay your greens fees at the bar. There is no merchandise offered for sale. There is no driving range and the putting green has one hole in it and is in poor shape. The greens are slow as molasses and there are bare spots all over the course.
This course was extremely boring and poorly kept.
I've never had to write a negative review for a golf course. I've played some pretty awful courses before, and have never really been to bothered by the conditions. At the courses I played that were less than stellar, there was at least a slight attempt to keep the course manicured nicely. I played Limerick for the first time on Thursday and I will never go back. First, there were simply no fairways on all but 5 or 6 holes. There was no distinguishable lines between fairway and rough. The course was just long and straight, and extremely boring. The greens were what killed the experience. I've played courses where the fairways are less than spectacular, but I've never been bothered by that fact. As long as I'm golfing, I'm having fun. But this course was so poorly kept, I was miserable. The greens were COVERED in geese feces. Every single hole was unplayable due to the amount of geese feces on the greens. I would have understood if it was just a few holes here and there, but literally every single green was covered. I was not about to pick up goose feces just so I could putt. On top of the geese feces, there was sticks and leaves everywhere. I don't know if they just don't have a groundskeeping crew or what, but this was literally the absolute worst excuse for a golf course I have ever laid eyes on. I've never been disappointed in a round of golf, but this was a first time for me.
A Value Course
Limerick has a nice front 9, and then not so much on the back. Holes 11-15 are tight and in between housing, most are boggy (wet) conditions, and a few of them are unfair (i.e. 11 where your tee shot needs to pass a tree located in the fairway and then land in a 20x20 yard area to have any real approach shot. Still, the course is mostly playable, and for the right price (i.e. under $15) it makes for a decent value oriented round of golf.
An average course that is reasonably priced
Overall, a decent course for the money. I find the back nine more interesting than the front, which is fairly flat and open. 10, 11 and 12 are fun and fairly challenging holes. No pro shop to speak of, so if you need anything other than mediocre balls or tees, you're pretty much out of luck.
Not bad for the $$$
Have played this course now 5 times since October 2012. Golfnow.com deal of the day is usually around $13-$18 and includes cart. Can't go wrong value wise. My only gripes are that some of the tee boxes have more dirt than grass. Also, I can't believe how many balls I lost on some of the FAIRWAYS; fallen tree leaves everywhere. Played Raven's Claw up the road last week and they were out the whole time blowing the leaves off the course...no lost balls (at least on the fairway!)
Solid course for the price.
This a solid course for the price. It is usually in good shape and it never seems to be over crowded.
Enjoyable
There are many ways to play at this course with a discount, so this makes a good beginner course. I recently had a chance to take the first tee time on a Thursday morning at the crack of dawn (yeah, dew on the greens and carts, no ball marks, fresh tee boxes, lawnmowers everywhere, smell of cut grass, and of course no waiting), so I had a chance to play this course at its best, and it was quite enjoyable.
The greens were in good shape, the fairways were mostly okay, and some tee boxes needed attention. The front 9 is open and straight forward - a nice way to warm up. The back 9 is where it gets really interesting.
Hole 10 is a very long par 3 where you cross a pond and land on a small green. Hole 11 is a short but sharp dogleg left that requires very accurate shot making. Hole 12 has a deceiving shot off the tee and it's actually longer than it looks. Holes 14, 15, and 16 are the best holes in my mind.
Good golfers should be able to score well here and beginner golfers can hone their skills here without feeling punished.
Decent
The course was kept in decent condition. Tee boxes were a little beat up. Greens were nice though. Pace of play was slow and this was due to the fact there was no starter you just paid and went to wait and tee off. There were two twosomes in front of us that didn't play with each other which slowed the whole process down. I would golf there again.
course is a sleeper back nine are challenging
first time play this course. front nine open little hazards.back nine total different, dogleggs nice par 3's deceiving. played the back nine a second time. food afterwards was second to none. service very friendly. also the greens were in great shape along with the tee boxes.very easy to drive around cart paths on almost every hole.
cow pasture would be nicer
A dump. Not mowed, ridiculous rough, it's hard to call the fairways overgrown and sparse at the same time but yeah, they were. Greens too hairy. Bare teeboxes. The pro shop is the end of the bar in the grill area.
I do not recommend this course. Play turtle creek next door.
Fun and Relaxed Place to Spend a Saturday Afternoon
The course is not in the greatest of shape, nor is the clubhouse but the people are all very friendly and with the price I received on Golfnow it certainly couldn't be beat for the money.
Worth a ride and a look.
Easy course, well kept greens.
Tee boxes are in disrepair, and terrible flow. Very open course that plays forgiving
Good & Bad
The new owners at Limerick are trying very hard to improve the course.
The greens are spectacular as their conditions are probably the best around. They are truly in amazing shape.
The course however, has suffered from (lately) from lack of rain in August and the fairways and tee boxes are now in bad shape. But to be fair, most of the courses in this area have suffered also. But this is why I don't recommend playing Limerick NOW. But do play it in the spring and early summer.
BEFORE the drought, Limerick was in very good shape. The rough is kept a little longer than normal to make it a little tougher. They now have pin placements which helps pin hunting.
The course itself is fairly short and pretty easy. Next year I'm sure the course will be in amazing shape. You should try to play it jsut to experience the greens.
