Linfield National Golf Club
About
Linfield National Golf Club is a public course that is one of the area's best values. Formerly known as Sycamore Ridge, the course changed ownership in addition to its name. Since those two major changes, the course boasts better conditions and a renovated clubhouse. The layout has a classic links design that incorporates traditional elements including water, trees, and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The up-and-down of the golf course is one of the most challenging elements of the layout. The course is tight with a few adjacent fairways but this configuration also allows for a bit of extra room for recovery shots. Some of the holes at Linfield National Golf Club are quite narrow but it is still possible to hit the green in regulation. Though the course is only 6,164 yards, the rolling terrain will make it seem much longer.

Love the layout!
First time playing Linfield. The course was in great condition. It's clear that the staff works hard to manicure such a beautiful course. The greens were just aerated so they were a little bumpy. Each hole gives players options and makes them think. It's much more fun/challenging than your typical driver-wedge-putt down a 350yrd straight hole with no traps or hazards. I will definitely return in a few weeks once the greens settle. A+ Value. Highly Recommend.
Very enjoyable day on the links. Course was in good condition for mid April, interesting layout and nice pace of play. Will be back.
Friendly course
Have been golfing there for a long time
Love the course love the staff.
Great course
The course was in really good shape for this time of year, I was very impressed.
Beautiful course but tight
We played this course as a threesome on a day in the middle of February when it was in the 70s. So we knew they were going to be a ton of people out playing that day. The course has some really nice holes and challenging features. The only downside is that tee boxes and greens as well as fairways are way too close together. Almost got hit with a golf ball every 10 minutes. People were scattered in each other's fairways all day. There are quite a few greens that are within 20 to 25 yards of the Teebox. We had many Errant shots come our way. There are several challenging holes and the greens rolled extremely well for February. Everybody staff wise was cooperative and friendly. Especially the bartender after our round she was an absolute sweetheart. Highly recommend playing it but you have to be very vigilant of other golfers around you
Great to get out in late December
It was great to get out in late Dec. The course was in good condition. It was cart path only and a couple of drives plugged but it was great to get out in late Dec.
A foursome let me go ahead of them on 1 and I did the round in about 3 deliberate hours. Lining up putts taking a practice swing. Only one gentleman objected to me waiting for the green clear on a short par 4 so I let him go ahead. He shancked one off to the right drove his cart all over the course and disappeared. Awesome
Fall Golf
This is a great course. The holes are close around 5 & 10 and one of the players in y group was hit by an errant ball. The fairways and greens were in great shape for this time of the year even with all the leaves on the ground.
Excellent
Absolutely great place to play and relax after the round at the bar. Friendly people
Poorly maintained
I've played this course in past years and never had a problem with course conditions. The tee box, fairways and greens are in terrible shape. Looks like they are trying to regrow the grass. Tee boxes have uncut grass the length of the rough or they are just dirt. Hard to find even a clump of grass in many of the fairways. Greens have big areas of dead grass.
compact
This is a compact course with some tight fairways but the overall yardage of it makes it playable. You can get into trouble if you aren't hitting it straight however. There is a good diversity of holes and hilly terrain makes it interesting. However, there are some holes that you could get confused from the tee on how to play them. Be careful of the par 5 12th and 17th holes. It also features golf simulators to practice indoors or to play famous golf courses and that is open year round.

Fairways were concrete
The greens were in GREAT shape but the fairways were so hard that it was difficult not running off the fairways. The course layout was a little too narrow for as nestle within other holes as it is. I probably will not play here again.
Hi u000007194714,
We thank you for taking the time to leave a review about our course. We are disappointed to learn about your dissatisfaction with the course conditions. We are working to improve and hope you will give us another chance in the near future.

Course it beat up
Fairways were aerated and were mostly dirt. Tee boxes had more sand than the bunkers. Course was a great value a year ago now it is in the worst shape of any area course.
Hi amwasc,

Great for the Average Golfer
LNGC is a great little course for the golfer who wants a decent challenge but also doesn't want to be hitting 4-irons and hybrids for the 2nd shot... There are lots of par-4s where if you hit a good Tee Shot (not necessarily a driver), you will have a high-iron shot to the green. In this day of 6900-yard championship courses, this little place is actually refreshing. It tests your accuracy off the tee, without demanding so much distance. And then it tests your short game with lots of 80-120 yard approach shots. And for the most part, the greens will hold'em if you can hit'em!
Conditions right now are influenced by the weather - it's been a dry summer so the rough is dry and some tees/fairways/greens are compromised... but it's to be expected. We had a nice day regardless, and are looking forward to coming back here again soon as there's some rain to get the place growing again.
tomlockpa,
Thank you for the 4-Star review! We are glad you can appreciate the challenge the course has to offer. We look forward to your next visit soon!

My Favorite Local Course
I love to play this course. Sure, the weather plays a significant roll on all courses and you have to realize that. With the extremely hot/dry summer, everything green has suffered on every course not just here.
With that in mind, owner & head PGA pro Robert Kleckner does a fantastic job at making your experience here a great time any time.
The pro shop and bar area is also top notch. And indoor golf simulators are available with several bays for playing the most famous courses in perfect conditions.
What else can I say...Take a ride to Linfield and enjoy the day!

Interesting Layout
First time to Linfield and I was impressed walking up to the clubhouse. Nice proshop and Bar area with indoor simulator area. The staff was extremely nice.
There was a slight back up to tee off, but once we got going it moved average for public golf on a Saturday.
The course did have some burnt out areas, but overall to be expected in late August . Greens were decent but collars were really rough.
The shining star of Linfield is the Layout. There aren't any duplicate holes, no back and forth designs. Some of the holes on the back were very interesting and made you really think about you shot. Probably one of my favorite layouts in the area.
If they cleaned up the edges on the conditions, I would gladly pay more, but i think its priced accordingly now.
Ockenhos,

ok for the money
Played this course because other course i had a tee time at was aireating their course. Had played here about 6 yrs ago and course was in better condition. Lot of rough spots on the fairways. Greens had just been aireated the week before, so they were not in optimal condition. Tee boxes were in really bad shape. Long drive for me to play- 1 1/2 hrs.- don't think I"ll make it back any time soon.
meatbag74,

It's a shame.
This course has a very fun layout with a good mix of par 4's and 5's. The par 3's are fun too. However, over the past few months the course conditions have rendered it unplayable. Greens are burned out in some areas and uncut. On several holes the green was like a carpet which made putting impossible. The fairways in many areas are hair dirt or weeds and the tee boxes are terrible.
Pace of play is fine since nobody is there due to course conditions. Staff is ok. The only one that is very nice is Bob the starter.
Skip this course until the fix it up. Take your $40 and put it toward a round somewhere else. There are many places close by that are better.
dorysater,
We are sorry to see you did not have as great of a round as expected this time around. The course is doing its best considering weather conditions that have also affected other courses in the area. We are glad you thought the layout was fun, and we hope you give the course another shot soon.

Dogtrack
I've played Linfield in the past and always thought it was a better than average daily fee course. Booked for what I thought was a great rate, however when I booked it failed to mention that they had just aerated. So green is miserable condition and not just from aeration, bald spots, ridiculously long/hairy greens, fairways is such poor condition you couldn't tell the difference between fairway and rough. I wont be back
carusoem,
Please be sure to check any tee time notes on the confirmation page before booking an irregular (lower) rate, and there you will find aerification notices. We hope you give us another shot, so we may exceed your expectations for next time.
