Linfield National Golf Club
About
Linfield National Golf Club is a public course that is one of the area's best values. Formerly known as Sycamore Ridge, the course changed ownership in addition to its name. Since those two major changes, the course boasts better conditions and a renovated clubhouse. The layout has a classic links design that incorporates traditional elements including water, trees, and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The up-and-down of the golf course is one of the most challenging elements of the layout. The course is tight with a few adjacent fairways but this configuration also allows for a bit of extra room for recovery shots. Some of the holes at Linfield National Golf Club are quite narrow but it is still possible to hit the green in regulation. Though the course is only 6,164 yards, the rolling terrain will make it seem much longer.

my review
played linfield on 2-22-16, despite being wintertime the course was in great shape with a great layout, heard from friends it was nice and was not disappointed, will be going bac
great value, surprisingly good mid February course conditions.
First time we've played Linfield. Nice track, great mid winter course conditions. Would definitely recommend this course to friends.
Lynnehogarth,
Thank you for the nice comments. We are disappointed to see you felt it was a 3-star type of day, but we appreciate that you would recommend our course!
Best,
Linfield National Management
Well worth the trip.
For the beginning of January the course was in beautiful condition. The temperature was hovering around 40 degrees and the greens felt more like dining room tables with the cold. The course warmed up on the back nine and did not disappoint. The staff on the other hand looked like they had wished they were still in bed and not at the course. Thank God I didn't come for conversation and ambience in the dining room. The course however did not disappoint.
kjowles22,
Thank you very much for the kind review! We think the course is in great shape as well and we appreciate that you agree! See you again soon!?

No matter what you hear it hasn't changed!
I booked a tee time off of Golf Now for 25 dollars. When I was checking in the man behind the counter told me it was 35 no matter what Golf Now says. I told him I don't care what your rate is, I booked it under the agreement it would be 25. And after five minutes of arguing, he let me go for 25. Besides that I was never really a big fan of the golf course. The holes are nice and the course is in pretty decent shape. Green were rolling very nice. But there is no room whatsoever. ALL Holes are way too close to each other. Before we even teed off on the first hole, all four people on the 10th yelled fore, because every one of the drives came within 20 yards of hitting us. That was one of MANY times I had to duck run behind a tree or just cover up so I didn't get hit with a wayward shot. If you don't mind being in a battlefield, play this course you'll enjoy it!
Totally agree with your comments. I have a group of up to 5 guys I golf with a couple times a week. Needless to say we provide golf courses in the area with plenty of business. I thought this place catered to people who are there to golf. Not the case. Can I go out on a limb here to say that 90% of the US population that works has hours from 9 to 5. That means if I want to golf after a long day I would be playing at 530 if I'm lucky. Don't ever tell me there is no nine hole rate, do not argue that golf now prices don't count, do not tell me it's full price to play a second 18 when I paid full price for the first, do not tell me there is and I quote directly, "governors tax" and that is why I need to charge you more, do not pout when I come in at 530 to play golf after I worked all day. Lost my business for life and I lobby it to the golfers I know. To hear some of the same scenarios from others is not surprising since they have zero business sense or ethics. Get the young girl back at the register that has better things to do than pinch pennies and haggle customers. I will say it seems to be the older employees that work there that want to cause problems and are trying to ruin the reputation of the golf course. I can go anywhere to golf and I will not choose linfield. Too bad.
Ken6614917,
Thanks for the review. We have looked into this and we apologize that your experience with us was not of a higher caliber. Everyday, we strive to have our employees act as professionally as possible. We hope you can come out another time and we are sure your experience will be better.

Course signage is poor.
The first and tenth holes are poorly marked. I Noticed the driveway was under construction. The sign at the front entrance said driveway closed ,which probably turns customers away or at the least causes confusion. This is a great course . In my opinion I think it needs a little more management care and concern. Bathroom is small and had not been cleaned in quite some time as told by the wet urinal and floor..and full trash can and no towels....
Variety of holes
Course was in decent condition for this time of year; however, some bunkers were holding water. Staff was friendly as usual.
Watch out for this course...
This was the third time playing Linfield and have to say the conditions were great for play. If you haven't
played here before, I would suggest view it for yourself. One issue...watch out for other golfers playing , as holes are tight to each other. But on the positive, views throughout the course are beautiful and the course is a delight to play.
Going back downhill.
I've always enjoyed this layout and I thought the new owners were trying to improve the conditions. Unfortunately, the conditions have gotten worse. The staff is friendly and the hot dogs are great, but the course is sub-par. The greens were in decent shape but the fairways were an absolute mess with plenty of bare spots. By comparison, Bella Vista is a four-star course, this is nowhere near Bella Vista.
This course is good for beginners
Me and my 11yr old son had a great time. Course was in good condition and faster green.
Nice course unfortunately not able to finish due to rain
We were able to play the first 12 holes but due to rain had to stop. We drove past the remaining holes that look to be quite challenging. I look forward to playing the entire course again soon.
Great value, scenic.
Enjoyed playing this course. Would recommend, great pace of play.
Terrific afternoon of golf
Course was challenging but not impossible for me. I have seen some really run down courses in late August and September but not Linfield. Way to keep it groomed.
never playing here again
I had to give it one star because it won't let me select zero stars for my review. This is the last time I'm playing Linfield. I like the course itself, and at one point last year the course looked like it was turning around - iit was in great shape, and they even had a golf GPS in each cart.
Fast forward to this year. We played it in the spring, and then show up and the greens had recently been aerated. No mention of this on golfnow (come on, use the "recently aerated" icon!). Fine. GPS totally gone from the carts. Bummer, but whatever, it happens.
Then I saw some decent reviews from July saying the course was in good shape. ok, fine, maybe they are doing better now. we give it another shot. Show up again, and this time not only are the greens recently aerated, but the fairways as well. Plugs all over the fairways. not only that, but there was a high school golf match that teed off from the back nine in the middle of our round, so after we played a 90 minute front nine (we were a twosome) we had to wait on every hole on the back and ended up playing an almost 3 hour back nine. I understand that this happens but there was NO warning or heads up given to us by the pro shop about any of the aeration or the large group of high school kids, you'd think that if someone was going to book a round at that time you'd warn them of these things. Poor course management, poor pro shop management, literally the only good thing about this course was the hot dog at the turn.
Good luck. Linfield.
First Time at Linfield National
Interesting layout...lots of holes with doglegs so driver isn't always the best option, even on par 5 holes. The greens were being aerated during my round so putting was a challenge.
The course is in poor shape
The course was in poor shape. The were working on the greens and digging on many fairways. Course was borderline unplayable. It was like putting on a beach with speed bumps. They also overbooked the course with 2 high school matches. Brutal experience.
Great Course
First Time Here. Excellent area and beautiful course overall. Grounds were just aerated 2 days ago, so there was a lot of sand on the greens, but it still a good time. Definitely a nice course to enjoy a good round of golf.
Course is in Decent Shape
Just aerated a fee of the teeboxes on the back 9 but other than that course was in decent shape. Greens were probably the best ive ever seen here, maybe a bit slower than some other courses in Philly suburbs but rolled true from 1 throigh 18.
Nice course, not long. Friendly staff!
Nice course, not long. Friendly staff! Worth the drive from city!
Poorly marked
I have never played a course more poorly marked. Without a device to tell you how far you are from the pin or your target expect a really dificult 18 holes. You will be standing on a sprikler head labled. 140 and be completely parallel with a bird house and white line on the car path, very frustrating. Greens are pretty slow but half decent. 3 times while standing on a green a vall would already be or land from another hole...the holes are cramped... Short course with some neat holes but too many straight fwd par 3 under 140 yards. Good course for hackers looking for a cheap round. Best thing linfield offers is a indoor driving facilty with montiors showing you trajectorys, swing peed, spin, etc...
Kevin,
We are so glad to see you enjoyed your day at Linfield National. We love the layout as well and appreciate that you agree! See you next time. Ps: are you ready for warm summer weather? We are!
