Linfield National Golf Club
About
Linfield National Golf Club is a public course that is one of the area's best values. Formerly known as Sycamore Ridge, the course changed ownership in addition to its name. Since those two major changes, the course boasts better conditions and a renovated clubhouse. The layout has a classic links design that incorporates traditional elements including water, trees, and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The up-and-down of the golf course is one of the most challenging elements of the layout. The course is tight with a few adjacent fairways but this configuration also allows for a bit of extra room for recovery shots. Some of the holes at Linfield National Golf Club are quite narrow but it is still possible to hit the green in regulation. Though the course is only 6,164 yards, the rolling terrain will make it seem much longer.

Great Value
We had beautiful weather on the day we went to Linfield so I'm more biased due to that. The course isn't extremely long, but almost every hole is a dog leg if it's not a Par 3. It makes for some more planning of your shots. The tee boxes are fairly close to the greens which can be interesting at times on other approach shots, but no one was hit. You run into that with amateur golfers everywhere though. The greens were very fast when we went, and challenging to boot. The overall condition was very good though, I would definitely go again.
Great layout, awesome conditions
The course is in great shape so far this year. They made some changes to the layout and added a few traps to make it even more challenging, but still it's a relatively short track in my opinion.
Perhaps that's the one thing I like most about this place... It's a great course to walk and you get a much better feel for your game if you're able to do that. On a nice spring day, you'll get lots of sun and fresh air as the steam from the cooling towers always blows away from the course ;).
Highly recommended.
NOTE: Joshua Ryan, a 10 year old from Norristown, plays this course frequently. He finished 3rd place in the Augusta National first Drive, Chip and Putt Championship on April 6th. He's primed to be a PGA Tour sensation from this area.
MR.
This course is much improved since the last time I played it. The new owner is fixing everything about the course. Some holes are tight but the better players won't have trouble. #12 was made intoa very good hole. Good job Kleck
this course had alot of doglegs i like to hit my driver but this course most holes does not require the driver too many 90 degree doglegs
Not a bad course if you don't like to use your driver
enjoyable
Our foursome thought course was going to be easy, because of the 6,200 yards, but we all used every club in our bags, as placement, and strategy came into play. I teed off with a 4 iron on a par 4 hole. As a 10 handicapper, you could shoot a 78 one time, and a 86 the next time. Great course, and wonderful hospitality.
course in really nice shape
I have played this course several times and enjoyed each one of them, you have to see the course really nice shape .
Fast
I love coming here. We never are slow Always less than 4 hrs.
Great Midweek round
Course is in good shape, a lot of rain caused some extra water hazards. Pace of play was great, club house was well stocked with beer and hotdogs.
Good Early Spring Play
Course has a mixture of fair and challenging holes. Has an abundance of elevation changes especially on the back nine.
Tight and Turn-y
Pretty tight (narrow) and turn-y (doglegs, twists). Decent track, but a bit too quirky for my taste.
Short, only 6,300+ from blue tips. When I played, the blue and white tees were the same and were up.
Greens, tees and fairways in good shape.
Great value for the $15.90 I paid.
Good Course
Played this course in early October. It was in good condition. The only issue would be the tee boxes were a little rough. I would recommend the course.
A course you will use most of your clubs.
I find this course challenges you to use your whole bag. Also the different lies you will experience is a good test. Fun course that make you use your head. If you don't it could be a long day.
Good layout.
Course was ok. Not the best around but definately not the worst. Course could use a little more attention. Some holes had some horrible smells as there is a sewage plant next to the course. Good course for high handicappers as the course was a little challenging but not to demanding. Had fun. In the end that all that matters.
Very poor conditions
The course was in terrible shape. The front 9 was closed so we were to play the back 9 twice. The back 9 had 2 holes closed although we were allowed to chip onto the greens of those 2. This course used to be in great shape but I have not played it in about 2 years. Something has sure gone wrong there. The only good thing was because there were so few people on it even for 9 open holes I played 18 holes in less than 3 hours. Also the tee boxes fairways and greens that were open were in poor shape. Will be a long time before I go back there again.
Not as good of a course as I remembered
I played this course three years ago or so and I was very pleased with the conditions. Although I don't like how close a number of the holes are, it was still a pretty good course. Now, I feel that the fairways, greens and tee boxes all need help!
Course in bad shape
Linfield could be a very nice course, but is in need of major attention. Most fairways had more brown and bare spots than grass. The tee boxes were in fair shape, and most disappointing of all, two holes were closed and both converted to par 3's of less than 100 yards. This course is ok if you get a great deal on the greens fee. Other than that, stay clear.
Hopefully a Temporary Problem
There were a few fairways that were pretty chopped up. I heard that there was a fungus eating the grass. They, unfortunately, had two holes on the back nine being completely reseeded which turned a par 5 and a par 4 into par 3s. That was fine in itself, but the staff didn't mention it before we went out to play. I like that there dealing with the problem, but they should have been upfront with the info.
Aside from that issue, I really enjoyed the course. The greens were very nice and had a good pace. The staff was friendly and made the experience very relaxing. I would recommend this course, especially once the fairways have recovered.
Challenging layout
I had to use most of the clubs in my bag, which is unusual for me on a course that is only 6100yds. Be prepared to hit some irons off of the tee into the dog legs or find yourself in trouble when you run through the fairway. Navigating the course for the first time is a bit tricky, and a GPS is recommended as there are not a lot of accurate yardage markings. Overall, a good challenge that will bring me back!
Good value for what we paid
For what we paid using GolfNow, the course was worth it. WIth 2 fairways burned out and a few others in bad shape, full price is a little much for this course. There are 2 real issues about this course otherwise this would be a really nice course. The first is the par 4, 16th that plays as a long par 3 but not knowing the course, it's very deceiving not knowing that the hole is just around the corner. Cutting those bushes back on the left would make it a much better hole. The other is the hills on the side of the fairways that are cut too high. Guaranteed to lose a few golf balls for no reason.
Course in poor shape.
Not a good time to play Linfield National as the course is in poor condition.
