Great course for the money
Greens could use a little work but very playable. Fairways in good shape. All in all a good value for the cost. Staff very helpful.
5 somes
We played behind a 5some, and saw others as well.
I think they overbooked the course.
Decent layout but frustrating to play
Offering 27 holes and a decent layout, I had high expectations based on the price of green fees here. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met. While it is still early in the season, the course is not in the best condition. Patchy fairways and dead grass are understandable based on the time of year, but the bunkers were devoid of the sand necessary to play a shot effectively. What made our round unforgivable however were the greens. Firstly, the pin locations were more than questionable. I enjoy a well-placed difficult pin, but these were cut on ridges nearly on the fringe, leaving no place to play the ball for a chance at making a putt. Combine this with FIRM, trampoline-like greens that skipped like concrete rather than being receptive to any spin, and it was honestly a scoring nightmare.
Etowah needs some TLC
Played South side first and it was in fairly rough shape, washed out bunkers and poor fairway conditions. The North side was in much better condition.
Stop overpaying for this course
I really don't know where this course gets off thinking it's more than $20 value. The course is either muddy or concrete, no in between. The bunkers are in absolute disrepair and typically have next to no sand in them and end up being unintentional water hazards. They've got 27 holes of golf and not one of them is representative of the $40-45 they are trying to charge for a round. Save your money and go to Cummings Cove or Connesstee instead.
Meh
A little salty they let us go out right after a scramble. It took us (a twosome) over 5 hours to finish.
Horrible, player beware!!!
No way anyone could play on this course and have a decent game. Fairways were muck, greens awful, shame really cause the views & carts were awesome! Didn’t know it was cart path only until we got there and round was a hot deal so already paid for. 1st and last time we’ll play it.
Golf at Etowah Valley
Played West and North course a few hours after heavy rain. Played West nine first and the course should not have been open even with Cart path only restrictions. The nine is a flat course for the mountains and had standing puddles of water in the dead fairways. The North nine was so much better because it was hilly and green grass in the fairways having said that some of the traps were washed out. Greens on both nines rolled true and ran around a 9. I won't be back to play here when in Asheville. The attendant in the pro shop was rude and asked what did I want upon arrival at the course and I was the first golfer out at 11:10 am but when I told him I had a tee time he barked you know it's cart Path only. It was like I was there to annoy him.
Etowah
Course is in poor condition. Cart paths are falling apart, bunkers are water traps, tree limbs all over the course - had to move many to play the ball from the fairway.
As heard about
I heard a lot about this course. Finally got the opportunity to check it out for my birthday! Although it was winter time, and a bit cold, still a fun fantastic course! I can only imagine what it would look like in summer time (And I will be back to find out)! Overall, great bang for the buck. I will be back, multiple times!
3 distinctly different 9 hole layouts
This is my home course. I go between booking a hot time and walking on at regular price. Staff is always great, but they know me. They are upfront and run a good course. There are 3 nines, North, South and West. The South course is located closest to the clubhouse and features flat terrain with decent sized greens. Wide fairways give plenty of room for drawing or fading without penalizing. The South is the flattest and straightest of the 3 nine's. Holes 4 and 8 make you think about your tee shot, everything else is grip and rip. #6 is narrow, but the fairway is plenty wide enough. The West course is the closest to the driving range. #1--the hardest on the West imo--runs parallel to the driving range so a slice may be on the range. Hole 1 and 2 continue with the flat/straight pattern of the South course. After #2, every hole has some sort of elevation change. None too drastic, but there is some up and down to the course. The North is by far my favorite of the 9's. Featuring 3 par 5's, playing at 37 par, it is fun. #1 is a short uphill par 3 that is the easiest hole on this 9 imo. 2 requires you to play left off the tee, anything close to the cart path or the far right bunker brings trees into play on the second shot. #3 is a long uphill Par 5, #4, downhill and back up again on the most difficult hole of the 27 at Etowah Valley (imo). 5 and 6 are fun par 4's that play short and have a lot of elevation changes. 7 is a shorter par 5 that can most definitely be reached in 2. 8 is a downhill par 3, don't go right or your ball will plug. In the middle of a 6 month drought, it will plug! 9 is a strong finishing Par 5 with a pond running along the right side of the fairway. Overall, a great layout. My favorite by far.
Awesome experience
Was headed to Asheville for a weekend trip with some friends and figured why not go a day early and play some golf on the way. Found this course and said let’s try it out. Couldn’t have been more pleased with how everything went. Course is great, didn’t have to wait much, the staff was great, the amenities are nice. Go out, play some music, and enjoy it!
