Great value, and a great fun course to play!
This course has many beautiful holes. The greens roll great and are very challenging. One of my favorite upstate courses.
Course was good shape, bunkers were being re-worked, new greens look great.
Enjoyed playing The Links, looks like they are getting the course in good shape, would suggest giving it a try.
nice course
very good vaule really enjoyed until turn lot of people must have started on the back still enjoyable
The course has potential
The course has a good layout but needs some work. The bunkers are horrible. The greens are in good condition for being relatively new.
A little fuzzy
Course in great shape as usual. Only gripe i had was the greens were fuzzy, but its the time of year they dont cut as short. Made the putts very slow compared to last times i played there. Great value for the price.
This course is fun to play
Over all pretty good course. Just put down new Greens a couple of months ago, but there coming in well. The worst part are the bunkers, they need lots of sand. Nice layout of holes, very good for not so long players.
Helpful staff made the difference
We were late for our tee-time on a Sunday (bad planning combined with bad traffic). Even though they had a tournament, they were great about getting us out in a reasonable time. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the course was in good shape. Definitely a place we'll go back to .
This course has great greens
This was my first time to play @ the links it was a beautiful setting for a afternoon of golf
Course should be great about mid Oct 2013
Course has new greens which are playable but probably a month away (Oct) All the sandtraps were under repair which I think should have been noted under the course description. A nice course when the above issues are resolved, pretty forgiving except they let the rough get to US Open like conditions. Not sure why but it made play a lot slower having to look for your ball every-time it was off the fairway or around the greens. Some places it was 8 inches deep.
Beautiful new greens
Would have rated 5 stars, but bunkers were under construction and closed.
Very disappointed with this course.
I partially blame myself for getting stuck with this experience. I used the course web site to base my choice for the course rather than use Golfnow customer reviews. After a two hour drive to get here with my wife and son, we found dead greens, bunkers mostly empty or completely empty of sand, most tee boxes hadn't been mowed. There had been a great deal of rain recently but there wasn't any evidence that any attempt to improve playability had been done. We were all very disappointed for the price they charged. I learned a valuable lesson, READ CUSTOMER REVIEWS BEFORE YOU DECIDE.
terrible greens
they are going to replace the greens after the 4th, but they already killed all the grass on the greens. they also are not telling this, so when you book online you will be in store for a surprise. do not play this course foe at least a couple of months.
very nice, fun course
I played last week, and brought my wife back yesterdat to enjoy the great mountain views along with the beauty of the course.
Nice course with great views
The staff was fantastic. The course was great from tee box to fringe. The greens were a little rough but did not take away from a very enjoyable round of golf. Pace of place was very good - 4 hours for 18 holes. One thing that was interesting was that some par 4s were restricted to cart path only (not just that day but printed on score card). I will be back and will recommend to friends who are looking for some mountain golf.
off day goodness.
I played this course on a Monday evening. This review may not be indicative of a usual day. I got in on a golfnow deal for 18 with cartaround 5pm. I like to play fast and because there were no other golfers on the course I completed 18 Iin 2 hrs and 15 mins. I thought the course was in well played condition. Quite a few divots in fairways and greens were off color but rolled nice. The couse layout and scenery were both very nice.
Needs better managing.
T^his course is a great layout but in rough condition right now. Not unbearable but could be so much better. The main problem we had was we were a foursome and had to allow 6 groups behind us play through because these groups were a single 4 twosomes and then another single. We could have played in a much shorter time if we did not spend so much time waiting on these groups to go by. A lot of walkers so play was really slow.
When they have greens it will be great
This is a well designed, pretty Tom Jackson course with a lot of elevation changes. Its rates are very good (especially if you're walking, you won't find that rate on Golf Now but it's $15 weekdays, $20 weekends#. They are closing the course later this summer to completely redo all the greens and that is exactly what it needs #besides sand in the bunkers, many of them are now dirt#. When that is done, this could be a very fun course to play. Right now the greens are fast #like 14 on the stimpmeter) only because they are brown and mostly dead grass. The contours are pretty steep sometimes but would be very interesting to play with actual grass on them. Good practive facility, very friendly staff. Come back next spring and check it out.
Hot deal worth the money and travel!
Purchased a "Hot Deal" for this course, $10 for 18 and a cart!!! Heard about it from a friend so decided at that price I couldn't lose. The course had received a lot of water over the last week so it was cart path only and had some wet spots from tee to green. Overall the course was well maintained and an easy play from the whites. Next time will move to the blues for sure. Hitting 5 wood of most tee's left me with 100-125 to the green which didn't offer a ton of variety in shots. Did not hit my 4-7 irons at all, 8 iron is a 150 yd club for me and I hit it off the tee on a couple of par 3's, but not once from the fairway. Greens rolled true so that was a definite positive. Fun, short course that's worth the 45 minute drive to play. Word of advice, juniors play for free when you purchase tee times through the club. However, when using Golfnow, junior prices are $15 unless you purchase their time as well.
Very nice course. Fun and challenging.
Very friendly greeting to start in the clubhouse. And the course had a lot of rain recently but it was still in very good shape. For the money it was a great place to play, I will definitely be playing it again very soon.
and I stand by my comments. not only were the greens dead but most of the bunkers had NO sand in them. I have no problem with course trying to improve itself, but when you do not let people know the shape of the course while this is going on, that is wrong. and it does not help when people put on here that the course is in pristine shape. It is not in good shape at all.
My comments stand! My son is a very successful superintendant with the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, and, I am very familiar with the perils of golf course greens. The "dead" greens rolled quite consistently, and, obviously there is a plan and they are working it. The brown/green combo didn't affect the overall beauty of the course, nor did it affect my hacking around!
don't know what course you were playing. The greens are DEAD.
