Northwoods Golf Course
About
Northwoods Golf Club is one of the Columbia area's premier public courses. P.B. Dye, son of renowned course architect Pete Dye, designed the layout, incorporating some of his father's signature features. The golf course is player friendly enough to appeal to any skill level but there are some challenges in store as well. Mature trees line most of the fairways and there are a few strategically placed bunkers that come into play. You won't come across much water on this golf course and it's not terribly long either. It's gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. The golf course's signature hole is the par-4 14th, which features the famous Dye railroad ties bordering a lake that hugs the bunkered green. Northwoods G.C. also offers a practice facility with a lighted driving range and putting green.

Nice local course
This course has made many improvements over the last few years. Most are great improvements. They need a few more to get this course to the 5 stars it can be. The two areas that need immediate improvements are the drainage, bunkers, and cart paths. I know it’s a process in getting courses improved and they have done a great job with cutting down trees and getting the tee boxes and greens in great conditions. The drainage is a real problem here though. If we get any rain the course stays wet for days. This needs to be improved for sure. Great layout and fun to play.
Good course, great value
This was my first time on the course and had a great time playing it. Very reasonable rates for playing the course or using the driving range. The fairways are open enough where you feel good about pulling out your driver and not worry so much about recovering from an errant shot . The greens are FAST and at this time of year they have some grass on them but it's very thin but rolls true (no bumpiness or bald spots). You can definitely work out kinks in your game playing this course.
Very Nice Course to Play At
This is a really nice course to play at. The price is good.
Good Greens — Weak Back 9
We really enjoyed the front nine layout, pace of play, and greens. However the cart path, as noted by many others, is horrible.
The back 9 wasn’t as enjoyable. It seems disconnected from the front, and not as well maintained.
I think this would be a good walking course. Greens and tees are close together.
I will play again.

Best value in Columbia
I’ll be honest when I saw the price I didn’t have high hopes it would be in the best condition, but to my surprise it might have the best greens in Columbia and to be honest most of the coarse was in great shape, the cart paths are a mess but for 30 bucks can you really complain? Nice practice area and range, cart was solid. But again the area around the greens and the greens were fantastic and me and some friends might be playing here much more often even with it being a good little drive for us out in Chapin. Just missing some cart girls!
Much improved
Best shape this course has been in in 10+ years. Much much improved. I will be playing here weekly.
