Reviews
Not worth the money.
Took over 5 hours to play a round on the wildcat course. We were backed up 3 deep on tee boxes because of one group. Won’t be back.
Raining - Call ahead to confirm if the course is open...
Had a reserved T-time for Thursday early afternoon. It rained during the morning hours and forecast called for the rain to end with clearing skies in the afternoon. Arrived at the course at noon and it was closed for the day. First time there and had to stop to do the background check and obviously was not told the course was closed. Never got any communications from the pro-shop/course to let us know it was closed. When we looked in the Pro-shop, there was someone in there watching TV but they ignored us and didn't address our presence so we just left. I did not get a credit back from GolfPass since T-time was booked. Weather ended up being nice in the afternoon and couldn't figure out why and who at the course made the executive call to close for the entire day - just odd. Ended up calling another course in the area and was able to get on last minute. Was very much looking forward to playing the course at Fort Jackson but overall it was a bad experience which was a unfortunate!
Ft Jackson
Was finally able to play 1 of the 2 courses on Ft Jackson. Unfortunately got there during an exceptionally hot period. Course was in good shape considering but the heat whipped me. Hung in there to finish the round because I was enjoying the course. Challenging but playable. Will definitely be back (when it's cooler).Appreciated the water coolers on course. My only negative was slower players not picking up their pace or letting people thru.
Also want to get back and play the Old Hickory course!
First time playing the course
Have not played much in a number of years so trying to get back into the game. My scoring was horrible but the course was nice to play and we will play it more often
A little bit of a hassle
The course was in good condition with pace being a little slow at times. Far as golfing it was very nice. I had called a couple days prior to playing since this course is physically located on a military instalation what course of actions do we need to take to get on base. The gentlemen said go to the gate and let the guard know your gonna visit the course and he may require you to get a pass or co tinie to enter. I as a veteran had very little issue but one of the gentlemen that was to meet there wasn't allowed access because he didn't have birth certificate or a couple other forms of ID he did have his license. So if your a non veteran and want to play here insure you have more than driver license cause that want get you in. I do recommend this course but there needs to be a better amount of information given about access.
Always confusing here
Starter never gives you any info on if you have other players in your group. I had played 4 holes and the maintenance crew was confused because they said the course I was on was closed. Starter never said it was. I played all 18 and other groups appeared as I pressed on. Tee boxes need work on a few holes but fairways and greens are way better than they have been. Cart paths are terrible here.
5 hour round of golf
The new starter is pairing folks up, and the club house has figured out that GolfNow bookings do exist, but allowing walk-ons when the tee sheet is full creates a recipe for a 5 hour round of golf. There were 4-6 carts on each hole as far as my eyes could see. Making progress, but not there yet.
Much better!
There was another starter and different clubhouse staff this week, and a much better experience. Course is greening up nicely, and greens are looking much better than I’d thought they would just a couple weeks ago.
Great place to play but needs work especially the greens
Two 18s great courses. Needs some work on the greens especially.
Great course
For a military base this is a 5 star course. Make sure you get there early so you can get your visitor pass. The staff were very nice and helpful with any questions. For March, the greens were in great condition. Fairways are starting to come back as well. Definitely going to be playing here this summer.
What a waste
I’m a Veteran that has played Ft. Jackson for almost 20 years. The starter they have now consistently sends off singles and doubles on Saturday morning (many are walk-ups with no tee time). This is very inefficient vs. threesomes/foursomes. I can’t get a rhythm with the pace/waiting created by this insanity, and he doesn’t even try to pair anyone despite opportunities to do so. There is no food except some refrigerated pre-made sandwiches and crackers/candy…used to be a full bar and restaurant but those days are gone. Course conditions are mediocre at best. Staff does not understand that GolfNow sells a 12:03 HotDeal in addition to their internal 12:06, which has been the arrangement for well over a year. They argue with me about having a 12:03 several times a month 😂
