Gem in Darlington, SC
Can't more highly recommend playing this course if u want a fun round playing this historic, 100 year old course. They have super facilities - dining, bar, locker rooms, etc. The course's been renovated - bringing back the native sand areas, adding bunkers, and mounds. Greens are superb with roll offs, alla Donald Ross. The 15th, 16th and 18th holes are all u could ask for in strategy, challenge and beauty!!
While there I had the distinct privilege to meet the owners - Tim & Nancy Huntley, the greens superintendent - David Strickland plus Kerry and Jim. Could not have been welcomed more warmly even though I was playing just one round passing through Darlington. Must play course - run by super people!!
Best Layout In The Area
Went and played this course for the first time. Nothin but good things to say. Good pace of play, spacing between tee times was good. The layout of the courses is very nice. The course is challenging. Off-season maintenance was good, greens actually require reading which is refreshing. Will definitely play again
Play the course 2 weeks ago today's . 6/9 courses in much better shape after June rains. Greens are filling in half of them are not in good shape. 3 out of 5 . Sorry will play it again.
Darlington
Great course layout. Great value. Go play if you’re in the area.
Really need to take better care of the fairways. A few of the greens are very weedy
Greens need more attention. Not a great idea to have driving range next to the first fairway.
Very satisfying experience.
While traveling up the East Coast, I looked for a course to play my first round of the year. This course exceeded my expectations.with a very helpful pro shop attendant, cheaper price then I expected, nice hole by hole guide, interesting holes and not busy at all. Fairways didn't seem to have irrigation so they were pretty hard baked.
Traveling thru
poor value for the money. Although course was trimmed well, greens full of weeds. The lady in the clubhouse was rude and abrasive. Paid $35 each for me and my son and another $30 for two riders with us. $100 spent for $20 course. No wonder the course was empty on a Friday at 1 pm.
Greens were very good
I want to play this course again. Great course, but the cart paths need some attention.
The course is in good shape
The course is in good shape, friendly people. The greens roll true and fast nice place to play.
Great condition! Greens were cut just right and soft.
Disappointed
I expected more from a private course that recently allowed outside play. The lack of grass is beginning to give way to erosion, half of one greenside bunker had fallen into a stream. The greens were not too bad but they were slow. The fairways had barely enough grass that you could find a spot to hit from if you rolled the ball. I played on a Monday and I didn't see any maintenance being done. There are much better courses near Florence at cheaper rates.
