Great Course with historical ruins

Excellent course layout with all the undulations and in great condition for winter. The greens are also in great shape. For the money one of the nicest courses in Charleston. Seeing the early 18th century ruins on the back nine add to the Low Country experience.

Course is challenging

course was very wet when we played
cart paths only
Played with golfer who played there before who explained layout of course because there are a lot of blind shots and doglegs which made it difficult.. No fairway layout on course or score card.
Enjoyed the challenge very much and will return

Good for the money.

Price was very good for the money. The greens were very Augusta like, undulated and fast. If you miss the green in the wrong spot up and down is tough. Condition was good. Older homes around but very good traditional course. Bunkers give false sense of how much landing room there is.

Challenging, yet fair test of golf

I played here with a buddy yesterday in cold conditions and we were pretty much the only players on the course. Even though it was cart path only, we still managed to get around in 2 hours and 40 minutes. The whole course appears, and is for that matter, well-bunkered, which makes some of the tee shots look deceptively harder than they are. The landing areas are all generous. The greens were very interesting, with most having various shelves that would make for a great variety of hole locations. It is possible to score out here, but you must be hitting the ball well.

The staff was also very kind to us. Upon finding out we were from Maine, the gentleman in the shop told us that a member of the grounds crew was also from there, and eventually that fellow Mainer sought us out when we finished just to say hello. A nice touch to make two new players feel welcome. I would recommend playing this course to anyone in the area.

A must play course for every skill level.

I really love Crowfield and is probably one of the best courses to play for the value in the Charleston area. The fairways and greens are in great shape; the course is challenging, fun for all and a must play.

Best Course in the Charleston Area

I play every Sunday... we have played Wescott, Stono, Patroits Point, Muni, and Shadowmoss recently and this course blew them all away. Greens are smooth, fairways have little to no divot marks. I am a 0-2 Handicap golfer and that course plays perfectly for a 0 all the way up to a 30... you are treating yourself to play there, and not paying very much for that treat.

Awesome No-Frills Course

Crowfield is a no-frills golf club that's always in awesome condition. One of the best courses to play in the winter. The fairways are always green and in great shape. The greens are currently in the best shape I've seen in years. This course can be tame or extremely challenging depending on the tees you play. Number 18 is an extremely exciting and challenging hole that temps you to play out of your comfort zone and number 9 and 10 can be interesting depending on the pin placement. All three holes are heavily bunkered to protect the greens, but there is no greenside water to shatter your chance at par. There are several holes that will test your skill level, but the course is very fair. I would absolutely recommend this course to my family and my friends.

Not as good as it used to be

The course condition has really slipped since the city of goose creek runs it. Bunkers are horrible, rough has not been cut in forever, fairways are always hairy. Rounds on the weekends take close to 5 hours due to FIVEsomes on the course.
Still a challenging course, but could be so much better with just some effort

Course was good, no staff support.

There was no starter or anyone who rode around course. had a threesome in front of our twosome and they didnt understand pace of play. had a single (female) that we had to drive around who practiced 4 shots out of sand, 6 putts on the green and 7 shots just to get to the green (Par 4) and wouldnt let us through. Good course but individuals on course should understand the "game".

great test of your skills at a bargain price

Crowfield gets a bit lost in the bigger golf picture in greater Charleston, but I feel it is one of the better value plays in the area. It's condition is always at least as good as all its surrounding muni and semi-private comparative courses, but no where else will your game be put a true test as here. Extreme bunkering around each hole, undulating greens all with multiple places to tuck the pin away and a lay-out that has you thinking starting at the tee make it my favorite course in the area for the price.

Challenging course, well maintained for the # of rounds per day

Crowfield's greens are fast, and nearly every hole has significant contours. Shot placement into the green is very important with the large elevation differences between tiers. The course is very well kept even with the high number of golfers each day.

Whenever I visit the Goose Creek area I always stop i and see me buddy, Dennis and we head over to Crowfield. The course has never been short of fantabulous and the people are some of the nicest I've ever run into at a course. I never fail to have a fun and challenging round, They also have great hot dogs!
