Golf Club At Wescott Plantation - Black Robin Course
About
The Golf Club at Westcott Plantation may be owned by the city of North Charleston but it is far from being your typical municipal course. The 27-hole layout is divided into three nines: Black Robin, Burn Kills, and Oak Forest. They each take their name from the plantation's long history, it's one of the oldest in the area. Care was taken to preserve the centuries-old live oaks and pristine wetlands that are scattered throughout the entire course. Black Robin is the tightest of the three nines with small greens that make it the most challenging as well. Every hole is framed by lush vegetation and various streams, ponds, and wetlands come into play throughout the course. The golf course ends with a welcome chance for a birdie in case you didn't fare too well on the tougher preceding holes.

Course
I was disappointed with this course. The hot deal was $52.99 and I’ve seen courses for far less that were much better. It was very hard and dry, we lost several balls in the fairway due to the grass length and leaves, feathers, and debris that was laying about. There was no distance markers on the course and the carts don’t have the interactive screens so you’d better bring a range finder or a good app. Find a different course. Not worth the money at all.
Worst pace of play in my life
Took over three hours for nine holes. At one point seven carts were on the same hole.
Nice course!
Got a chance to play this course on July 3rd 2025. The course was in good condition despite the heat wave.
Lots of different layouts on this very wooded course. Bunkers and greens were excellent.
Would love playing it again to try their last 9 holes (this course has 27 holes)
Mixed
Great clubhouse, range was off mats and $9 for a small bucket of very mixed quality balls. Greens super bumpy and slow - worst I’ve played this year. Layout flat as pancake and all holes pretty much the same. No GPS on carts and very few yardages marked in fairways. Basic muni- ok if greens were better
Rain days prior made for tough conditions
Pace of play was affected due to cart only. Otherwise it's my favorite corse to play.
Half great / half not so
Burn Kill 9 was in great shape. Very good conditions on tee boxes unlike other courses during the past week
Black Tobin was polar opposite- with poor conditions from tee boxes to greens.
Other than the pro shop staff and the starter - all other staff were grumpy!
Will assume this to be a one off. Would give it another shot.
Nice course but….
The course needs water! The ground was rock hard; almost impossible to put a tee in the ground. Fairway grass was very thin; very tight lies everywhere.
Conditions were not good.
The condition of the course was not as good as I hoped based on reviews. The tee boxes are in very bad condition. The fairways are not much better. The greens were in pretty good shape but really firm and had some spots of crab grass. I liked the layout, just wish it was in better condition.
Can’t complain!
Fun course, lay out is nice. Played near end of march. Course is looking great considering timing. Greens are moderate speed! All around good course! If i am ever back in the area i will consider playing.
Still dormant
Very nice track, however best played mid March and beyond. They just had a lot of rain, so footing and lies weren’t consistent. Enjoyed it nonetheless. Would absolutely play again.
Westcott
First time at this course. Had to stay on cart paths, as fairways were water logged. Understandable after last week's snow storm. Greens in excellent condition. Would play course again if travel opportunity presented itself.
Poor conditions
Golf course is not in good shape. The rough is either really thick and needs to be mowed or really thin. Lots of muddy areas, Greens were okay but slow
