Wildwood Green Golf Club in northern Raleigh was designed with players of all skill levels in mind, Opened in 1986, the classic layout underwent a major renovation 10 years later that made it into a challenging but playable test that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned pros. Generous landing areas offer some room for error off of the tee and the greens are large and inviting. There are still plenty of trees and sand traps to keep the layout interesting though. Accuracy and careful pin placement are also required to handle Wildwood Green's subtle elevation changes. The golf course finishes with one of its most difficult holes. This par 4 is a slight dogleg right with Carolina pines bordering the right edge as well as a bunker to the left. The approach is an uphill, blind shot to a deep and undulated green.

Needs grass

I know they had made some good improvements however I wish they would overseed they fairways to have some grass to play off during the cold months. Also spread out the tee time’s so we don’t have to wait to play all day.

Decent course but be careful with afternoon tee times

Wildwood is a decent course but management way over booked tee times and there we no rangers on the course enforcing pace of play. We teed off 15 min late and were 30 min behind the “pace” according to the gps in the cart after 1 hole. Wildwood also squeezed in 9 hole tee times after 5 o’clock so we had to wait 15 min on a new group in front of us joining the round after the front 9. Front desk offered me a 9 hole rain check for the troubles but then we were asked to give the rain check back after returning to the 10th tee. It was apparently a “take the rain check and come back, not here’s a free 9 holes for the inconvenience. The round was $35 so it was more about the principle- we just wanted to play 18 holes. We barely finished 14 holes. Decent course but in the Raleigh area you have plenty of better options.

Prepare for a sloooow round

Weekends are split tee time reservations. Hope that you don’t have a tee time when you make the turn and now folks are in front of you.. if it’s a two hour delayed start in the morning then why isn’t it a delayed start for those later tee times? (Answer...they don’t want to lose the revenue).

Greens could be nice if people fixed their ball marks. Lots of unfilled divots in the fairways. Watch for small rocks/pebbles in the fairway where they repaired the cart paths. Oh and watch out for goose poop!

Love the course, just incredibly busy

2nd time this month. Both times paired with nice groups. But unable to finish due to the piling up of groups. Today was even slower than last time. COVID must be affecting typical winter pace of play. Love the course though. Greens are very tough. Tee lengths are excellent for my ability. Only wish there were more par 5’s.

All around bad experience

Arrived and front was closed for tournament, tournament was crowding EVERYTHING. Got checked in, hit the cart and go to tee off. Me and my buddy(2 grown men) get paired up with 14 year old walkers. 1st error from the start. These kids are playing slow and grabass the entire time. The people in front of us are walking, and pace of play was in general god awful. Got to play 9/18 that we paid for 9(it got really dark at 6, teed off at 3). When if it was me and my buddy alone as we planned could have played through and almost at least gotten through 18 and been happy. Staff in the clubhouse was super friendly but when complaint was brought up it was "oh dang that sucks". Definitely a pretty course and challenging but won't see a dime from me again.

Great greens

The greens are in great condition and they are definitely using the golf boom to upgrade the course, including new cart paths which is temporarily affecting playing conditions but should pay off in the long run. Fun track to play, have to use all your sticks to make it around.

Under construction

Found the cart paths closed due to construction of new cart path. Did not know this was happening at time of booking. Several par 4/5 holes were set up as par 3, one hole closed.

Fantastic Course!!!

I've played this course a number of times this year and every time it gets better and better! I love the layout of it, playing "positional" golf (not using driver on every hole), course was in fantastic shape and greens were like carpet. Couple of wet, mushy spots but certainly nothing to complain about. Tough to get a last minute tee time here because of it's popularity and the beautiful weather. Almost always play with a member who have been all wonderful people to meet and play with! Can't wait to go back!
