About
Shannon Greens Golf Club (formerly known as Clarendon Golf & Country Club) in Santee incorporates three different lakes, Lake Santee, Lake Marion, and Lake Moultrie. Santee is one of the East Coast's premier golfing destinations and Shannon Greens still manages to stand out among the area's great courses. The golf course sprawls across gently rolling hills studded with towering California pines. It is definitely a shot-maker's course that will require the use of all the clubs in your bag. There are challenges in store, but it is a fairly open layout that is much more forgiving than it seems though golfers will have to contend with a lot of water. The course offers some great scoring opportunities, making it easier for beginners to approach with confidence. Shannon Greens Golf Club's 16th hole is one of the most memorable and scenic holes thanks to its island green.

Nice
Good course staff was nice
Lots of water
It is early in the golf season but this course was in good shape. Some of the "cart paths" were not clearly marked however overall I had a great time. Very challenging holes interspersed with some gimmies. The par threes were all shortened because of weather/drainage conditions. Although a lot of grass was still in dormant stage there was green grass in most areas. Scorecards were very poor quality. When I go back, and I will cause it was a fun course, I will invest in a yardage book.
Grounds need lots of work still
Staff was amazing and very accommodating. Course conditions play very much like a beginner course but layout is more intermediate. Parts of fairways are like playing a freshly cut backyard with a normal mower. i.e. thick and lots of crab grass. Some bunkers need repair and clean up as well. Multiple greens are still under repair. Tee boxes are surprisingly in the nicest condition relative to the rest of the course.
Awesome course
The course was in wonderful shape and I really enjoyed my round of golf I will definitely be back and recommend it to any golfer the staff was awesome and very friendly
This Course needs to be taken off of GolfNow
Paid almost $40/person to play this cow pasture. Worst course i’ve ever played. This is just straight up facts, not trying to discourage anybody from going to play a round. I was very disappointed when i arrived at the putting/chipping green. Half of it was dead, the other half was somewhat okay to practice on. This course has a very nice layout but is in poor shape. The only good i got out of this were the greens. And they were in okay shape. But so far in my life, i’d have to say that this ranks last in all the courses. I’m not dinging the owner or staff but it needs some TLC. Especially when you have folks from out of town that expect some what of a good course to play on. However it was a beautiful day to play, just wish i wouldn’t have got overcharged.
Welp, maybe check around
Sad to say, this course seems to be on its last legs. The tee boxes are crap, the fairways are crap, the greens are crap. The cart path is crap too. I imagine once upon a time this was a good course. Now looks like it's broke or whoever keeps the grounds doesn't have a clue. Desk guy was cool and friendly but I probably won't be playing here again.
Nice layout but not worth the drive
The course has potential with a nice layout but you can tell it just doesn't have the money to maintain it properly. Dry bare weedy fairways, very hard greens and beat up bare tees. The range was absolutely horrible. Not sure how you can charge someone for range balls when using that range. There was no grass and you had to find weeds to hit from. And then it is really short so no wood warm up. Good parts were. It wasn't busy, nice layout, forgiving and challenging, greens rolled well, staff is friendly.
Noone home
Arrived at 745, from Charleston. The hours posted were 730 to 530. I was the only car in the parking lot, aside from a few golf carts. Went to clubhouse and the dead bolt was on the door. Noone there. Stayed until 800 still locked up, Noone there. I did see a gentleman bring a cart out when I drove up but he disappeared and I never saw him again. I arrived early to hit some practice balls and have something to eat before going out. When there was noone there by 800 I left and drove back to Charleston. Trying to seek refund from Golfnow or the club, no luck so far, via emails
Good course
Best value around for a rural course. Staff is great. Recommend
for anyone.
