Waterford
Nice layout. Greens could be in better shape.
Great course
Staff was friendly. Course was in great condition. Food and beer was good
Fun day
I was in town for a couple days and had enough time to play a round so I looked for places near me on Golf Now. After reading the reviews , I decided on Waterford. I was greeted with a smile and some fun small talk Driving range and putting green happened to be closed , but those facilities looked nice (didn’t appear to be a permanent closure). They paired me with a very nice local regular who gave me course knowledge. I will never judge a golf course on the condition of the cart paths so I will move on. Some if the tee boxes need some attention, but it did not affect my play. Fairways and greens were great. And lastly, the bar had a great choice of beverages and food. I took advantage of one of the many very cold draft beers. Served to me by a very fun bartender. I recommend the course and I will definitely be back when I’m in town.
Worth It
Waterford is one of those course that you just enjoy. Challenging enough to make one debate which club to choose off the tee. The approach depends on pin placement. I have spent hundreds of dollars on places like Old Sycamore, and Sycamore’s greens are like putting on flat turds. Very similar to coming home after a round of golf and your wife going, “I need more food for door dash,” and she’s 5’3 184 pounds (lowball). The greatest part is the value. I really do enjoy Waterford’s layout. Looking forward to true Spring Conditions. Also, I hope whoever runs Old Sycamore is told that those yuppies and boomers ruin the air we breathe. Can’t wait to hear how bad they are doing over there.
Great Greens
This was my second time playing Waterford. It had rained lots the day before so the course was very soggy. Not much they can do about that. Greens were in excellent condition, especially for this time of year. Rolled very true, not a single bad spot on any of them. Fun course for sure that I would recommend trying out.
March 8th
The course was completely saturated due to rain. Therefore, it required A LOT of walking since it was carts on path. You cant control pace of play under those conditions.
Great Course
I have a short window to play, Easy schedule, friendly staff, Course regulars were super nice as well
Enjoyable Golf Course
As an older Golfer, I like this course because you really can’t get into a lot of trouble.
There are some creek crossings but not too much water comes into play. Not many fairway bunkers and not many around the greens. The fairways are wide open, it’s well maintained and a great value overall. The greens are well maintained and they change the pin placements regularly.
It’s always well staffed and the onsite food is good and features lots of options.
good and challenging course
I have played waterford a few times over the years, and I just recently got back into golf so I am playing here again. The greens are really good, but don't let the practice putting green fool you. They aren't all that fast ;) The sand is soft.
The course offers some challenging shots, and there are usually a few pin positions which make things interesting. This course probably has the best greens around York County. Some of the easy shots end up with small'ish greens that can make them seem easier than they are.
The carts are starting to see some wear, but I believe there is new management that is starting to clean up some things from years past.
Overall the course is very nice, friendly staff, and the rangers will help you out if you get stuck behind the super senior quad group.
I look forward to playing here again.
Not senior friendly
It's been 10+ years since I last played Waterford and found improvements to the layout. I was surprised at the number of cart path-only holes due to wetness. What brings their score down is the length made it tough on four seniors. Adding some forward tee boxes between the whites and reds would make the course more playable and enjoyable.
Good condition, mostly dry, speedy greens
Finally, a dry course, greens were good and speedy, but a little fuzzy. I have not played here in years but will be back. Front side cart paths repaired, back 9 is still needed.
Green's!
The course was soggy but the green's were phenomenal
December at Waterford
It was a great day despite it being CPO due to recent rain. The gentleman in the pro shop was wonderful. The greens are in great shape they have already started to put money into the course repairing cart paths. This is a great course but big changes are afoot.Highly recommend.
