Course layout
Course is set up for you to work the ball and keep the ball in play.
Good Time with Friends on rainy day
Course continues to get better with new owners.
Best greens I've played this year
Greens are fast and true layout great , price top's !!!!!
A starter at the first tee would have saved a lot of time for the afternoon tee time start with the limited amount of sun, this course has been improved so much since I last played it , the only negative are the cart paths
Staff/confirmation
Staff had a negative attitude of Golf Now,also could not find confirmation, lucky I had mine. But beside that a good golf day.
Waterford Golf Club
This was my first time playing Waterford Golf Club and the last of the former Carolina Trail courses that I have played. Waterford is interesting in several ways. First, you have to travel through a industrial park to get to it, which was a first for me. The parking lot and clubhouse are understated, but the staff was very friendly. There is a practice green directly beside the clubhouse and a driving range a couple hundred yards away. The carts were clean and fairly new looking.
This course was designed by Hale Irwin and opened 19 years ago. It features bermuda fairways and miniverde greens. Many of the holes feature blind landing areas where you cannot see your tee shot land. Course knowledge would definitely benefit one in navigating their way around this course. There are also many subtle doglegs, be it from the tee shot to the approach or from the lay up to the approach on par 5's. All of the bunkers were well maintained with bright white sand.
The course is not easy from tee to green by any means, but the real challenge is once you get on the greens. Most of them had pretty severe slopes and it seemed that just about every hole was cut into the side of one of these slopes. That combined with the speed of the greens (FAST!) made putting quite an adventure.
Overall it was a good course that was in good shape. It was a great value for what I paid to play it on this particular day, and I will be back at some point to play it again.
Fall Golf
Greens were in good shape
It had rained hard the night before so we played back nine first this did not detract from the round .We all agreed it was a v enjoyable day and good value.
Nice round, beautiful view
Course in great shape. Played at our pace. beautiful late afternoon views - see pictures. Rough nicely mowed, but difficult to play out.
Course playing well
The wife and I played on Labor Day, and under 3 1/2 hours! (Very woman-friendly here). Course overall in very good condition although some 'roughs' were very rough and we lost a couple of balls just off the fairway, but we found over a dozen of others' balls.
And must reiterate on the cart paths!! Brutal in many areas!! Build some low wooden bridges over the worse ones.
Cart paths
The course, greens/fairways were in the greatest of shape. No problems or complaints there. The Cart paths were broken and very rough. This needs immediate attention ..the course is fully aware of the cart path conditions and I believe or been told that is the next major project for the course.. Great course and will returning many more times. We even saw two deer on the course.
Much improved!!
Played this course several times this year and before this last time I would not recommend it, but the course has rounded into great shape. Greens were particularly smooth when a couple of months ago they were in rough shape.
Waterford gold
The course was not in the best shape and they had painted the greens. To much cut grass laying around and it was easy to lose your ball even in the middle of the fairway.
Please do something about the cart paths!! I thought I lost a kidney going over some of potholes !!!
Other then that I have played there many times and will again!!
Fun, well maintained tract
I booked this course on golfnow for $40 at 8:04 Sunday morning. I was paired with a local guy, very nice and fun to play with. We finished in under four hours, only playing through one foursome. If I had to find a flaw, the tee boxes were not maintained as meticulously as the rest of the course, but the greens more than made up for that. They were a little slow with the morning dew, but rolled beautifully as they dried out. Also, having local course knowledge is key for scoring as many tee shots are either tight or totally blind. Overall, this tract is a steal for $40.
Course has a old course tree line layout
Course was in real good shape.l recommend it. Cartpaths only negative, pretty rough
Great Progress!
Have been playing Waterford for the better part of 10 years and had another great experience this past weekend. Played an early morning time to beat the heat and was pleasantly surprised to find that they hadn't paired us with anyone.
Course conditions are average to above-average for the area. Greens were a tad slow but rolled true. Fairways showed some effects from heat but it wasn't widespread. Tee boxes could use a little bit of work, but they aren't bad.
Rolled through 18 as a two-some in just over 3.5 hours. We'll be returning soon!
Beautiful course
Would definately recommend this course! Great shape and no waiting
Waterford
Nice layout. Greens could be in better shape.
Disappointed on this day
The rate was $44 at 1:33 and the greens have been punched recently so that was disappointing. It was 95° out and there was no beverage cart because the cart had broken down - poor customer service and the water coolers looked nasty. I like the course but this was not a great day at Waterford
Could be better
The staff was friendly, the hot dog was fine,. The cart path had a lot of potholes and broken places. Most of the tee boxes were quite bare, and a few of the greens were in pretty bad shape. The whole course looked like it needed some rain. I do like the layout, and a couple of holes are very challenging. All in all, not a bad value for the money, but I won't be playing again anytime soon.
good layout
tee's not in the best shape, cart paths in bad need of repair, several washout areas need filled in.
Waterford Golf
Great value for the money . Will play again hopefully soon.
Course does need a little tlc. Cart paths need some repair. Most greens in good shape. Slow play, need a ranger.
