Golfer Reviews
not overly crowded
My son and I played on a Friday, and there was a bit of breathing room between foursomes, making the pace comfortable and unpressured.
Saturday round with my son
I consider this course my home course. My son and I use the practice tee, chipping green, and putting green once or twice a week. We wanted to play a round together on Saturday. We thought maybe the course would partner us up but it did not. In fact, there were several pairs playing and they allowed 3 singles scattered in between us with book end foursomes. Although the course Marshall was nice he did nothing to speed up the round. We eventually skipped two holes and played 16 holes in a little under 4 and a half hours. It would have ended up being almost 6 hours which is not right even on a slow day. I would normally give this course a 4.5 rating but today it gets a 3. Next time I’ll stick to an earlier tee time, if I can get one?
Horrible condition for the price, cool layout thought
If you dirt fairways and patchy rough look no further. I love the the layout of this course but man they need a new grounds crew. Never sead use reclaimed water just equals patchy and weed like grass. Greens look nice but roll like shaggy carpet
Love the layout.
I always enjoy playing here. Challenging layout. This was my first time playing the blue tees, much harder. They had recently punched the greens, and with the warm weather we had, they got pretty slow late in the day. It happens. With warmer weather on the way, this will be in great shape in a month.
Great Day.
Good course
Nice course, kept in good shape. Under 4 hour round, pleasant experience!
Very poor course condition
I have played many public courses but thuis is at the bottom of the list. Golf should be played from grass but that is not the case at this course. You get bare lies even if you hit the fairway.
It is a great layout but this course needs a lot of work. The greens are decent but if you miss the green hitting from a bare lie good luck getting it up and down.
Good not great
Really need to get a marshal on the course. A lot of jerks out there that don’t have a clue about golf etiquette.

Great test of golf only Criticism was the tee boxes need some work
Staff all Great and the food is fabulous
No-Sand Sand Traps and Dormant Fairways
Decent course when there is sand in the sand traps and the fairways are green. Blue markers are closer to average course length. Black Markers are a real challenge. Greens are decent. I would NOT pay more than $40 until they fix sand traps.
Nice people, rough golf course.
This used to be a nice course before the drought conditions almost killed it. They have managed to save the greens which are nice considering the conditions of the fairways. They are all dead and I mean irreparably dead, not even a sprig of green after the recent rains dead., it’s very sad. However the weekend play was very heavy and VERY slow. Apparently the poor golfers in Bakersfield are so desperate for golf they are willing to wait on every shot, all day and play a course with burned up fairways. I’m not so I quit after 10 when the 11th hole had 3 groups waiting on the tee with no Marshall in sight. I’m glad I got a deal on Golf Now because I would have been unhappy if I had to pay full price.
Unsettling
I golf here alot and it seems to be going in a bad direction as for the course conditions. I understand weather issues and player abuse to the fairways and greens but it is really getting bad for the price you pay for this course. I like going here because it is within a half mile from my house, but I have fou d myself going out of my way not to go here mainly due to conditions and they are still the only course that still doesn't have sand bunker rakes. Back to my point you can goto most of the other municipal courses and pay half the price and have better golf conditions even Buena Vista. Maybe if they make people on the course use etiquette while playing....... like dont drive on the greens or use 90 degrees on the fairways or cart path only when it rains like most other courses do it would get better. Who knows.
