Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

great option for downcountry golfing

we enjoyed the challenging course and fast pace of play

to us (vacation golfers) this course required careful positioning to avoid hazards protecting fairways and greens

so since scoring wasn't our primary goal, we enjoyed shot opportunities using most all of the club in our bags to work through the round

appreciated that the greens were nicely maintained and rolled straight

sand traps could use some use (softer conditions) but overall the course was in very good condition

cart paths need some attention but are FAR FAR better than other moderately priced golf courses in the hhi/bluffton area

would DEFINITELY return to play here again - and again...

It’s turned the corner

I did a review on Crescent point several years ago and frankly stopped playing it despite it being one of my favorite courses in Hilton Head. But having read the most recent reviews, I decided to give it another try. And it’s exceptionally better! The course is in great shape! The only remaining issue (from my perspective) are the cart paths. But I’ll gladly put up with those for the great conditions of the course! Give it a try! You won’t be disappointed.

Vacation

Course played well. Beautiful. Was warned about water but luckily my ball stayed in play. The only complaint was we had a 4 some in front of us that was 35 minutes behind pace and never offered for us to play ahead.

Reservation for 2

I reserved this course for 2 players. Golf now gave me 2 reservations for 2 players each so charged me for 4. I cannot find anyone to contact about a refund. The course cancelled the duplicate, but golfnow said it was too late for an automatic refund. Otherwise the golf was wonderful

Nice course

I enjoyed the course and I had a good round. There are some moist areas in the fairways therefore you’re not getting any roll. The greens were ok. I wished the traps were raked instead of hard pack sand. Overall a good course for the money.

Car path only and too high semi rough

The course was really wet. Loosing balls 2 feet from the fairway is not funny.

Course Conditions

We played this course as we are on vacation and seen it was an arnold palmer public course. The first couple holes were in great shape and we were excited but then the rest of the course especially the greens was in mediocre shape. We are from new york and have played far cheaper courses without a big name attached and have had better greens. The saving grace was that the gentlemen in the clubhouse were the nicest people ever!

Teed off early (7:30) just my brother and I. Played 18 holes in 3 hours. Just the way we like it. Nice course. Quite a bit of trouble if you aren't hitting it. Pretty hot while we were there. Still had a good time.

Good Layout, Poor Conditions

This course has a great layout and staff was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, the golf course is in poor shape, which is what really matters. Lots of dead spots on fringes and greens are unplayable. Multiple good iron shots rolled off backs of greens. Greens were not puttable and very bouncy. Cart paths will have you losing teeth. Bunkers were not great and some had standing water after multiple days of 97 plus degrees and sun. It is a pass for me go forward. Best thing was I got hot deal rate for $39.
