Will not play again!
The worse thing about this course was the staff. They were very rude in the clubhouse and on the course. I spent more time trying to navigate the course because the holes were not marked. Course is very outdated and I thought my cart was going to breakdown several times. $15 is the correct amount to play the course but not worth the drive from Charlotte.
Good time at Spring Lake CC
Myself and a friend played 18 holes at Spring Lake CC on 2/28. The weather was much better than was forecasted. We had a great time.
Great lay out.
The course was a great value. Worth the drive from Fort Mill. The greens were a bit long, but I adjusted. It seemed well kept. Great sand in the bunkers. Pro shop guy was very friendly. It could have been marked better but I referred to the course layout map that was on the cart and I listened to the guy in the pro shop and had no trouble making it around.
Lost in the 80's
No directions from hole to hole. Even the other twosome we were paired with didnt know where to go. Tees, fairways and bunkers were fair to play on (even going offraoding ----no cart path in places- was ok) HOWEVER the 70's and 80's called and want their greens back!!! There was no way to hit a putt with out the ball jumping and moving off track even the cups were raised up to push the balls away.
Spring Lake CC
The course had a good mixture of long and short holes. I used every club in the bag, especially the sand wedge! Lots of bunkers all over the course. It was a fun round. I played with two lady members and a fellow who had played there several times. They were all three very helpful telling me what to expect. I will tell my friends about this course. The greens were in good shape but were very slow. It's a fun course.
No markings
No markings for which hole was which and cart trails inter twined on many occasions. We we're suppose to play 18 but could not find all the holes in a timely manner so we gave up.
Very enjoyable time
I can't argue much for price and much rather play there then deal with the rude ppl at tega kay
Not worth the ride
Not worth the ride to get there from Charlotte. Fairways are weeds and rocks. Rough was cut weeks ago. Greens were ok. Course needs lots of work to be average.
Bad service
My group was not treated friendly at this course by the staff and the condition of the course was not up to standards I don't think I will book this course again"
Old course still fun
My pre-buy price online was only $15 with cart. That makes it kind of difficult to complain. It's an old course so the fairways are lumpy with thin or bare spots. That clay under it is a problem. Hitting from the rough is almost better because there is more grass to work with. Most holes, especially on the back, are wide open.
The grass surrounding the greens is good, giving golfers a fair shot on chips. Bunkers are in good shape. Greens were recently aerated yet still managed to roll pretty true.
I will probably play it again for a discount rate even with the 40 minute drive from Charlotte.
A Relaxing Morning at Spring Lake
Thoroughly enjoyed my round at Spring Lake. Greens in good shape, Fairways are greening nicely. The course has many challenging holes and requires planning your shots, not just going for distance. Plenty of changes in elevations and water. There are also long par 5s where grip it and rip it can be applied.
Fore warned...
The course is really good for practice, but the condition of the greens will not help your putting. Good course for the "cheap" price.
This is a practice course only
Would not play this course again. Although the lay out was great there was no fairways just mowed fields and the greens were very bumpy no true roll of your golf ball. Every body was very friendly though.
Bad conditions
Fairway, green are terrible. Not worth the money. Fairway grass are full of weed. Green are bumpy and not smooth at all.
no way it's worth regular price:. But if you get a coupon from golf now or something like that it's worth the money to go practice I gu very slow and
no way it's worth full price. If you can get a coupon is worth that just to go practice. Greens were hard and bumpy? A few years ago this was a decent course don't know what happened.
Overall the worst place I have played!
First of all the course was in very bad condition. It was like playing in a cow pasture!. The staff was very rude. They told us three times we were playing too slow and even made us skip three holes on the back nine and come back and play them at the end. We could have played faster if the had yard makers and signs that told you where the next hole was because some of the next hole locations was a little confusing because of the course layout. I would definetly discourge anyone from ever playing at this course.
I think the course gives the average golfer eventful challenges.A helpful addition would be to put up yardage markers !
For off season and the weather changes, I felt the course played very well. We picked a day after a tremendous rain and course was a little soggy but
in pretty good shape. Always enjoy playing the course !
Horrible Condition
Course conditions were horrible. Barely any grass in fairways especially the back nine. Course is not taken care of and it shows. I even called and asked about the condition because I have played the course before. I was told they were okay. Far beyond ok.
Good Place to Play
We went out here to check out a new place we haven't been to. It was a good course. The greens were well taken care of and the fairways were as good as anywhere else for the time of year. Will definitely play here again.
