Spring Lake
I will typically play here on fridays because its close to home and normally not too busy. I truly wish this course was in better shape than it is because it has great potential if some money was sunk into it. But in all honesty the course conditions are horrible. Seems like little to no effort is put into giving the course the basics of what it needs. Tee boxes are hard as a rock or bare in some cases and greens are dry most of the time and look dead. No definitive fairway just shorter grass than the rest of the hayfield you're hitting into. There are much better deals around the area for what they are asking for 18 holes.
DO NOT PLAY
Fairways overrun with weeds, bunkers are mud pits, greens were in terrible condition! I paid $25 for 18 and this was high for the condition of this course. Hands down the worst course I've ever played. I will end this review on a good note though. I actually like the guys in the "club house" good ol boys.
Most unfriendly experience in a clubhouse
Did not understand how to help a handicap golfer, rude! Complained about our hot deal price being too low? Did not know we were coming. Won't be back. No information about hole at tee box area, could go on.
after the storm
the course was dry so we able to ride most holes
spring lake
This was a great course the staff is awesome and the course is nice
Nice Challeninng course.
It was the first time I had played here so it was tough. The greens were in good shape for this time of year and they were small and easy to roll off, you had to place the shot well. I enjoyed it and will play there again. The back 9 had some long par 4's but it was open and you could make them with good straight play. You had to hit the ball straight there.
Spring Lakes
Enjoyed the round. Pro Shop staff was very friendly.
Some holes need to be redesigned
Good middle of the road course with tremendous potential because of the property, water and elevation changes. It could be very good to great with some changes to several holes.
Not in good condition
The fairway grass was non-existent. The tee boxes were bare and too hard to put in a tee in very far. The greens were the only thing decent here. Not a place I will play again
For the price you can not beat it. Hard teebox? You pay less than 35 and that's what your going to get
Rough day?
I've played this course a number of times, but this waa my first time scheduling my round through golfnow.com. It seemed like as soon as the people in the clubhouse realized that I was the golfnow tee time, that they were going to treat me and my playing partner like garbage. The other times I played, they weren't the friendliest, but at least respectful. However, this time they were just plain rude. The course needs some updating for sure. Fairways are almost nonexisten. One of the reasons we play here is that the greens are fairly well taken care of and that they are usually not very busy, so you don't have the golfers pushing you that want to finish their round in record time. Will play there again, but understand what treatment I'm going to receive if I have a discounted rate.
Played this course for years
Ok...people that are blasting this place on your reviews need to get a clue. You're not paying a boat load of money to play this place. You're getting what you pay for...and in all honesty I've paid way more for course way worse. This a great place to play and improve your game. Staff isn't the friendliest but who cares. The only thing I can really say on the down side is...it's very sad to play this place knowing how awesome it use to be.
One Time Course
The price was more than fair but we will not go back. The course was poorly marked - no hole numbers. At one time, I am sure this was a good course, but it needs some work.
bad faiways and greens
Fairways and greens have been in a terrible shape. I do not recommend playing here.
Glad I had a discounted price
Paid $17 and that's what it was worth. Greens were terrible and course had not been watered in weeks. Every shot raised a cloud of dust. Will not play it again this year, thats for sure!
Worth it
Only been playing this course for 9 months. Had heard it wasn't a fun play. Couldn't be any more wrong. Staff is very welcoming & accommodating. Always tell you about conditions for the day. Overall the course is in nice shape. Great value, especially if booked online. And it's out in the country so not a lot of development nearby. Oh yeah. Hot dogs at the turn are terrific!
Disappointing - Don't waste your time
This course is in disrepair. The fairways and greens were the worst I have played on in 20 years. The course has no hole marking or directionals. No putting green or chipping area. The range is ok. This course needs serious capital investment. To call this course a "country club" is an insult to those used to playing those types of courses. First and last time for sure!!
I agree with the course needing more yardage markers. But there is a putting & a chipping area as well as a sand practice area. Played this week & course looks & plays much better than when you played. And consider the value of this course. You could pay twice as much & not enjoy it any more.
