Old, Very Old
The clubhouse is ancient and the downstairs smells like someone died. The fairways are very nice and the course plays fair until the greens. There isn’t a single partially level green in the course. You would think it was a mountainous area when you reach the green.
Waste of time
My girlfriend and I played and I won’t ever do that again. First off it was my girlfriend’s first time playing so I made a later in the day tee time. If someone caught as we would let them play thought. On the 10th hole a older man comes up on his cart and says they have a tournament starting and we would have to play faster. If I’d of known about a tournament we would of played somewhere else. Who starts a tournament in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday? Fairways was like hitting off concrete. Tee box’s where very uneven and in bad shape.
You get what you pay for
If you want a course to just beat the ball around and are ok with taking an automatic two putt on the green, this is the course for you. It’s cheap and has a nice layout and the pro shop staff are nice; the grounds keeping staff need a refresher on etiquette as far as taking a break when teeing off/playing a shot when they’re close by though. The greens are in horrible shape.
If you’re a decent golfer and get frustrated by the course conditions, then steer of this place. I’m a 20+ handicapper and have a good day when I shoot under 100, so this wasn’t a horrible deal for the price; I shot 88 taking a two putt once I got on the greens.
Cool practice course. Not worth the price
Too expensive given the quality of greens/fairways being very spotty/not well maintained.
Go somewhere else
First and last time. Besides the horrible smell of the ancient furniture, moldy carpet, and sewage in the clubhouse, the course along with the driving range were in poor shape. I was also surprised to find that on a 90°+ day, the course did not have water coolers on the course. There was also no drink carts circulating. Seems very cheap and an avoidable risk for this business. Only paid $35 for the round, but that seems like $30 more than I should have.
Needs upgrades
1st time playing, new to area, clubhouse needs to be demolished- old and musky, course layout is great and for a country course it is long with very undulating greens but could need a click up on the speed but the greens were in the best condition of all, some elevation changes - par 3s are the most difficult to score on! Bunkers need help also, but I’m not in them enough to care too much (it’s a penalty regardless).
With new clientele coming in to the area it would benefit the course management to do improvements and use some weed control in FWs - dandelions and crabgrass everywhere…. I constantly had to move the ball around to find real grass(in the FW)
You pay what you get
The cost was very ressonable but you pay for what you get
Fairways had weeds, daisies etc very little grass.
Green had been it iirrated with a lot of sand still on them
Sand traps were not in good shape.
Springlake thoughts
Only played nine. Wife is recovering from shoulder injury and was only able to play a couple holes. Paired up with Dave an David; wonderful locals
First outing out the year so happy just to hit the ball.
Saw some reviews criticizing conditions. Yes fairways are not lush and tee boxes are pretty bare but the layout is nice and some nicely framed holes. This was likely a very nice course in earlier days.
Pro shop staff were very friendly and pace was slow but it was very busy
The greens are insanely sloped and fast to point of being penal. However they are in good condition and run very true. Think you need to play here a few times to have any chance to chip and putt successfully
