Beacon Ridge Golf & Country Club
About
Beacon Ridge Golf and Country Club, a Gene Hamm design on rolling, wooded terrain, opened in 1989. This well-maintained course has bermudagrass fairways and bentgrass greens.
Perhaps what sets Beacon Ridge apart from a number of other courses in the Pinehurst area is its variety. Just about every hole has its own character. The greens are mostly large and sloped. You will find adequate room off the tee, but if you miss the fairway, you’ll end up in deep rough and pine trees and might not find your ball. Play conservative and keep your ball in play.

Great Day of Golf
This course is a gem in the circle of Pinehurst courses. The course is playable but sneaky long at 6000 yards from the whites. Many uphill shots to the greens requiring 2 extra clubs most of the time. Greens were in nice condition but albeit a tad slow. When in Pinehurst take the time to experience Beacon Ridge.
Scruffy course
Course layout was good, but course conditioning was poor. Lots of bare areas and a number of areas that were really wet.
Very friendly staff.
Paid $60 per person. At best, with current course conditions, this should not have cost more than $40
A Fun Course to Play!!
This course was fun to play!!! Rolling, very hilly fairways, smaller greens than newer courses generally offer with more challenging areas around the greens,, and lots of variation in the holes. The Sunday bermuda greens were a little fuzzy, but still rolled surprisingly well. We were welcomed warmly by the pro shop staff, Once on the course, the pace of play was good, and we just enjoyed an absolutely beautiful day with good friends on a throwback golf course that played like courses did a generation or two ago. Will be playing from time to time in the future. You need to try this hidden gem. It's different than recently built courses you play today, but that's a good thing in this case.
A ruined day
Played the front 9 in 1 1/2 hours. Made the turn and found the golf shop started groups on the back nine - but not just any group. We were on the par 5 10th hole for 1/2 hour and were still standing in the fairway waiting to hit our approach shots. Couldn't go around them and no marshal was to be seen, so we called it a day.
I went to the clubhouse, explained the situation, and requested a return of 1/2 the green fee. Rather than a refund and simple apology, I was informed that my group caused the problem because we played too fast. I was also told - through a form of math with which I am not familiar - that the group had a right to play at that speed because the pace would meet the 4:10 time for a round. I did the math for them: 18 holes at 1/2 hour a hole = 9 hour round. They continued to insist the group was on pace. So, my recommendation is to avoid the place, particularly if on vacation unless you relish being treated poorly and find the risk of missing a half day of golf appealing.
Still love it
Played a few months ago- course was trending in the right direction and it still is! Such improvements over the last few years- far from perfect but a great layout & relaxed atmosphere make it $ well spent. Always enjoy a round at BRidge- happy to support a golf course making strides to improve its conditions & overall experience! Thanks & happily will return again soon! - JP
Ok round
Staff was great I was a little late for 7 am tee time accident on the way there still accommodating. 1 st nine played in about an hour but they sent 3 foursomes out on the back in front of me so 2.5 hours on the back. Not sure why some old hats get special treatment going off on back in front of others?
Challenging Track
My wife and I played on a Saturday and had fair amount of people on it. Pace of play was excellent and the layout was challenging. Great day awesome staff. Best value in area. Would do it again next weekend (and we might).
Will go back!
The course is definitely coming around! For the last few years this course has struggled, but under its new ownership it looks like they are on the right track to make this one of the top courses in the moore county area! Looking forward to playing it again!
Value for money
High handicap friendly. Green and fairway in good shape with very little rain.
West End Beauty
Beacon Ridge has always been a good course, and this year it's on the way to becoming a great course.. Tee boxes in great shape, as are the fairways.. And greens that are tricky to maneuver, but reward a correct read. All told, a great day.
Monie well spent
Good practice facilities. Many side up hill second shots onto fast greens. Elevation changes on each hole. Major stratigy change coming from flat land, Florida, Texas.
Golf course rating
The course was not in good shape, cart paths were terrible, and it took almost 5 hours to play and had already 3 groups on every hole. Had to wait on every shot and never saw any staff to try and improve pace of play. Don’t think I will play this course again!
Hidden Gem
Give this beauty a try- both you and your wallet will thank me! As far as layout / conditions / price point are concerned- this course is about the best deal anywhere- quite the comeback from past struggles
First time here. Considering the time of year (February) and all the recent rain the course was in really good condition. Greens were really good. The staff at the shop were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely play again.
We are sorry that you had a poor experience. We have recently reintroduced Golf Course Marshals to speed up play.
Our course is rated for a 4 hour and 20 minute round. It rarely goes beyond that. Please give us another try!
