This is a well-conceived, challenging, yet playable course, with a good reputation among local golfers.

Water comes into play on quite a few holes. The fairways are relatively wide, but it will help to play your shot carefully. A few bunkers lurk in the fairways, ready to create trouble. There are also some greens that require well-placed shots over water from uneven lies. Overall, this is a well thought out, fun and thoroughly worthwhile course.

Peter Tufts, (the gentleman who designed the course), was the godson of Donald Ross and the Ross influence is obvious throughout.

Great value, but bad conditions

This course is a very long and somewhat difficult course, especially the greens. The greens were fast, difficult to read and not so easy to land shots on. Included with this is not only 18 holes and a cart, but also a free lunch or 2 beers for free. (One offer per person I believe). The downside to this course is the course conditions. The course has crabgrass, the fairway and rough are not well maintained which exposes the dead grass. In certain holes, the fairway and rough are completely indistinguishable.

Nice Track

Good course. Nice greens and wide fairways. Only complaint that being our first time, no one told us the 9th and 10th were no where NEAR the clubhouse. So when we were making a turn, starving... we realized there was no place to eat. Only a soda machine. We all agreed it would have been nice to have told is so we could have grabbed our free lunch before heading out.

Loved it. Here's Why:

In a region filled with heralded and expensive golf courses, Seven Lakes Golf Club presented an opportunity to go where the locals play.

I was not disappointed. This par-72 designed by Peter Tufts III in 1976 will never have the pedigree or acclaim of better-known courses in the sandhills. Nor does it have the requisite polish, but Seven Lakes does provide a very satisfying golf experience made even more-so by the reasonable greens fees that include a golf cart and lunch.

That’s fun factor with an exclamation mark, especially when one factors in the course design and execution, beginning with the choice of five different sets of tees.

Rough around the edges? Yes.

Engaging? Even more.

From the 1st through the 18th, every hole is good, challenging, and instantly memorable if not also beautiful in some cases.

The par-4, 261-374 yard par-4, 4th requires a strong tee shot left of a lake, then over that lake to an elevated, two-tiered green.

Many other holes on the course require strategy and also precision in execution. The looped, links design plays uphill, downhill, right and left. It challenges our proverbial, “every shot and club in the bag.” The holes are interesting. They’re quirky. They’re inspiring. They’re blind. Or, they’re all laid out in front of you.

This is a great course for regular folks.

It’s a good round compared with any course, anywhere.

Deserves some love.

Friendliest Course

Out of all the courses played on golf trip this course was one of the favorites. Starter gave us a great overview of course and expectations unlike some of the “higher end” courses played. ALL staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Golf personnel drove by a couple times on cart to make sure everything was good to go to include ensuring our speakers worked properly on cart. Heard the greens were not great from past years however they were beautiful. Course was well groomed, sand was great, and so were greens. Cart employee even gave us food to feed the beautiful turtles and fish while golfing a hole by one of the lakes. A meal and drink was included in price as well. Highly recommend for a chill golf day.

Really enjoyed playing first time

Cart paths are really really bad and could be dangerous with some of the bad dips.... would loved to play again next year if they repair the cart paths. Course is wonderful and very friendly to the weekend golfer. Thanks for asking.

Fairways a little ruff but greens were good. Your information on free breakfast is wrong.

Give It a couple of Months

The course layout is good. However the course conditions are not worthy of a $60.00 rate at this time. The greens were punched and the fairways has very little grass.

Not worth the price

Greens were as if no one that plays there has any clue how to fix a divot. Spotty, slow and full of crab grass. Definitely not worth the $80. Many course for less or same price with way better value.
