This course was in terrible shape. The greens were recently plugged and grass was growing in little clumps scattered across the greens with sand in between. Gauging the speed of the putts was a nightmare. The best part of the whole day was having a sandwich and a beer at the turn in their grill. Evidently it is operated independently from the golf course. Food was really good. It’s a “Pittsburgh Steelers” bar and NFL fans pack it on name days.
Hidden Value
Great course. Friendly staff. Good value for the course. Hidden gem.
The best!
One of the best courses around with some of the friendliest staff. Would highly recommend to anyone that lives here or is visiting out of state.
Nice layout course seemingly on its last leg.
This course is a shell of its former self. It must be hard for them to compete with all the great courses in the area. It’s a shame becuase the layout is great, and the bar/restaraunt is great. It’s a good cheap option to play for recreational golf but if you want to play a better maintained course looked elsewhere.
Course is in terrible condition
Greens terrible, fairways muddy with tire track and ruts. Bridges falling apart. Dam broke. Don’t waste your time or money
WW is ok
The greens, fairways and teeboxes were really in need of a cut. Layout was great. Are had a lot of water days before I played. I would play again if I knew the required area's of play had been maintained.
Just Ok
Sad to see the course get run down - yet there are many golf courses in Moore County and not all can be top notch.
I’ve played Whispering Woods many times over the year and have never seen it in such bad shape. Green we’re in really rough shape.
