We’ve Played Worse for More
This course is not nearly as bad as some reviews would have you believe. Did some greens have bare spots? Yes. Was the 3rd green a temporary green? Yes. Was it a little like mountain golf? Yes. Is it worth the extra-long drive from outside of the Pinehurst area? No. If we lived closer, we would go back.
Medical emergency
I tried to cancel do to a medical emergency and they wouldn’t except. So I was charged reservation fee from golf now and full price from the course.
Not what is once was
Do you remember the game Plinko on The Price Is Right? That’s what the greens roll like. Most of the front 9 greens are trash. Back had more grass but still bumpy and didn’t roll very well. This was a great little spot to play a few years ago. Not the case in July 2024
Don’t waste your time.
This was the biggest waste of $55 I’ve ever spent. The first hole of the only fair way and green that actually resemble a golf course. The 3rd hole has no hole on the green they just threw a random flat in the fairway. The greens are at most 15% grass at best. The only thing I don’t have a complaint about is the golf carts. This course is not playable and definitely not worth $55
Good Deal for a Saturday
Front nine greens were in terrible shape. Back nine was much better. But for only $25 on Saturday afternoon, it was a good deal. Staff is extremely friendly. Strategic golf with some holes requiring lay ups off the tee.
Worst conditions I've seen this course in. Greens were unplayable they were so bad.
Concerned for the future of this course
Very rough conditions. I'm sure this was a very nice course way back in the day, but sadly it looks to be on its last legs.
Stay away from this dump
A real dump. greens dead, one was a temp green in the fairway in June !
Weeds all over the place, some tee boxes had indoor outdoor carpet instead of mats.
We got ripped off at $ 40.00 not worth $ 10.00 your better off going to a driving range instead.
PS: Today they are selling Group Golfer vouchers for $ 20.00 - tells you all you need to know.
Wonderful Course! A Hidden Gem.
The course played well and was not super busy. It was our second time and there have been many improvements since our first visit! The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant also has great food and relaxing course/water views!
We will be back!
Good deal for a Sunday
I regularly play courses closer to Raleigh, but such a beautiful week, everything was booked up.
Lucked out with plenty of availability at Whispering Woods. Good price and wide open…. Was happy to find it! The course was in rough shape, mostly the greens.
Two thumbs up for the clubhouse! Great food, atmosphere and service. If I lived close, it would be my hang!
Would I return? Maybe… but if I could find another spot nearby with availability…
This place is a total dump
This place was never in good shape, it's an absolute dump now. Greens and fairways have very little grass, tee boxes have no grass, some tee boxes have a cheap green mat throne on them.
There are weeds all over the place. The worst course I have ever played-it's not worth $ 20 bucks
It's an embarrassment to the Pinehurst area courses.
Horrible Greens
I’ve played this course often over the last two years. Recently I’ve found the greens to be absolutely horrible. Some are very “fuzzy” and others indescribable. There are bald patches and the ball never rolls true. The only way I’ll play this course again is if the greens improve, or I pay less than $30 for a round. Disappointing because it’s a nice layout and the bar/grill is first rate.
