Link's Course Fan
I thoroughly enjoyed the Gray Stone experience from the first tee box looking into the abyss, to the signature hole 18th (missed birdie by inches!) as it weaved it's way along a path of granite monolithic rocks, suggestion danger for even the slightest stray shot. Loved it!
Almost perfect but...
I play Greystone a lot and lately the greens have simply been beat up. I recently compared them to putting on a pepperoni pizza. Every other aspect of this golf course is really good (tee boxes, fairways, etc) but the greens are in very serious need of maintenance. It probably added three or four strokes to my round today. It’s hard to understand how poorly kept the greens are when the rest of the course is so great.
Maybe it’s the number of tournaments the club hosts. I just do not understand and it makes me not want to drive 38 miles to Dickson to play.
That said, I do enjoy Greystone very much otherwise.
LOVED IT!
This course was amazing!!! Pace of play was a little slow, but the ranger actually talked to the guys in front of us and we played through. My only real complaint is that the cart staff and pro shop staff were not very friendly at all. As far as value, this is THE BEST value in Nashville. I will for sure play this course again.
Rough greens
They ran out of carts. The greens were awful. Putts were redirected 2 or 3 times on the way to the hole from dead spots and pitch marks that many previous golfers forgot to repair.. we drove 40 miles and the greens are a deal breaker. Wont be back until next year, maybe...
They had a cart girl, but we never saw her. Making the turn we went inside to buy beer, gave us a bag but they were out of ice. Really. Beer with no ice....
Best course in Nashville
This is the best course in the Nashville area. Best value also. Excellent condition.
Fix the green/Tee Boxes
overall the course was in good shape. The greens were pretty much unplayable with lots of divots. I would definitely go back, but the greens need some R&R
Worth the drive
Just starting out playing again and have heard that this course was worth the drive from Nashville multiple times. I'm happy I took that recommendation. Great value and a beautiful area to play in.
Greystone - August 17, 2020
Greystone is a fantastic golf course with a challenging layout. Truly a beautiful course up in the hills of Dickson, TN. My one complaint is the condition of the greens. We played on a late Sunday morning, mid-August, and the greens were in horrible condition. I'm talking hundreds of divot marks on each green. And about 25% of Hole #9 is like a hard mud with no grass.
It's almost like they water them to death and each ball that hits the green goes an inch into the green and the grass never re-grows after the divot is fixed. I'm no expert in grounds but this needs to be addressed.
Outside of the severe issue on the greens, the course is in great shape.
Awesome course
Even with a tournament going on, and some overbooking, the staff was able to set everyone up to play with a great pace. The layout and condition of the course was very nice, an excellent value for your money. Greystone lives up to the hype. Only con is that they were out of logo balls in the pro shop!
Love the layout
Had a great day golfing with my son. The course can be challenging but you can score well with properly placed shots. Play was a little slow because they were so busy. Staff was very friendly!
Course is a must play in Tennessee.
This course is one of the nicest I've played in years. Greens were recently aerated and still rolled perfectly. No patchiness to the grass anywhere even with the heat recently. Clubhouse is amazing and staff was wonderful. Will definitely be making the 45 minutes drive to play again.
Great Course but Greens in bad shape
Greens were in terrible shape, especially the back 9 which had been punched. Would have been nice to know before booking.
Patchy, bare, muddy, bumpy greens.
